Title: Favorite cannabis strain
Post by: drewsmahgoos on February 14, 2020, 10:34:30 AM
Just wondering what everyone's favorite strains are. I'm a huge fan of indicas and love a mellow, sedating, relaxing kind of high.

All time favorites are Goldmine OG, Abusive OG, Pink Kush, White Knuckles, Superglue OG.

Would love to talk cannabis...

Don't do it any more. Still, way back I smoked some crazy home grown shit that made me both clear and trippy in the head at the same time. No idea what it was but I still remember.

Strawberry cough.

second that

recently had kali mist that was quite good, if a bit heavy on the perception.

i always go with classic jack herer. it's not available often so it's always a little bit of a nostalgia hit.

don't like weed that tastes too indicay/hashy.

I have plenty of favorites,  as a breeder you get quite into the experience.

Gmo fuel from red scare seed co is really good.

Blue magoo IBL from more love farms is great

lucillesOG from spain is amazing

I'm about to tun a strain that makes zero sense and piqued my interest,  jack herer x black domina x pre 98 bubba. Such an odd mix

lemon tree.

I just finished up some wedding cake from a rec shop in Massachusetts. Was very high quality bud. I found it a little too heady for me. Was nice and sedating but kind of made me think too much. I love anything with lemon though so I'll have to try lemon tree.

"Indica" and "sativa" refer to the structure of the plant and how it grows, not the effects of the high. The whole 'indica is a body high and sativa is a head high' is bullshit that clueless budtenders say to their clueless customers. Plus, everything is a hybrid now anyways and most strains sold in dispensaries are mystery cuts and just given names because they have to call it something.

Yeah they're all hybrids but that doesn't stop drastic differences in the high from existing. Terpenes are still a thing and very much prevalent in different amounts in different strains and there are still huge differences because of that. I have mimosa and white knuckles along with 7 other strains and theres no way you'd dab the white knuckles and have any high close to the mimosa. The knuckles is insanely sedating with massive couch lock while the mimosa is upbeat. It's very clear for everyone trying it. So yeah, the indica sativa thing is knocked off but that doesn't mean there aren't differences in strains and that those differences don't have a huge effect.

I live in Adelaide, my favorite strain is "whatever the fuck I can get".

EDIT
Also, how much do most people on here smoke?
I've been trying to work out if my usage is high, I spend $130 a week on half on oz.

half an ounce? like 142 grams a week?

damn son!

i smoke around one gram a day. i smoke daily, but not all day. i usually land around 2-3 pretty green spliffs an evening. been pretty much constantly smoking the same amount, but spend a bit more, sometimes less, depending on prices at the moment.

the cost of my habit is pretty much the only thing bumming me out about my consumption, since it doesn't really stand in the way of a lot of things i enjoy. i'd like to just be able to grow myself, but living in the city and lacking a space and since it's still very much very illegal where i live, that's not really an option rn.

I've been smoking about a half ounce a week or two and probably 2 grams of wax a week. That's split between two people though(my girlfriend and I) and luckily she pays for it at the moment so it's not too bad of a setup.

I used to have a serious drug problem and marijuana has been a life saver for me. It's not a perfect drug by any means but it certainly helps me day to day with quite a few issues.

i am superimpressed by how much you guys can smoke. like you having the lungs to smoke as much, making it all this weed disappear.

i know i sound like a troll now but i mean it. i had heavier times but feel like i can't smoke anymore than i do now. i assume none of you spliff either, it's probably pure greenies. i am still a nicotine addict by way smoking spliffs and it's kind of ridiculous.

that said sketch lord, if you get half an ounce for 130 australian you get your green for almost a tenth or so the price i pay. if i'd get weed that cheap i'd probably smoke ten times more, too, ha ha.

drews, sharing it and smoking it over 1-2 weeks sounds more approachable to me. happy you could kick whatever heavy habit you partook in. main reason for me to smoke, apart from enjoying smoking and the high, is(was at least) stress relief and how it's helping me concentrate on stuff more than a mere 5 minutes.

also i love smoking weed and would never disrespect anyone for it. unless you forget to do shit like feeding your kids and pets, then fuck you.

