Thank you. I'm really excited for this new era of Emerica. With footwear brands working so far in advance everything I've put together in the year I've been there is finally coming to light now and I couldn't be more stoked. I spent just about everyday for the past year filming with these two dudes and can't wait for everyone to see their hard work. The dynamic between Dakota and Jon is awesome and this video just came naturally and wasn't forced so I think it's pretty special.

I guess I didn't realize the use of 'Green' is in the sense of "fresh, new to the job" or whatever. Dumb on my part, but still, making it look shitty on purpose is too on the nose.

Yes, the meaning of the title is us saying that Green is going to be something fresh for the brand. It's Dakota's first Emerica part, Jon's first Emerica shoe, Miner's first video project since he left and just pretty much a fresh start with everything that has happened over the last several years.

I know that it wasn't mentioned in any of the posts but this was actually our ad in the latest issue of Thrasher and the combo box logo on the top left corner is on every ad this year so that's why it may seem like a lot in this photo in particular.

Clearly, you didn't understand that I didn't say a fresh start is solely based on having Miner edit it. What I meant was everything happening right now is pretty "green" on where the brand is going as a whole. Dakota's first Emerica part, Jon's first Emerica shoe, and the first year/video without Reynolds so now all of our riders can be the main focus of the brand instead of one person basically being the face of the brand. The combination of new things along with some classic heritage (Miner helping out) is pretty exciting and I hope everyone is stoked on the video. Miner has been doing an incredible job on it.

I love me some spanky I've got two of his more recent ads (the one from the drain pipe and the one where he wallies off the roof) hanging on my wall but yeah, I mean hsu had second to last part in a video that bad only been out for a year and a half ish and they kick him off for not producing... That ain't a good look sole tech (or whoever the fuck owns Emerica) I had every pair of the hsu the purple ones from skate two, grey and red hsu 2, and black s with red accent hsu g6...i really dig the new Romero "Americana" as worn by someone else in black with white laces (I think the as was in thrasher the month before they announced Dakota) anyway, they looked sick as fuck but I don't think I can support them any longer... Need a pair of those debut edition hunter green mid top Tyshawn adidas ,some suciu adidas or maybe those bitchin' Sean Pablo cons ...i just can't see chucks being that good for skating but they're excellent for kicking it... Regretfully, have to agree that poster/ Social image. Is weak; for a company with such a strong history of good graphic design.
That’s like the first idea on an art board that you develop for a few hours scrap and then do something different.
Would actually preferred seeing something that played on shades of green and a logotype that fell in line with the riders names concept that’s been ongoing.
Love Emerica to death and have always appreciated their integrity to maintain a look and or a marketing campaign.
There’s something better there. Could have built in some apparel to go with it very cheaply and easily.

It was a solid video. 2 stand out tricks by Dickson were a kickflip fs noseblunt a picnic table in a line and a fs half cab flip fs noseslide down a hubba. I was also coincidentally sitting behind manchild and his crew and completely forgot Dickson kickflips that bump to wall he tried to get for The Flare. They didn’t cheer.

Nah I let the guys do what they want and let their skating do the talking. Dakota has made some solid financial investments so I think he will be all right. Jon is from Antioch, IL so yeah he's from the Midwest which is also one of the reasons we went with Wolverine's pig suede for the burgundy colorway of The Dickson with the Midwest connection.

Glad you're stoked, I hope you like it. I think this is Dakota's best part yet. He filmed about 10+ minutes of footage in the last year for it and is looking the best he ever has. This is basically Dakota's first ever non Tum Yeto part and Miner did an excellent job on Dakota's part which hopefully opens up a new perspective for people.

I'm sure this has been addressed somewhere in this thread, but please don't even upload Zach Allen's footage.
I hope there are a lot of lines. I'm kind of unimpressed by single tricks on obscure rail and bump-to-bar spots. Just skate where you skate, and do what comes naturally. That's the best skateboarding in my opinion.
They literally just released a short documentary about one bump-to-bar trick.

It looks like Tim filmed most of the video and then they brought in Miner to edit so he didn't have complete control over the project the way he did for TIS and stay gold.

