If you don't have HBO, what's the easiest way to watch this? Are there Reddit threads?
-
Do a month trial of Crave for free.
-
Now I think Crave is the back catalog for HBO only...to get current it's another $10/mo which is fine if they drop the whole season at once.

CYE is awesome, but Seinfeld is still the best show of all time, in my opinion.

Curb wins by not having a laugh track alone.

This is true. Seinfeld as great as it is, feels dated quite a bit because of the laugh track. Still watch it whenever it is on, even though I have seen every episode 100 times over.

The two are very different, Seinfeld was so well written and they cast good actors. Curb is all improv. Personally I like Curb more but Seinfeld is the GOAT...

Why have i not read about this anywhere else until right now!?!?!?
Love Seinfeld but i just enjoy Curb that bit more. The way the episodes pan out is phenomenal.
-
ive bounced back and forth to the point where i've realized i cant choose one over the other. however, seinfeld gets noticeably different and imo worse in the 8th and 9th season when larry wasnt working on the show, although i think he came back for the finale? i guess that makes larry goat?

this are kind of corny but i thought it was interesting

Started watching the show finally after years of watching 1 or 2 episodes at a time. Dying dude. I knew it was super funny but I always got distracted when it slows down. Now I realize anything slow is just setup for what's to come. I first saw it like 15 years ago and it was the funniest shit but never really made an effort to work through it until this week. I love it, and I also fear how much like Larry David's character I am. Even my girlfriend is pointing it out.

Rewatching old seasons currently and crying at this shit

Also love the scene when leon is telling him to just admit he "ran that ass into the ground" and it was time to move on about funkhouser divorcing his wife hahaha

Yo someone gif Larry David toppling over the scooters in the new episode lol
-
Loved the episode.
-
That episode was epically good. Yes. Someone gif the scooter moment. And the selfie stick. Pure gold.

I didn't gif it, I could have, but I didn't.
-
I felt like I was calling what was going to happen right before it did the whole episode. And I was totally OK with it. Season's off to a good start.
-
can't help but feel a bit disappointed after watching the season opener..
felt very pop-culture reliant. it was great, but not necessarily the sense of originality i expect from LD.
also felt a bit boomer at times, with all of the #metoo commentary
the jeff harvey weinstein bits were amongst my favorite though
-
Seemed a bit forced, like they had to get rid of a bunch of bits and they jumped hard into the new storyline. Still psyched to see it....
-
Really enjoying it. Like the jabs at millennials, #meto, magma, it goes on and on
-
First episode was a lot better than the second I thought. The giant painting of Susie was pretty funny though. They can't all be amazing, even in the past there have been a few meh episodes and some uneven seasons. They are still better than most television haha.
-
First episode went full tilt it was honestly the most I’ve laughed at anything new in a long time.
The genius is that so far they’re doing a good job satirizing these media taboos like metoo and trump in a way that is a little edgy (for tv). I don’t find it anywhere close to “boomer” at all, completely the opposite actually!
-
I hate when a show has a bunch of pop culture references but that's because most shows just try to throw it in as a joke. Remember when comedy movies used to have some line like "Don't you dare put this on facebook!" when facebook was new, and just the reference alone was supposed to be a joke?
The reason it works for Curb is that Larry David does not give a fuck and goes in hard on everything. That MAGA shit nobody would touch. Just the picture of Larry David in the hat is risky because you know somebody will think he is a Trump supporter just from seeing the image. I think the hat gag was pretty genius. I really liked the first episode. The second one wasn't as good but I think they used the 2nd episode to make clear this season's storyline. You can't have the premiere episode be so heavy on the setup.
I loved the painting and I really loved when Larry got upset that nobody asked about his test results. Larry is so good at using the f word, that when he started freaking out saying he didn't need any fucking friends and stabbed the food I was howling. That and he tells his brother to like shut the fuck up while brandishing the butter knife because last season he went on and on about how when he has a knife in his hands he just wants to stab someone lol.
-
I think it's been preeeeeetty preeeeeeeetty good so far.
