Vincent was impeccable.
Nice to see more country codes, wasn't expecting +52 or +61.
Hugo Boserup got the sort of overloving edit that makes you wonder, did he die??

Gonna have a go at the soundtrack from what I know, there's some familiar sounding stuff from film scores but I'm not sure what they are exactly.

Vincent Touzery 1: Salwa - Thoom
Vincent Touzery 2: Empty White House - Mica Levi (Jackie OST)*
Vincent Touzery 3: Plasick - LILPEPTOMAN (aka Matt King)
Nik Stain 1: ?
Nik Stain 2: Popular - Nada Surf
Hugo 1: Plantasia - Mort Garson
Hugo 2: Surfing Pointers - Further
Hugo 3: ?
Genesis Evans/Kohlton Ervin*: Pharaohs - Tears for Fears
Aaron Loreth 1: ?
Aaron Loreth 2: Candy Pop - Len
Nolan Benfield & Friends: Carondelet - Jesu & Sun Kil Moon
David Clark/Pedro Attenborough: ?
John Francomacaro: His own guitar solo & then an overlayed song
Max Palmer 1: On And Off - Blair (Genesis Evans' band)
Max Palmer 2: Doot Doot - Freur, it's from Vanilla Sky
Max Palmer 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcVcAOilBKA (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcVcAOilBKA)
Cyrus Bennett 1: Day One Homies - Blair
Cyrus Bennett 2: Still In Love With You - Thin Lizzy

you can definitely tell which clips were left over/filmed during the supreme video

my question is how will nick stain ever go pro or be pro worthy when his bag of tricks is so limited. I love his style and the way he does those tricks but like c'mon mane

aaron loreth doin every manual combo possible. that nollie flip he does on the wall, at that skatepark he’s always at, was soo good

david—>pedro—> franco was a dope three part run.

cyrus second part 😍

honestly as much as i crave a new AO part im okay and actually commend, if he’s doing this, him taking a back seat and letting 917 be about the team. He doesnt need to produce more parts because he already has a great rep and 2 successful companies

I liked it. Max’s skating is so special because he frequently does tricks that could only be done at that spot. Looks like he learns certain tricks or combos at the spot after he gets there.

thought vincent was a bit of a letdown, He seems too good for those one zoomed in flatground trick then the same quick polejam everyone always does,or  weird slow mo seemingly underwhelming high short backsmiths.

Not really sure how I feel about that tall dude with the weird ass trick selection, some of its cool but alot if it is just like awful tricks if anyone else did they'd get shit on but he's different and trendy so its cool?

Max Palmer and Cyrus are next level though.

What an eclectic mix of skaters. You have a bunch of people in there (friends?) who look so sketchy on a board, but then you have dudes like Vincent, Max and Cyrus who are amazing. Max and Cyrus in particular had multiple WTF moments. Probably will rewatch the first and last 2 parts.

I seriously fucked with this. I've been numb to just about every single skate video/clip/part since the rise of instagram  and everyone dropping these solo parts that get lost into the void. But for some reason, Nik Stains clips defibrilated some feeling deep down I used to get watching vids like sorry/really sorry every single day after school and being so fucking stoked. Not like he skated like Appleyard or Geoff or some shit but it's just that feeling I get watching old vids I grew up watching.

For real, this video is an instant classic for me, especially Max's part. I'm not that crazy for the dudes skating but he did some insane shit and the music on his part was so dope. Second viewing on a tv rather than phone. Great video. Still a little too much filler but gives you a chance to look down at your phone. Even when it’s not your favorite dude there is usually something interesting on screen. The soundtrack and sound mixing are the element that tie this thing together and show crazy attention to detail even when the editing style seems haphazard.

Seems like Alex Olson has taken the Rick Howard rather than Mike Carroll approach for filming as a company owner.

Logan Lara did a great job, as did the rest of filmers. Seems like the soundtrack tried a little harder than the last, doesn't register as quickly but time will tell.

