Haven't played it yet but I will cop when it comes out for Xbox cuz after 10 years I'm finally getting tired of Skate 3
Shoutout to my nigga Nightspeeds on YouTube with the good Skater XL and Session vids tho
-
I’ve played Sessions. It’s so fucking hard to control. It’s like playing skate 3 in stick shift.

Ask Rad Rat!

Really hyped. Was bummed when they "delayed" (more like cancelled) Sessions console release back in October so I'm dying for something other than S3.
-
I mean I'm a little excited cuz I wont have to play skate 3 anymore, but I'd rather EA just stop screwing around and make skate 4
-
the controls seem really fucking hard to learn
shoutout nightspeeds
-
session just got ea skate controls added in the last update

If this had been a Death Stranding-type of game where you struggle to keep a heavy-set skater boi upright and on his board whilst traversing various hills and fjords then I think it might have had a chance at success, but as it stands it's doomed.

Session is fun. They update the game somewhat regularly. Some decent mod maps too. It has gotten way better over the past year. Controls are good, don't see the big complaint there. Takes a minute to configure all the settings how you like it, but you can basically make it as easy or as hard as you want.
Yea, the placeholder animations are a bit stiff. Doesn't really bother me.
-
It’s trash. Session is probably worse, but both are terrible borderline unplayable games. People who are expecting these to be a replacement to the ea skate series are going to be seriously disappointed, just a heads up.
what are you a trick liner? If I can film a line at a realistic spot it's an adequate replacement

The official release was just announced for July. I think it's the best skating game I've ever played. It's a personal preference but here's why: each foot is controlled by a joystick for pop, flick, and board control. It doesn't use standard animations so you can make any trick different in a variety of ways. You can also make your rotations different for spinning (normal spin is used by the triggers) by controlling the feet while you spin. No other skate game gives you steaze control. It takes a little time to get used to but it makes the most sense. Get in on the early release now

Bought it last year. I think I’ve logged 10 hours on it.
My biggest dislike is that just feels too slow and sluggish.
The thing I want most from a skateboarding game is to have fun. Skate XL just doesn’t do it for me.
I get more enjoyment out of landing tricks, building on them, making lines and sometimes getting a little crazy. Skate 3 hardcore mode combines all of that perfectly.

Neither this nor Session have any weight to the physics. No weight in the turns, just feel like balloons with legs that can do tricks. Drives me fuckin' mad.

Session is way better. At first when skater xl came out last year and session was in its early days, xl seemed clearly better. But session has improved immensely while xl has stayed the same and is boring to me now. Session is a lot more realistic and challenging, yet once you get used to it the controls are great. And regular updates, with much more coming. They are only at update 0.0.4 or something.

I don’t know what some people are on here. Skater XL already is a truly hypnotizing skate sim BUT: it’s thanks to the community mods. The gameplay trailer was a letdown, and it doesn’t reflect how precise and free the game feels. Session doesn’t compare. Session looks great, but plays clunky and the chatacter seems out of touch with its environment.
It is what it is. It’s a true SIMULATOR. It’s not done.. but if what you want to do is find your style, skate and film tricks - it’s better than anything that’s ever been http://youtu.be/7MCBpoM_Pck

I personally prefer Skater XL, but they put out the least appealing looking trailers.
