Best dude. What a rad project. Rattray doing good for skateboarding.
-
Everyone should watch this. Onya Rattray!
-
fuck, feel this so hard. thank you rattray
-
Good man.
-
Turned it on, saw the bikes, turned it off. I’m sure rattray is still killing it tho.
-
Rattray is a great human! Thank you for bringing the awareness to skateboarding.

Wack. This was a super rad piece, if I had known about the ride I probably would’ve joined.

You are an idiot.
Rattray is the man, was always one of my favourites on Zero and just seems like a good dude

This is even bigger than skateboarding. We all know about Ben raemers but I don't think I knew rattray lost his sister to suicide as well.
Depression is rough. I'm glad he can make a trip like this that can support those who struggle.
-
Yeah, I didn't know about his sister. This was such a positive way to bring light to such a harsh subject/condition.
-
We love you Ben Raemers. And anyone struggling too.
-
This is the epitome of a Life Hammer. Rattray rules as always. He has a really good episode on the Looking Sideways podcast talking about this and other related things if anyone wants to here more.
-
For anyone interested- Dan Magee has made an instagram of old Blueprint tapes from the late 90's to mid 2000's. Plenty of sick Rattray footage.

Awesome project.
Rattray rules. Saw him at a Zero demo once. Threw up a high five and yelled ‘The Rat!’ He gave me the five, but I don’t think he was hyped haha. He ripped the demo, though.
-
Fuck this guy is the best.
I could listen to him all day long.
What a wonderful human being.
Too many quotes to quote.
Great vid.
Fucking legend.
-
Zero was way more respectable with this dude on. You need one guy on the team who can poke fun at himself, if your brand is unironic skulls and blood and shit. Always found his part refreshing in Dying to Live.
-
"Och slap the ground"
Rattray is a legend
-
This was amazing. Great cause.

This was a really well put together video. I appreciated that they didn't put some schmaltzy music behind it.
Rad dude, great work, great attitude.
Thanks John.
-
Such a rad individual and a great video to help bring awareness to such a somber subject. He did get his proper sad plant at the end too.

But, if you actually watched it, you'd realise that it isn't about bikes at all. It's about Sad Plants and mental health.
That's a bit like turning Star Wars off on the opening crawl because you don't like reading.
-
Love this mother fucker. Such a likable dude. Handsome af too.
-
That was a moving piece. John is doing some great work but I am generally hyped that skateboarding has come to a place where this kind of stuff can be openly facilitated. It's been understated for way too long.

Or turning off Star Wars because I don’t resonate with a weird future where only 2 black people exist

Everybody should watch this.
Shoutout to everyone involved. <3

Great to see this kind of thing being discussed more often. The video was really well done. Rattray really is a gift to skateboarding amongst all the braindead dolts out there with nothing interesting to add besides the physical act of skateboarding.
Not to sound trivial in comparison to the subject matter of the video, but I feel like Rattray would be a great host for a regular web series. Would love watching him in a similar format to McCrank's shows.

I really want this board. Anyone know of an online shop that carries them or a shop in Cali I can call about this?
I saw this and sent it to my homies. Suicide and depression are heavy. It doesn’t help that life can get busy and we got caught up on our own heads and don’t take time to self-care or look out for friends. But seek help and don’t be afraid to reach out to friends or family. If you can’t feel free to DM me.

maybe this is kind of nit picky. but does the name of the project seem to anyone else as being somewhat off key?
1) if you were to ask someone this question, why so sad?, word for word, doesn't it sound as if calling into question the legitimacy of someone's sadness?
2) too reminiscent of that whole "why so serious?" joker line i used to see everywhere.

I see what you're saying, but the name adds a bit of levity. Also, the bit about it being helpful to understand some of the causes of depressions fits with the title, where the question is read as, 'why am I so sad?'

I think he said the reason for the title is because its the shortest way to phrase an obviously complex issue. I agree that it could come off a little condescending but I think from a genuine standpoint its a pretty valid question.

i get what you're saying, but i think it's a pretty common reaction. it's literally what my mom said to me when i told her i had been going to therapy for depression