If you want to save money why not smoke bowls? I am a cheap bastard but I am high for 4 hrs a day 5 days a week and I can make an 1/8 last for 2 months. The key is to put just enough in the bowl to fill up your lungs and hold it for a min. or so. I know it’s fun smoking joints and blunts but it is wasteful. Maybe just roll up for special occasions?

Out here in NJ you gotta find someone who has cancer or Crohn’s disease to stay lit, so when you got a sack you gotta make it last.

Lol wtf? There is 28.4 grams in an ounce.

But in the cannabis world, its rounded down to 28g.

yo.

i knew that i fucked up somehow. i was like "wow sick, how much is an ounce again", then went to an online recalculator. you now we use commas around here and metric instead of points and i used a comma for 0,5 oz and it would give out 141.something grams. and i was thinking damn, last time i checked, wasn't an ounce like 30 ml/g? but i am not familiar with ounces, so i was thinking the pc is probably right.

i think i could smoke 30 grams in a week or two but probably shouldn't since apparently i wouldn't be able to grasp the concept of units correctly at all anymore i think.

I pretty much use bongs, although if I'm getting low before pay I'll switch to the genius pipe as it uses less.
On my last night at work I'll roll maybe 2 spliffs for the ride home.
Have a Volcano but really ever use it.

I couldn't really stop now as I've somehow developed epilepsy in mt late 30's and although I take meds I'm pretty sure the weed also helps. Luckily although my woman doesn't smoke she's totally cool with it.

The last time I used marijuana it was a >90% CBD blend in Las Vegas. I was on a work trip and my boss peer pressured me into getting high. Even with that small amount, I was curled up into a ball and my world collapsed around me.

To answer the thread, anything with the weakest trace of THC.

Do people really pay attention to names? I always felt like they were just a selling point.
Anyway, I prefer something that gives me a great body high; almost like you're weightless in a pool of water. Used to get some like that back when I was in Cleveland, OH. Made me feel like I was Tom Penny in his prime.

The names are legit if you actually know what genetics youre getting from seedbanks/cuttings/friends or dispensaries.

You can smoke a sativa like kali myst and skate for hours. You can smoke a hybrid like the OGs and get anxiety or just and in the middle thing, or smoke an indica and get that heavy feeling. Names are just crosses of breeds. You want to make something purple, you cross this strain with a purple. When its legit, its very meaningful. Height of plants, easy of growing, potency all are very relevant when growing. Or if you like a sativa but its growing too tall and lanky, you may want to cross it with a short stout plant to make it easier to grow. When smoking its less noticable.

White widow

Breeding staple. Classic

As is pre 98 bubba kush

Blue dream is one of the worst strains I've ever smoke tbh. But many people grow it/cross it because one thing it does well is yeild(which means money)

It's also very hermie prone and does not grow well under any stress

this is true, but it's good to have options and names to go by, if even just to avoid certain stuff when you know you don't like it.

Very puzzled at all the people claiming all the strains are the same in this thread.

I tend to encounter hybrids most often and I’m happy with that.

My wife is insanely good with indoor plants and if it were legal in my state I 100% would grow.

Lamb’s Bread (Breath) -landrace Jamaican Sativa
Garlic Breath - GMO or Garlic cookies/mendo breath
Flo- Purple Thai/Afghani indica
Impossible to choose one, first one is sweet and the other 2 are spicy as hell!
Flo is great , so is gmo

I'll be breeding with both this year using SCS lavender FLO and RRSC gmo strains

If youre looking for a GREAT strains with some variability. Check out Caramelo. Its Lavender Indica leaning and Lavender Sativa leaning crossed to caramelo. I think delicious seeds but not sure where it came from. Best frangrance, coated with fur and purple all over the place (unless very hot)

I got like 4 phenos from a pack of 5 and did lots of breeding with that strain. Very overlooked

I have gmo live resin and I grew Critical Flo for a few runs. Vritical Kali Myst was my fav sativa out of the criticals. Then Critical Sensi Star which is a classic high yeilding and very strong yet easy to grow one.

