Title: LIFESTYLE THREAD
Post by: matty_c on October 19, 2020, 04:24:11 AM
alright so there was a mean one going on skateboard.com.au back in the day. I wanna see your filthy rooms in your skate houses I wanna see your backyard setups I wanna see your squats I wanna see your shitty toilets. I wanna see your weekends away. I wanna see the fish you caught

I’m starting off with my evening. I got old and boring. The food I got fucking sucks it was just the closest I could walk to my ankles killing me. Pool and bundy helps slightly. Someone post their feral room

Sure. Normally I'd be wrecked från squats and deadlifts but my throat is kind of sore, so I'm playing MGSV to pass the time.

33, live in Stockholm. My appartment is brand new. No kids. My plan is to save as much cash as possible to buy another, newer, Alfa, Guilia, this time. I'll be having zero fun for six months to come.

So imagine super gay gym pics. Also, I work in finance so I'm real fucking loser. Most of the time depression and anxiety are my friends. Oh, yeah. I had to move so my two best friends are far away  from here.

I.. that's it.

I while away the years with my hubby - my lifestyle is really being a romantic melvin ;D

Here's our kitty cat, some doom shirt stenciling, our favorite haunted church, and my dusty old fuzz maker

THIS brings me great peace; I can practically hear the purring through the computer screen.
I could stare at it for hours, thank you for that. Ther's something about a cat nailing those lifestyle hammers that puts me at ease.
Would definitely recommend (being a cat) to anybody undecided about what to do with their life.

The house I've been living in the last year and a half is a mid century home with an interesting "crawl space". Seems like it may have been renovated a bit for a family that had kids so they'd have a place to play? You can't stand up in there, but it's all carpeted and has a built in desk. It also has a long skinny section out of frame to the left with another entrance at that end.

I turned it into my own private den/office. It's where I spend all my time when I'm home cause I don't really like the random strangers I live with. Kinda hate that Jason Jessee turned out to be such a loser cause that deck was my favorite graphic back in the day - I'll probably sell it soon. High Five deck sold for $650 US back in the summer, put my Ray Barbee up in it's place. The deck above my head is a graphic I did for a local brand, Kitsch.

That den looks peaceful & like a great place to study. Why don't you like your roommates?

I had to move out of another place and was having trouble finding anything, so a friend linked me up with a friend of his who needed a room mate in his 4 bedroom place. I didn't know his friend or any of the other people, and they turned out to be total losers. 2 are alcoholics, one of those is also a coke head, the other is an asshole who flips out on us in group texts about the littlest things when he's drunk (he's a super angry drunk, and he's drunk every night after work). He's also a huge hypocrite and much more guilty of the things he's getting mad at us about. Acts like its' "his" house.

It's a shame because the house is awesome, otherwise. Drives me nuts living with them, but Vancouver's rent is out of control (I pay almost $900 to live with 3 other people - any 1 bedroom solo place starts at minimum $1200 for a shithole basement suite on the outskirts of the city). I'm stuck here, essentially.

I am chilling on my futon, scratching my belly and icing my shin. I hurt the shin skating street with a few friends today. I live with my girlfriend in a small flat in the center of a large German city. No kids. We are both very much underemployed and have been stuck at home alot due to this pandemic. I very much enjoy the quiet time when she's asleep or when she goes outside. It is not that I dislike being with her, its is just that when I am with her all the time I start to enjoy it when she's gone. She made me some vegetarian chilli for dinner earlier and while she watched her sunday crime show I played the trumpet for a little bit. I try to get better at playing funk licks and I trying to learn to "feel the off-beat". It was a bit of disaster. I guess I was too tiered from skating skating to concentrate properly.
Tomorrow I don't have to work, but I need to finish an article which is due at the end of the month. It will be my second published academic paper.
After typing this all out I feel kind of cultured now. Weird.

that grinder sucks though. i was on a budget after my last one broke. gotta get an upgrade asap. it's super loud and produces way to many fines and i'm not gonna start to sift my grounds. that's too much even for me.

i used to drink liters of coffee a day, now i'm down to 2-3 cups a day and feel way more chill.

EDIT: the water boiler sucks, too, too much plastic, but it still works, so i use it. the green thing sticking in from the right is a brita water filter thingy.

I had decided to have a quiet new years but I was up round 1am taking dog for a piss and if I’m honest I was bored and salty for blowing my friends of
But I met some kid and his missus in the lift
She was hot in a bikini at night kind of way
Went up to theirs and did some of their mdma
They were playing house music over 90’s rap videos It was kinda sick but I felt old
They broke out the nitrous which I would usually love to do with my friends but they weren’t my friends and I felt shitty watching them
I did some nitrous too and fucked of to shit in my own toilet

They got rums up there though so I’ll probably wipe my arsehole and head back up there

I picked up a Baratza Encore as my first electric grinder earlier this year after hand grinding for years. I should have done it sooner. It's pretty low-end as far as grinders go, but I mainly do pour over/aeropress and I've got no complaints. It does seem kinda loud, but I don't really have a benchmark against it. It is kind of messy due to the static buildup, but overall not that bad. Aside from the grind consistency, I like that all parts are serviceable so I expect to have it for years to come.

