Post by: KoldStrejke on October 12, 2020, 08:51:25 AM
I used to long distance Skate when I was Younger. in Sacramento. But I was thinking about Skating the Length of Santa Monica Blvd. From, 4000 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90029, To, Santa Monica Blvd & Ocean Ave.

has any one in L.A. Done this? when is best time of day to Start the ride? Is it to Dangerous?

This Cruise Route has been on my to do list, for since I can remember.

I haven't skated the full length it it, but I've skated from Culver City to the beach probably over 100 times. I usually take Venice Blvd. because of the wider sidewalks and fewer pedestrians. I also regularly ride my bike from Downtown LA to Venice Beach (taking Exposition/Jefferson/Venice or Ballona Creek) and don't think it is dangerous at all.

I'd probably leave early morning on a weekend to avoid the heavy foot traffic near West Hollywood. Personally, I would take Wilshire so you could complete Downtown to the beach instead of starting at some random point in East Hollywood.

Genuinely curious, how are you deciding which words you should capitalize?

Seems like he’s capitalizing place names aka proper nouns

That sounds fun.  When I interned in NYC the interns took the train to somewhere way up in the Bronx and basically, "Hiked" the entire length of Manhattan, stopping for lunch and various bars along the way.

I know this is a super old thread, but that last part:  flex seal on the tail of the board…does that work to prevent razor tail?  That sound like a good idea maybe

It won’t. It’s just rebranded rubberized spray can undercoating, same crap you can grab at any auto parts store.

Did KoldStrejke ever complete the journey? Judging from his account and the linked Flickr, did he only exist to skate SM Blvd? Why did he spray Flex Seal on the tail?