How many phenotypes did you think youde get with seed?

If it's not a clone of the genotype, every seed planted is a phenotype.

Not trying to sound like an ass, but the phenotype is the genotype x environment.

So every seed will grow slightly differently

That's why s1s are becoming popular.  It's as close to a clone as you can get in a seed form.

What you just endorsed was most likely a filial generation of f1 or f2 which is very unstable. People should not pay for those seeds as they have not been worked.

Add the fact it's a polyhybrid makes it even worse in terms of stability.

As a breeder, I can say we work the strain to become as stable as possible through various methods.

F1s and f2s are generally given away as "testers" because we cannot guarantee great medicines, and we also use it as a shortcut through reputable growers to gather data and speed up the process.

I was expecting significant variation and maybe 1 or two keepers for mothers, but each had significant diff internodal spacing so I did a lot of training w those. I kept the stout Indica purple one for my mother plant and breeding. This was everyones favorite and I ran it for almost a year SOG.  Some strains are very consistant and stable and provide very similar plants even from seed in my experience, just slight variations and I wouldnt consider it a diff pheno unless one is clearly sativa leaning and one is stout.  This is about 10 years or so ago. Yeah this place

I didnt look at the link yet but I appreciate your honesty.

If you found a keeper mom that's consistent from a good pheno hunt, that's fucking great! I'm happy for you

I absolutely hate when on paper it looks great, 200 plants later and nature just says "nope, I'm not giving you what you want" lol.

That happened to me last year in a massive grow and I found two keepers out of close to 300 plants.

So frustrating

EDIT

Looked at the link, that's a feminized polyhybrid,  good luck stabilizing it in the next 2-3 years.

Still, my hats of to ya, at least your trying

100% right. It lasted a year before I had to put the mother into flowering and male flowers started popping up. After that all my breeding was done with reg seeds. Closet & tent operation but really fun times. Soothing and i miss it.  attached some pic links. First of the caramello on her deathbed and you can see a male flower on the tip, the Alien Hallucination, then Alien shoes which was my cross of Alien Hallucination x Strawberry diesel. That I had to dc cus I was selling the house but it was my fav result.

someone mentioned lamb's breath/bread. that's my all time favorite strain. new some kids pumping that shit out 10 years ago, then they killed the mom. Haven't seen it since.

knew some other kids who had a few different phenos of blue dream x LA confidential and blue dream x Gods gift. they were pretty much no name strains, true boutique exotic shit- the grower refused to name it, just called it LBD or LBG- and when it first came around, folks were like "this is fire, but what's up with the no-name?" The homies needed to stop working and after a handful of years, people are still saying "daaaamn, where's that LBD, son?"  God, they were perfect plants at 4800ft.

high elevation durban poison is usually off the hook. I prefer landrace sativas rather than hybrid crosses. I find a pure sativa to be less anxiety inducing than a cross.

Harborside put out some killer Star Dawg cuts a few years back. Shit was absolute fuego.

I miss me some trainwreck. Haven't seen any in the wild for a hot minute. Pineapple trainwreck... mmm

Blue dream x la confidential was bred in oregon and it's called jager kush.

The other I'm not sure about but its def out there since everyone seems to have used blue dream in breeding years back.

I've seen plenty of that jager, while the named genetics are supposedly the same, the phenos are nowhere near what these homies had going on. I know old growers in southern oregon who say Jager it's a descendant of Hindu Kush. All really know is that it's nothing like the LBD in taste, smell, structure. Blue dream can be a great strain- high yield and easy to grow, green crack/green queen is the same. Got some GDPxGreen Crack in a jar right now. It's nice.

Straight blue dream hasn't been easy to find in the past couple years, buyers all want the cookies and shit. But man, BD and GC are so nice for high elevation outdoor cultivation. I'm glad to not see so much Mr. Nice and Hash Plant anymore, that's for sure.

Yeah, very valid point. 100 breeders might breed the same damn plant and it's never the same. Look on eu.seefinder and you might find the original lineage to grow.

Green crack is all over the fuckin place here. I've grown and had seeds for quite some time.