It's been said but Vincent, Cyrus, and especially Max are incredible. The latter is one of the more unique skateboarders of this caliber I can recall in quite sometime.

sawyer bourdeaux sounds like an alias I would use when checking into a hotel to have an affair.

hilarious that they go through all this effort to put out a video to promote their brand and skaters and half the comments "who was this guy?" "what's that guys name with the dangly earing?"

Maybe they'll put out a version 2 of a board with just a basketball graphic in the middle for no reason whatsoever

I don’t know why brands suddenly think they don’t have to put people’s names on their footage. Especially when you’re a brand like 917 with minimal ads, no go-to team list, and feature a bunch of people who are relatively unknown beyond some obscure flow team.  Honestly, aside from the bigger names (the pros, Hugo, and Nik Stain), I have no idea who is on 917 and the only reason I know Nik Stain and Hugo are on is because so many people on Slap apparently know them and know they’re on.

Too true, but you really double down on things by saying "yes" to a phone call from AO. And what's odd is...his hairline is moving down his face. It's like the hair equivalent to that story about the painting getting younger or whatever.

sawyer bourdeaux sounds like an alias I would use when checking into a hotel to have an affair.

hilarious that they go through all this effort to put out a video to promote their brand and skaters and half the comments "who was this guy?" "what's that guys name with the dangly earing?"

Maybe they'll put out a version 2 of a board with just a basketball graphic in the middle for no reason whatsoever

the curse of skating for 917 is having your hairline disappear before your eyes. max and cyrus have already paid the price, and by the looks of things vincent is next. I guess time will tell if it is the halo effect or not

It's like how everyone who's played the Genie in Aladin has killed themselves.

I don’t know why brands suddenly think they don’t have to put people’s names on their footage. Especially when you’re a brand like 917 with minimal ads, no go-to team list, and feature a bunch of people who are relatively unknown beyond some obscure flow team.
This. It makes their videos less enjoyable for me. I can’t figure out who “new” (post 2010) dudes are.

Does anyone else think it's weird AO hasn't posted a single thing about this vid on his insta? Love him, but he reposts pseudo-science health constantly and yet no promotion at all for his company's full-length vid... I also wish he had footage.

I think I liked the first one more, but this was still great. Love the risky/experimental song choices that ended up working for the most part. I agree with the poster who said something along the lines of Vincent seems wayyy better than the skating showcased here. The filming in his part didn't help either.

Max Palmer is absolutely amazing and Cyrus is right next to Tom Knox as my favorite dude out. His style reminds me of a more aggressive Busenitz.

PS. Cyrus and Max are probably the only two dudes I can think of off the top of my head since Jake Johnson to clearly posess that certifiable future legend status in both their trick selection and general style of skateboarding.

Super good vid, I didn't expect it to suck. Their squad is too heavy. Vincent's wallie boardslide was so good it gave me chills, which was weird. And thank the lawd for all this new David Clark footage, if he's pro for 917 I'll buy his board in an irregular heartbeat.

But yeah,

That Goddamn Nada Surf song sucked when it came out (I'm old) and sucks even worse when it's faffing up good skating.

The music was better in the first video.

Seemed cool. I appreciate when the vid has stuff us "normal" people might be able to do on a good day thrown in there. And when i say this I'm referring to an ollie over a planter I saw and the dude skating the curb doing manuals, though that one nose manny was pretty tight.

Soundtrack was better this time around too which makes me think Alex Olson went full Cartman and said "fuck you guys I'm doing the soundtrack myself this time!"

i feel like this video is trying to be too many things at the same time and ends up having no personality.

some of slowmo feels really misplaced.

the lifestyle footage seemed pointless.

skating is really sick in places.

