hardware stores usually have a hex head bolt that would work. the only down side is that the threads would be different from skate kingpins so you need to pick up a new nut. also you might not be able to use a standard skate tool to tighten/loosen since the the new nut might be a different size. lucky for me, my local skateshop still stocks the specific kingpin to work for my stage 8s, they aint cheap though running like $4 a pop but if that means i can still run the stage 8s, its a small price to pay. next time im there, ill ask them where they source them and ill pass the info onto you. are you in the states?

Krux down low kingpin is what you probably want. Fit perfectly in stage 8s, fixes the terrible clearance. Try some Ace hi bushings for an extra treat. I'm running my stage 8 146s like that and loving it.

Hey!

Thanks for the tips guys.

I might try the Krio solution and see.

Bought new indies in the meantime but keen to resurrect the 8s

Thanks again

I have some Krux DL kingpins in some Stage 8 146s and it works great. Stage 8s are an amazing truck with the right bushings (I have 88a Indy conicals in mine). A bit of axle slip but so it goes...

Love to get my hands on some 156s.

Pretty much any hex head kingpin or inverted kingpin will work in those trucks, of which I have way too many parts and things like that which I would be happy to post, but if you are not in AU, I don't really send internationally.

Most of the older / bigger shops still have hex head kingpins in their stock but it depends where you are and what you can get hold of.

Even old sets of trucks (or single trucks) of any brand will have hex head kingpins you can remove too.

Thanks

I actually tried a hex head kingpin but it wouldn't fit.
The head was too big.

BUT I may look into this.

Re did not fit - was it the shaft of the kingpin or the hex head in the baseplate?

I know some parts I have had to machine down a bit to make them fit and an angle grinder is my favourite tool for making things work, but the longer way was scraping down the head on some medium rough concrete too, when we were at a skate park and didn't have any tools to speak of.  Did that on each side of the hex head for a minute and it went in fairly well but that was twenty years ago before kingpins went to the new fixed in versions.
