I notice Mason has been leading the SOTY 2020 run with a couple parts that have a lot of old footage in it. I always wondered if SOTY shouldn’t be given to a skater who does the most during that current year, and with this COVID outbreak it’s gonna be interesting to see who puts more footage out filmed in 2020 alone.
In the other hand, fuck SOTY. I’ll never be ok with David over Guy.

While I do agree with the sentiment, Guy got robbed.
Most parts take time. Ave had worked on the propeller part for 5 years. People stack up footy.

Why? He's clearly been earmarked for it and has the sponsors to really push it. He'd be a much worthy winner than Milton.

Then a bunch of people should have their SOTY's taken away. You think Ave's or MJ's part footage was primarily from the years Propellor and Fully Flared were released? Hell, Jamie Foy got it primarily off the fact he killed it on KOTR on Vice which was filmed the year prior.
As @Atiba Applebum said, view it like the Grammy's or Oscar's, it is about year of release.

Maybe Cobra’s second win in 2009. He just had a handful of tricks in that shared part with Asta. Other than that, he won from Berrics clips and that Wallenberg competition.

I didn't know there were people who thought anyone but Milton could have gotten SOTY last year. Also no one is even close to Mason at this point.

There isn’t one. Mason is a footage machine I’m just saying it’s entirely possible that there’s 2-3 year old footage in there. Could have been shot by a Nike filmer when he was on element who held onto the footage til a Nike project came out. Either way it doesn’t matter it counts toward the year it’s put out. SOTY doesn’t really matter either

True... but as other posters have mentioned above, it's completely common place to stack clips and then release them in a banging part when you feel ready. So what's the problem?
That clip would have obviously been in his Peace part were it two years old. The oldest it could be is something like a year and a half old, assuming the board wasn’t dead stock when he was skating it.