I totally get that part at least, and I honestly wonder how much of people's complaints would be resolved with better music. Desert/stoner rock was a terrible musical trend and it is pretty much never, ever a good fit for skateboarding. Fix that and maybe the brand's image is suddenly a bunch fresher than it used to be without making anyone change their clothes.

I'll try and give a quick rundown without giving away too many details:
Dakota has first part
-skates fast as fuck and flies over shit
-front blunted through a knobbed rail
-mustache game strong
Team montage in the middle - mostly footage from Leo, Collin, Figgy, Spanky
-Provost does an impossible back 180 on a hip
-Winkowski airs through the branches of a tree
-Figgy pressure flip 5-0's a hubba
-Zach Allen falls onto a parked car
Dickson has last part

Overall video was pretty heavy and did not disappoint, and i fully see why Jon Dickson is getting a shoe. Very well deserved.

Just watched it. I'm glad I was right, but I was however a bit wrong in my prediction. To my surprise, the Duffman went pretty damn big with his trick (in contrast to all his other current day clips).
In general: I really enjoyed the vid. Dakota hasn't really been on my radar before but he definitely is now. I've been a fan of Dickson since the first time I saw him and he just grows and grows as a skater. Loved the Spanky clips sprinkled throughout the vid. Also liked the music and the editing by Miner. Great job by everyone involved.

I don't think the video is to blame for you feeling that way though. Imagine if this vid was released on vhs and dvd in ca 2001-2006. It would've had a great rewatch value and become an instant classic. The problem is that we live in an age were we consume so much skate media on a daily basis with no time to digest it that basically everything becomes "mediocre" and loses its rewatch value the second we're done watching it.

I had fun with it, Jon brought the heat, as expected. Dudes a machine. Shout out to Dakota, too, I feel like he gets a little more interesting to watch with every part. For some reason, I really dig the way he seems to hammer his board down when he flips into a rail. Shit has weight to it. Always a sucker for Spanky clips. I thought the music/editing was fitting, too, kinda fits Jon and Dakota's no-nonsense, "show up, shut up, and throw down" type of skating.

Doubt it was planned with this thought in mind.
I see it more as, if it were a band, you’ve got Tim recording your songs as the engineer, then they brought in the famed producer, Miner, handling the final mix.
Logistically, if someone is the TM, they’re on the staff payroll, and wether you edited 1,2, 10, or 20 classic videos for a company, if you’re not on staff, then you probably get paid a flat rate for editing the project.
For a company that’s hustling to have all hands on deck to keep the ship afloat, it makes more sense to pay the TM their reg pay rate, to be getting texts at 7am to go get in the van, vs having to factor the flat rate plus expenses for a more famously known filmer editor.
As a fan of Emerica the brand and team, and Minor’s previous work, it’s just the cherry on top that he’s editing.
But with that said it wouldn’t make me like the video any less if Emerica TM had handled the editing.

through some beers editing this video for us to enjoy.
The Fuzz song fits super good, I got tickets to see them in Chicago this Jan.
I think these dudes fully prove that Emerica is fully ripping in a post Andrew-era.

I need to get Green and Made Chapter 2 on a DVD
that loops all day and just let that baby roll.
This is basically like a classic Zero/Toy Machine/Foundation/Emerica hammer style video, with that level of replay, and I can’t do hammers personally, but there’s way less ego involved with this kind of video. The dudes seem more like, I’m a skateboarder, not an internet computer phone celebrity.
That’s why I like this video, it’s classic, and relatable to my inner skate rat.