I dont care for blue dream either but I dont blame people for liking it. To me it's really mild, and same problem as mentioned before, lotsa different phenos and not original cuts.

Cookies is such a fuckin hype strain too. Ive maybe come across 2-3 cookie crosses I liked outta hundreds.

You should all look into some smaller "craft breeders " that are creating some awesome fuckin cannabis.

I cannot wait to start my next project. So fun.

I have a great medical glue x deepchunkf12 male that's ready to get his load on

Hm, don't think I've had "the white" but I just finished some white knuckles the other day. It's a cross between Mr. White and Kimbo Kush. Really heavy hitting indica. My absolute favorite kind of smoke.

If you like Master Kush, try Kosher Kush. Awesome Kush variant that I'm in love with. Also, Pink Kush was great as well. I can't get enough Kush to be honest. Every indica leaning Kush I've ever had has sat well with me. I've become such a big fan which is crazy because I used to think I loved sativas the most.

Right not I have some Cherry Pie wax. A little Super Silver Haze bud which is nice, and some Girl Scout cookies and the tiniest bit of Mk Ultra left.

The GSC, which I didn't like for the longest time, has finally started to grow on me. Previously I found a propensity for depression on that strain but now I've really come to enjoy it. Still prefer a heavier indica dominant strain though. I love couch lock and being able to sit still with indica. Something I can't really do otherwise.

Damn, glad to see Master Kush getting some love.

I don't know if anything better after a stressful day than some Master Kush. It's easily the best end of your day strain I have ever had. It also really helps after a day of hard, painful skating too. Make's you super relaxed and relatively pain free but one of the few indices that doesn't make me immediately tired after smoking it. It'll make you hungrier than a mother fucker though lol.

edit: To the dude that said he's never had the white, I've only had it about 3-4 times but this picture (below) I found is exactly what it looked like every time. Probably 90% of the time I'll choose a sativa/sativa heavy strain over an indica and even though the white is supposedly 60% indica, if I didn't know and you told me it was a 100% sativa I'd have believed you. It has almost zero body high. every single time it gave me a gint head high and as someone with pretty bad ADHD it helps me focus rather well. It feels like a strain I'd be super productive on and would make tedious tasks bearable. Oh taste and smell of it was mostly piney in my opinion. Amazing strain though. Not my favorite strain ever (probably Jack Herer or Tangie, maybe even Sour D would be a little higher) but if you told me I could only smoke the white for the rest of my life id be perfectly okay with that.

I've been really into low mg THC candies lately. My homie hooked it up with some things called space gems, they're 10mg vegan gummies made with ice water hash. 5-10mg is the perfect amount to get through the day of work and class while functioning and smiling.

I just started taking these daily aroud Dec 25 2019, and its been a greeting from Jah, for sure.I am finding however that the tolerance builds fairly quickly. But while the low dose might not be getting me high, it's really helping mitigate the stress of reintegrating into a mainstream world.

People need to realize,  as a medicine, getting fucked right up is not the goal.

That's ok sometimes too, but the balance is finding what works for you efficiently, and utilizing that

I've been really into low mg THC candies lately. My homie hooked it up with some things called space gems, they're 10mg vegan gummies made with ice water hash. 5-10mg is the perfect amount to get through the day of work and class while functioning and smiling.

25mg is my sweet spot, but that's awesome how you see the benefits of it.

You dont always need alot to achieve just feeling good

I just started taking these daily aroud Dec 25 2019, and its been a greeting from Jah, for sure.I am finding however that the tolerance builds fairly quickly. But while the low dose might not be getting me high, it's really helping mitigate the stress of reintegrating into a mainstream world.

you hit the nail spot on, brother. I spent most of my teens and early 20s smoking blunts- a quarter of nug a day in a box of strawberry phillies minis was the expectation, until it didn't work any more. I had to stop blazing for about 5 years due to issues that inevitably arose. just in the past few years, especially since i quit drinking, I've found that moderation and respecting my limits is the key to benefit and enjoyment. Sometimes the hardest thing, at first anyways, was chilling with the homies, or even my mom, and having to turn down a hit. ha ha ha but now, i know what feels good and roll with it@