I also cut down on coffee from 3-4 cups to 2. I do feel better for the most part. But I also love drinking coffee, so I've been thinking about buying some decaf just so I can have another cup per day. I've also seen some roasters around me doing half decaf roasts, so maybe that's another option.

good choice on the encore. that would have been my go to for a budget one, but i was in a pinch and really broke as heck when i bought mine, which is some 50 bucks-ish grinder that seems to be sold under different brandnames. mine has insane static as well.

there is a hack to prevent some static, just put a drop of water to your beans in the hopper before you grind. just one drop will usually do. the grounds will come out fluffier, you will still have some static, but way less than before. helps a lot with my grinder.

decaf has come a long way, 5 years ago i'd decline any decaf. but since it's not treated like trash like before, roasters actually came up with pleasant roasts. i'd still say they never have the complexity of non decafed beans, since a lot of flavor components get lost in decaffeinization, but they can taste nice, even if a little one note.

if you want to get naturally caffeine-poor coffee, look out for bourbon pointu beans(mostly grown in isle de reunion). but they can have a pretty funky taste, very fermenty. or you could check if you can, against all odds, get some charrieriana beans. these seem to be super rare and barely cultivated. couldn't cop yet.

excited for yemenia to become available, that stuff must be crazy tasty according to coffee people who had it.

past 5 years have had a few different pads

(https://i.ibb.co/XCvc2pF/20161025-000755.jpg) (https://ibb.co/XCvc2pF)

(https://i.ibb.co/yBNqrpf/20161025-000932.jpg) (https://ibb.co/yBNqrpf)

(https://i.ibb.co/55yqhSV/20161026-123410.jpg) (https://ibb.co/55yqhSV)

I was staying in this pop up on the hill for a minute. It was free and solo, which was alright until 3 feet of snow fell and I didn't have time to shovel the roof before it collapsed.

(https://i.ibb.co/bKW4VQK/20161119-114819.jpg) (https://ibb.co/bKW4VQK)

then there was the quonset hut for part of that winter

(https://i.ibb.co/Snv5xzZ/20161115-100159.jpg) (https://ibb.co/Snv5xzZ)

(https://i.ibb.co/k9HkPHN/20181025-162326.jpg) (https://ibb.co/k9HkPHN)

then I moved into this actual house and had the attic to myself. My roommates were two gals in their early 40s. It was quiet and I got laid here, a lot. There was a pipe running floor thru roof and I was dating a stripper for a bit who used to give me dances on it. This was a dope spot at $500/month.

(https://i.ibb.co/6tM8hH8/DSC-0135.jpg) (https://ibb.co/6tM8hH8)

(https://i.ibb.co/3Rd8Yzk/52517.jpg) (https://ibb.co/3Rd8Yzk)

then, my partner from the east coast moved out, I gave up the bachelor pad, and we moved into this little cottage at the bottom of a mountain, abutting a redwood forest. my share of rent went up to $700. This was a sweet spot but none of the windows opened outside the bathroom and being in the redwoods, sunlight was minimal. All the animals were cool though, deer, mountain lion, bear, raven

(https://i.ibb.co/5Lsb7VP/IMG-20200702-164920.jpg) (https://ibb.co/5Lsb7VP)

(https://i.ibb.co/Cw3P3tB/IMG-20201030-181623.jpg) (https://ibb.co/Cw3P3tB)

(https://i.ibb.co/9sMnPh6/IMG-20201101-124322.jpg) (https://ibb.co/9sMnPh6)

(https://i.ibb.co/DtNS53L/IMG-20201124-164837.jpg) (https://ibb.co/DtNS53L)

(https://i.ibb.co/Dk8VZnY/IMG-20201111-165646.jpg) (https://ibb.co/Dk8VZnY)

(https://i.ibb.co/P9DT7VB/IMG-20201111-165701.jpg) (https://ibb.co/P9DT7VB)

then, due to some static with the landlord, termites, and a need for more space, we moved into town and got way, way more for only $100 more per month. I'm very happy to live in this house

Those are some dope places, IusedToSkateMore
The forest looks sick, city’s alright but I miss the quiet sometimes

I took the dog exploring just now

Oh hell ya, brother. I got the hookup on all these spots through friends. That first spot burned in the fires last year, but it was wicked sick. 45 acres between 42-5000ft elevation, situated between two forests. Real special spot. The forest picture was right behind my old house, kind of in a stream bed. Snow was pretty rare there, so that was a cool day.

You got a bunch of abandoned buildings near you? Where I grew up were endless amounts of abandoned factories/mills. We used to skate in one of them. Shit was always tight but last time I visited home only one was left but there was some nice throw ups in it

my coffee gear:

that grinder sucks though. i was on a budget after my last one broke. gotta get an upgrade asap. it's super loud and produces way to many fines and i'm not gonna start to sift my grounds. that's too much even for me.

i used to drink liters of coffee a day, now i'm down to 2-3 cups a day and feel way more chill.

EDIT: the water boiler sucks, too, too much plastic, but it still works, so i use it. the green thing sticking in from the right is a brita water filter thingy.