I forgot to say great job on the filming EmericaTM! I love how the company sticks to its roots and doesn't follow trends.
Are the hard copies going to have b-sides and bonus footage or features? I loved the "deadline" feature and it would be great to see more behind the scenes stuff.
Also hard copies are obsolete, only people with a PS4 can watch them so I've been transferring all the videos I've bought on iTunes to cool looking individual usb drives and having them painted and laser engraved by a friend. I use minidv tape cases with a foam insert as the case for each and do the artwork and sometimes make little photo books. I also made an engraved leather case that holds them all. I already ordered a green flash drive to add this video along with deadline, the teaser, a photo slide show and the b-sides.
I'm still gonna buy a hard copy when they drop because I've bought every Emerica video the first day they came out and I like having the official dvd but have you ever thought about selling hard copies in a flash drive format? I liked the video but my friend told me that it shiowed those titles in the default font Adobe chooses when it can't find the font file on your computer. Aka the render got fucked up and nobody watched it before the final upload

I'm a huge DIY guy, I love making/customizing shit. I like staying busy so I'm always working on different projects. You don't think selling custom Emerica flash drives is better then making dvd's? 4k skate videos are gonna be the norm and then eventually 6-8k. You can't do that on dvd or VHS.
For those of us that still give a fuck about having a tangible version of the videos we love it's either gonna have to be an SD card or a flash drive and you can do a bunch of cool shit with flash drives. They could include a small Emerica logo shaped key chain attached to Jon's new shoe or something.

Thanks Winecrab. Definitely challenging on filming the majority of the video by myself on top of working a 40 hour week at the office but I wouldn't change a thing because I love it so much. I've been filming way too long in my own way to change it up now and go with the new trendy filming this generation seems to love so much. I think most of want to see both the skater and the spot in the same frame and just think that looks best but that's just my opinion.
Wow that's really rad that you put so much time into your skate video collection. I like the flash drive idea but it's probably both easier and cheaper to rip it off YouTube where ripping it and burning it to DVD is a little bit more work.
There won't ever be a Made Chapter 3. That campaign is over and as everybody knows we don't have the same team from those videos and it's just time to move forward and not focus on the past. I'm taking this brand in a classic yet somewhat refreshing direction and hope this video helped show that as it was just the start. As I mentioned in the thread about Emerica being done in 2020, I have a lot of ideas for the brand and still have some tricks up my sleeve and we've only just begun.

I disagree, recently been upping my collection, copped a tube TV with VCR player built in and I got homies with DVD players, though I'm guilty of the PS4 tech. Was happy to see Heroin drop Earth Goblin on VHS, and I'm glad Emerica is doing DVD.

Yeah, recently got rid of a tube tv (along with pretty much everything I own) with a built in vcr cuz I need to pull a Reynolds and start living a minimalist lifestyle I hate VX1000 footage unless it's on a tube tv so I got rid of all my skate videos. VX2100 footage looks a bit better. The othèr day I found Man Down and Baker summer tour 2001 which I think is kinda rare so if anyone wants it I'd be more than happy to mail it to you.

Which one? I filmed the one in Long Beach and it was just me filming. In the photo that was posted on here it looks cool for sure cause the stairs which is a little decieving but for me personally, I like being able to see how fast he goes with that 4 foot or so gap in which you don't see from the bottom. If you're referring to the one in Texas, I wasn't there for that one. There were two angles which both have been floating around on the internet now. I can't speak much about it since I obviously didn't put the video together but it would have been rad to have another angle on the same side of the rail as the top angle but just down more closer towards the landing. Then again, there's no rules in skateboarding and/or filming so that's just my thought as a filmer.

Nope. I can't remember if I posted it in this thread or the other Emerica video thread but no one seems to realize that A. every video has said This Is Skateboarding and This Is Emerica at the end after TIS came out and B. it has said those things in that font in every video post Stay Gold.

Maybe it’s just me, but I feel that cutting to a black screen/textured color screen with the text in a characterful and energetic typeface (animated handstyles in Stay Gold were ❤️❤️❤️) has a totally different visual and emotional effect than superimposing the text over the skate clip in the most ugly default text, before he even fully rolled away from the trick..
Great skating all around, but the titling/branding in this video seemed terrible and really amateur to me, normally not something I pay much attention to, but Emerica was that one brand that always came through with amazing graphic design, titling, and branding, and this video was a huge drop in quality on that front.
Whatevs, I’m probably in the minority feeling this way, and an asshole for being so critical after y’all just worked hard for so long on this project. Idk why this shit matters to me it just does lol

Yeah, I think you might be a minority because It hit at home with me and a lot of people I know. It was just a simple way of saying that Emerica is 100% skateboarding. I’ve rewatched it a few times now and that Dickson part still gives me goosebumps. Song , part, and editing was really on point. Miner has had some shortfalls over the years but he hit this one out of the park. Loved it.