This vid and a lot of skate vids end up looking like a bunch of dudes standing around in the street just "looking cool" filmed in HD so scene girls can pause and wonder, "Who's that!?" amidst another slumber party pillow fight.

how does it have no personality? it's a bunch of friends having fun. what does a video with a personality look like to you?

as far as "friends having fun", the first 917 video lol, man down, a beauty and the beast tour video; as far as the company itself having a specific personality and identity, a stereo video maybe? this one felt like watching drinking footage from a bad office party. the video itself just does a bad job of saying anything about them and relies too heavily on already having some info on who they are from some nebulous social media space. if i was super plugged into their twitters and insta accounts id probably like the video a lot more, but coming at it from a blank slate, i have no idea who any of the guys on the team are besides max vincent and cyrus and the lifestyle footage didnt really help establish anything about those people or the team. they just feel like no-name ny transplants who are eager to please. which is cool, but i just dont care.

^^thats a good way to end this thread.

But

Do you ever take a bong rip and watch Vincent’s 917 #2 part in a dark room with the sound up, then get super paranoid and go hit the streets at night?

I've watched this a bunch, but just a few days ago I realized one of the songs is an early track from the Steal my Sunshine sis-bro group, was kinda mind blowing.

Yeah! Aaron Loreth's song, it's Candy Pop by Len from their 1994 album. They dug deep on that one (who listens to Len's 1994 album?). It was actually one of my favourite tracks in the video.

Just rewatched this and wow did I not remember how badly this was put together. I kept thinking for half the guys in it that if that were my footage, I'd be bummed at the premiere watching how it was presented. I started wondering if it was done slipshod on purpose, like an attempt at normcore video interpretation, but it was all over the place without any discernable style or consistency.

Wtf was with the music in Vincent's part? Listen to the three songs in max 's part and see if they make any sense going from one to the next. I'm not sure if the music paused at all throughout the entire video, like a DJ mix, but there was never really any transition between any song. All of the big names on the team like Max, Cyrus, Aaron Loreth and Vincent had full parts with great footage, but all of their parts have at least some signs hodgepodge editing.

Cyrus's part actually ended with a nice bit of editing to Thin Lizzy's "still in love with you". After his 50 to 50 on the curved rail to rail, he puts his head in his hands while the lyrics say, "my head, it keeps on reeling". Reminded me of Strobeck's "white on white" Bauhaus sync. Unfortunately it might be the only moment of good editing in the whole video.

Yep, me too.

I liked how Logan put it together, the whole video flowed quite nice.
Usually, I'll go back to watch Aaron Loreth's part but find myself watching the whole video and going back to the start.
This video, the Atlantic Drifts, and GX's Roll Up are more enjoyable than the traditional full-lengths for me.

Each to their own, I thought the editing was great, plenty of good moments that were edited well, as was the video as a whole. Disjointed yes, but I prefer videos that lack a little polish and are a little rough around the edges. Real easy video to watch in full as well, for mine.

One of the best videos in recent years. In no small part because of the edit. Really surprised it has picked up this reputation being crummy..

I keep coming back to rewatch Aaron Loreth's parts in both 1 and 2. The fact that each part seamlessly flows into the next makes it easier to watch the entire video in one sitting.

Well there’s only been two videos and there was a two year gap, who knows, the 3rd video might be a three year gap

We bump 917 because they still have one of the best teams out. Go watch Cyrus’ part in vid#2 again.

Nah, I'm with you. I don't think #2 is irredeemable by any means, but it feels like it's mostly filler - too many friends who I'm not interested in versus not enough quality footage of dudes who I want to see I. Nik's part is pretty short, Vince's part feels like it's all Instagram clips, Max's part could be classic if it didn't use three songs for whatever reason, and Cyrus kills it but I prefer his part in Trust Fall. David and Aaron had great footage, as well.

EDIT: oh yeah, and no Alex footage? Come the fuck on.

Whenever I'm jonesing for some MPC footage, I just throw this on. I still don't understand why none of this was in the full length.