I didn't read the first post and was the whole time thinking "why would you go through all that trouble just to grind some weed?". On another though, have you grinded weed on it yet?

man, coffee grinders are actually hard to clean. i guess grinding weed in it would waste a lot of weed and of course every coffee would give you a microdose.

a buddy had one of those cheap spice grinder thingies that cost like ten bucks, that worked really good for weed.

I feel like there were heaps more round 2000s, IusedToSkateMore but there’s still a few. Heaps are a bust though. There’s this great big drain goes under part of Brisbane that you can still get into I haven’t been for years but I’ll go soon and post pics

I moved to this suburb called west end it’s pretty chill and way cheaper. I’m not right on the river but it’s at the end of the street
There’s a bottle shop up the street from me and they got six packs of red stripes for 9.99
That’s heaps cheap for here. The photo looks pretty rank but it tastes ok it was just a baguette with salami and Camembert and I toasted it a little bit

I thought west end got really expensive?

I lived and worked there way back in the early 2000's just as it started to get a bit "nicer"... was definitely my favorite place to live in Brisbane when i was in my early 20's...  cheap and close to the city & had heaps of good junky take way joints
And the boundary hotel was always interesting

Ahh it did get a bit more expensive, but it’s still heaps less than I was paying for at last place in middle of valley

West end has changed heaps, there’s all apartments and shit now just full of trendycunts but I am in this old Queenslander in between a couple of unit blocks

Honestly I feel mad old living here but I need to save some money for a couple months
There’s a possum family lives downstairs I gave them some watermelon yesterday arvo and as soon as home from work one came to the window to hit me up for more so I’m gonna have to go buy more fruit
I’m gonna hand feed these cunts soon

There’s not as many of those dope takeaways here anymore. I’m closer to the Monty but the boundary is better for sure

Bro just on those fantastic seedy takeaway joints do you remember Dirty Harrys up at Caxton? Man he’s gone, it’s an Indian joint now

You got any other mad places to eat? Lunchtime is the highlight of my day so I’m always on the lookout for a good feed. Best one I know is the wonder sandwich bar in Spring Hill. Deadset the best roast pork sangas in seq and a decent hot box selection.
Coopers snack box is a newer place but legit as, English style roast meats and Yorkshire puddings and shit

Remember when rics did those all day breakfasts and the plate was the size of a fucking manhole?
They don’t do that anymore

Fuck man I gotta go eat something nice now

shit I just google mapped westend... I barely recognize anything... they got rid of the lizard near the boundary.. that is were all the crazy happened.

My favourite takeaway was the Indian kitchen.. it was five minutes walk from were i used to live.
The vietnamese bakery right near there was better in the 90's from memory

I am pretty sure I have been to Dirty Harrys but don't remember

Rics is all a blur... i have never eaten there... but I have puked and passed out there many a time (i was a shitty drinker so I quit)

Nah the goanna is defz still there bro
Yeah haha heaps of freaks congregate there. I was working on bris one towers a couple years ago and there was one bum that would chill down there in high viz and boots. Defz a bum though. We were gonna take him up the tower for a laugh, show him around etc but it never happened

I’ll check out that Indian joint tonight or tomorrow night. Yeah heaps of the Vietnamese bakery’s are not as good as they used to be. There was a good one in Blackwood st in mitchie but they have also gone to shit

My theory is someone’s grandparents got taught by some Frenchman in Indochina then we got their kids making bread here and it was probably half as good as it was originally but nobody here noticed but now it’s their kids kids and it’s all gone to shit
Or something

I haven’t been able to live there myself for a bit cause I couldn’t afford to but at my actual house I got possum boxes in the trees no shit get koalas coming through all the time too and I hadn’t really thought about my possums for a while but this new possum family where I’m renting goes hard, the dad possums a fucken hustler, if you don’t shut the back door the cunts get in the kitchen and eat food that’s out, can’t have a fruit bowl on the bench or anything they taste everything but they all got their own preferences

My other possums never came in my house hey, fuck it, this one just a rental haha
Damn son I hope the cunt rents off me hasn’t got my shitty attitude lmao

I didn’t feed him the sausage roll he took it off the table but yeah I am gonna try put all unhealthy shit away and put a clamp on the bins these little cunts have gotten fatter in two weeks I gotta help em properly can’t have them eating weird shit it can’t be good for them hey

I’m gonna build em a couple nest boxes on the weekend cause they’re just sleeping in the laundry I mean it’s all open downstairs so I can just get a leaf blower on their turds but still

My Rosie has kind of accepted them which is hilarious
I think she thinks they’re just cats
It’s mad but, no geckos here poss must eat them all

Yeah bro those opposums you got are pretty skitz looking
They remind me of Gary busey for some reason
Raccoons are cute though

Here’s some more so this is the baby from earlier he does his own thing now and kicks it with me and Rosie in the evenings
I called him Stan Smith cause he looks like he’s got a bum chin
He’s pretty clumsy

https://gofile.io/d/ff9viw

This place is getting bulldozed for more units in a couple months
Pretty bummed that Stan Smith won’t be raising his own family here

Here’s some photos of him and his parents