Lol didn’t realize I came of that pretentious saying that. I was just trying to say that when I was younger I might have fallen for a marketing slogan over layed onto skate footage as being a cool addition to a vid, but now I’d kind of rather just see the skate footage without the distracting advertising added in on top of clips.
That being said, I feel like you’re projecting a bit with the “creative thinking and growing” comment. Doesn’t everyone progress over the years and their tastes and thoughts on things change and develop?

I know the car wash is legendary for being crazy. But does anyone know how dicksons ender incline bank compares to the incline of the car wash? Like someone know the incline degrees or geometry or something. It doesn’t matter I’m just curious.

Yeah, recently got rid of a tube tv (along with pretty much everything I own) with a built in vcr cuz I need to pull a Reynolds and start living a minimalist lifestyle I hate VX1000 footage unless it's on a tube tv so I got rid of all my skate videos. VX2100 footage looks a bit better. The othèr day I found Man Down and Baker summer tour 2001 which I think is kinda rare so if anyone wants it I'd be more than happy to mail it to you.
Back on topic: Thanks for the suggestions, I'm gonna go ahead and order a pair of Wino G6 slips. I might need to get a pair of footprint insoles though cuz muy feet are pretty fucked.

I can't give you exact dimensions of the spot but I will say it's fucked. It's at a famous school (Leo bump to 5-0 TSM cover, 17 rail/hubba Zion and Foy skated in that ETN event, 15 rail that has been skated quite a bit) so everyone has seen it or looked at it. It's been tried but no one has been able to do it and the first time we went there Jon got rocked just dropping in 3/4 of the way up and we left. The bank goes straight down the last foot or so of it where it meets the asphalt so it's pretty much taking a drop so quick and going that fast.

I think most of want to see both the skater and the spot in the same frame and just think that looks best but that's just my opinion.

What i loved about TiS was the dark vibes. The music like Danzig, the smiths, the cure... The dark green athmosphere, Skaters that were kinda hip kinda punkish dressed without leaning in to goth or the zero metalhead vibes. This all mixed with super heavy tricks.
Back then it opened to me the perspective that skateboarding can be rewarding, aestetic and all that without having to necessarily be "fun" or "happy" or cool to watch. It even showed me that skateboarding can be finding reward in pain. And that you can be punk without being gimmicky too much.
Zero did this aswell tho and i was a fan BUT they did it super clichee and kinda cheesy. TiS felt true.
Flip sorry did kind of the same to me but with adding the "fun". But the kind of desperate dirty, drug addict, english humor fun. I loved that aswell.
And i was not the only one by far because we all looked and heshed like emerica/baker clones. were i am from it had a bigger impact than the baker video at that time. Baker felt like for stoners. Emerica for the more hip punks.
Dylan Rieders parts hit me and others exactly in the same vain. Skating stylish and dark and not necessarly fun. minimalised on the gimmicks.
Who is doing that right now is Bobby D.
What i wanted to say, sorry i got lost in reminicing, was that i hoped Green would continue were TiS left. I saw the tries but for me what lost me was all the smily "bro"ness in it. and it was too bright.
Still amazing skateboarding and i enjoyed it alot!

Stoked that you're down to be open and honest. I will say that the "bro" ness isn't fake or anything like that. That's just how it is when we go out. It's literally me, Dakota, Dickson and a crew out skating every day and hanging out. We love skating together and always have a good time. Nothing about this video was forced or fake. Just totally natural from Dakota getting on, to putting the video plan together and the overall filming of it but in my opinion that's what made it so special to all of us. Just some skaters doing what we do for a brand we all love and are stoked to be a part of.

I always thought Gravis was doing what Emerica should have done at the time. The Hip feel behing the Gravis project was really close to TIS, while Emerica kinda Zero-ed itself going for a more Baker/Gimmicky/bro/rednecky feel.
At the time imagine a parallel world where you take out Figgy, Collin and Braydon and put Dylan and Jake Johnson and Frostner on Emerica
