After the recent shit that’s came out regarding the chiefs legal issues and certain Dane Burman misconduct surely this brand can’t last much longer? I know Damn it all should be dropping soon but will that be enough to keep zero afloat? To be honest Ive always been a big fan of Zero and JT is one of my all time favourite skaters but the brand fell into irrelevancy years ago but have stayed around, I’m sure the they’ve still got a lot of core fans but is the end near?

Am I the only one who loved Cold War? That's a great fucking video. Dane's no cash value part was sick too with the INXS song. I love zero for keeping it real and not hopping on all these trends like everyone else. That being said, I don't think I've ever bought anything from them besides their videos. Fallen's Ride the sky and Road less traveled are also great videos. JT is good at videos.

I think it's sick that only certain dudes who are really gnarly and driven can deal with the pressure (like Sandoval and Burman). I loved Zero back in the day, still like it but kids nowadays couldn't care less about it I believe.
I feel that JT tried to do way too much at some time (having too many brands, remember Thread?) and Zero didn't get the care and attention that the brand needed.
That + the fact that the brand never evolved, or adapted to the current times, like Girl did.
I remember Pontus saying that the lifespan of a brand should be no more than 10 years or sth like that, probably true for such a niche brand as Zero.

Its just a strange world we live in right now and the whole skate industry is in a sort of cold war with the big 90s and early 2000s brands that dominated before. Maybe if zero could put out another cool promo video that had no cash value with a ton of reggie and tguns footy, they will be fine.

Exactly. By watching clips of BB the past year or so I can tell he's a savage who knows how to push himself. Plus he's still young. Zero may not be in the best place right now but I'm glad to see Brandon ride for a company he can possibly turn pro for, considering that he's been skating some spots you wouldn't see many pros even touch

Who the fuck would encourage their kids to choose skating as a career? Are you really worried about coach dads ruining skating? More like skating is going to ruin coach dads. I feel like Horton carried Zero during those last few years and when he left that was pretty obvious. My local guy said that JT started offering discounts to shops that didn't carry blanks, and then that all ended up being a bait and switch to stock those shitty "Threat" decks, and he basically sank Blackbox trying to run a pricepoint brand, after crusading (pun intended) against that industry for all those years prior. I think anybody rational would've cut bait on Zero a decade ago, but the guy's ego can't let him do that. The graphics have gotten better at times over the last couple years, but the shapes they use are fucking trash, so it's all kinda moot. But anyway, I do feel like Slave basically filled the void left, and I think Horton is a lot more deserving of support than Jamie on top of that. So it all worked out regardless.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I didn't grow up during the Zero era, so it never hit me like it hit a lot of people. Back when Zero was in it's "prime" I saw Jamie Thomas at a few demos and he always came off as a dick to me. Just how he talked to me, he came off as a dick. Couple this with the endless stories people have told over the years about how he would treat "his skaters," I was never a fan. I'll always appreciate some of the skating he's done over the years, his video parts, etc., but I've always disliked him. That original Zero era has been gone for god knows how long, I don't think he's ever going to rekindle that feeling. It was a different time, the internet and social media wasn't as much as a driving force as it is now. I'd be okay with Zero still existing, but it seems like it's tainted a bit too much to look at in the way it was back on the day.

All of that was like three years ago. They children have moved on. Things are normalizing. That whole offshoot of skateboarding is just teenagers being teenagers. We wore dumbass shit and listened to dumbass shit when we were their age too.
Hip Hop is not the reason Zero died. Big rail skating and hucking was sick--just like how vert skating was sick--but they couldn't keep the collective attention of the people forever. I'm not a fan of any of the "Soundcloud," Odd Future, and zumiez offshoot of skateboarding, but they certainly didn't kill Zero. Zero had an image; it was cool, but it got old.

Call me strange, but the current climate of everyone drawing weird lines in the sand for the way they interpret whether you're friend or foe has me having a modest set of beliefs that don't include caring about much of this sort of thing anymore, I struggle enough just trying to give a shit enough to not throw in the towel on life in general most days and move to a cave off in the woods somewhere (albeit one where I can build myself a nice mini ramp nearby, that'll hold me over). When I witnessed people I knew taking a personal stand for their chosen -isms and then being told "Yeah, glad you support the cause, but you're not one of us so take a seat in the back and shut up", it kind of ruined the whole dealing with people thing for me in general or rallying behind a cause.
I just figure that I like to be left alone, most people like to be left alone, and figure that's good enough for me.
