Who's yours? I felt this might be a fun, lighthearted thread. One that shouldn't lead to arguments or the need for immediate follow up responses.

What a wonderful idea for a thread!
Chief Wiggum is consistently great, although his incompetent cop shtick gets old in the later years.
Mark Hammill as himself is one of my favorite guest appearances.
I agree with the guy above, all of Phil Hartman's characters were great. Lionel Hutz always gets me. I love the episode when he is babysitting the kids, and it cuts to a shot of him burning all of his stuff in the fireplace. Lisa asks, "Mr. Hutz, why are you burning your stuff?" And he replies, "The man you know as Lionel Hutz is no more. Say hello to Miguel Sanchez!" ;D ;D ;D

Been charging through a full series rewatch, seasons 2-9 are truly pinnacle television. I think today it's really easy to underestimate the impact that the Simpsons has had on the modern comedy zeitgeist, but watching back you can see a lot of the absurdist humor that became more prevalent into the 2000's and on.
The Van Houten's are the favorite, but I always enjoy a good Jasper/Frostillicus appearance.

Lionel Hutz aka Miguel Sanchez aka Dr Nguyen Van Phuoc is no doubt my favourite character, every line is gold. “Mr Simpson, this is the most blatant case of fraudulent advertising since my suit against the film The Neverending Story”. Seeing him holding that belt of scotch in Armin Tamzarian’s sig makes me laugh every time, I love this thread haha

I stopped buying the DVDs after season 15. I think that the earlier seasons have more depth to their stories and humor and thus hold up better to rewatching, but I agree that up to about 15 and 16, most episodes are still pretty good, just not "classics".
Edit: Also, the clip you posted is great. Albert Brooks is probably the most underrated recurring guest voice actor on the show

It’s definitely good longer than most claim. But even a few years ago, after dropping off from watching it, I caught some of the episodes from the 20s seasons when FXX was doing one of their “every single episode” marathons and thought they were really good. Maybe not classic level but still well above what a lot of other shows were / are doing.
They still average solid viewership in today’s TV market (as much as that has changed throughout their run) so they must be doing something right.

Lurper, there's some random discolorations in the early seasons. Season 4 is a little late for it tho, so maybe just an animation glitch?
In season 1 there's some scenes where both of Chief Wiggum's underling cops (I'm forgetting their names) are yellow - and the earliest version of Smithers being brown.
Wouldn't have happened if they had their dental plans.

Such a hilarious and tangible storyline - and the Lord of the Flies-esque revolution sequence that follows the appearance of Krunchy... now that is a sequence I'll never forget. Comedy climax. From Bart's paramilitary TV appearance with the captive Kent Brockman, to Homer suddenly regaining stress weight and losing his regrown hair while watching the broadcast - fucking gold.

Yes! Let's see, that was 2007 so I was still in high school. I remember very well going with my dad to see the movie - it was really a great experience, and remains a great memory with him.
I used to get flamed for liking the Simpsons as a kid - I'm the youngest, so my older siblings would tear me apart for whatever I liked (which I guess was pretty easy as it was primarily The Simpsons and Linkin Park, hahaha). But to see the feature film with my pops all those years later felt like family closure. Like when you grow up and can have a laugh about being a stupid teenager with your parents - that type of thing.
We laughed our asses off. I have grown to prefer the early-Simpsons humor like many in this thread, but that movie will always have a special place for me - if only because of getting to see it in theaters with my dad ;D

That's a great story @Armin Tamzarian. My dad was a workaholic who spent his weekdays working will 11am in the office and his weekends working till 7pm in the office. Probably because he wasn't much of a family man and found comfort in his office. Despite this he doted on me (the youngest of 3) the most, he expressed his love for us through short 1-on-1 shopping trips to the mall. But my favorite memory with him was dragging him to watch the shitty Street Fighter movie with my brother. I thought he would like it since it was an action flick and he loved action stars like Jean Claude Van Dam, Steven Segull, Arnold and Stallone. He probably thaught the movie was alright but was pissed when I stepped in dog shit after the movie and tried to get into his brand new company Mercedes. Made me put the shoes in bag and ride bare foot home.
Back to the Simpsons movie - watched it in the cinema with my brother, caught a morning show before our uni lectures. It was alright, didn't have the same wit of the original series with too much slap stick, but a decent family outing.

Rocklobster that rules! Hahaha, the bagged shoes. Sometimes the weirdest memories with our old mans turn into precious moments in hindsight - I love throwback cinema visit stories with family too. Going to the movie theater for the first time in the 90s with my pops changed my life - the awe of the bright proscenium screen in a pitch-black room... and naturally, the first scene was the Millennium Falcon loudly gliding into view ;D I'm not much of a Star Wars fan, but god dam what a powerful first cinema experience for a kid.
But yeah, I can't say I'd ever re-watch the Simpsons Movie for the same reason - it lacks that classic slapstick! I never thought of attaching the phrase 'slapstick' to the original Simpsons seasons, but that's perfect!

Who else almost has every episode in some shape or form? I started with taping episodes on VHS to collecting the DVD seasons, but thanks to the internet, I have an almost complete collection up to the most current season.
My favorite episode I watched today was the Johnny Cash episode and my wife realized she never watched the Skinner/Armin episode as we were watching it.

I'm one of those weirdos that refuses to watch anything past the like 9th and 10th season. Once I get there I just start back up with season 1. Those seasons in particular were the ones I grew up watching as a kid and it just gives me such crazy nostalgia and joy. I even got my kids into them. I had them all on dvd when they Target would sell the box sets. Im pretty sure I still have them somewhere in storage.

I feel like Season 4 has a lot of episodes that aren't regarded as classics as much as from Season 2 or 3 or 5, but there's a lot of gold. Like off the top of my head, I don't think of Itchy & Scratchy Movie as a classic episode, but it has a lot of great gags and is meaningful at the same time. I love when Homer tells the story about how he held his breath as a kid until he got a baseball glove.

Sorry for taking so long to answer. I have read The Time Machine Did It. It was very Swartzwelder-y in that some of the jokes were great, some I didn't get at all, and some I had to read five times until I got it and then I laughed a lot

Love this thread! My favs are Barney, Otto and any Phil Hartman voiced characters. I still have my old Mattels from 1990 and a few randoms from Burger King I think it was. I can't believe I didn't see this thread until now ate the whole thing.
