Title: Skaters wearing glasses for video parts?
Post by: The Silver Arrow on October 25, 2020, 06:30:14 PM
Watching Tyler Bledsoe's part in Mind Field and seeing that he's a glasses wearing dude has got me wondering - aside from him, who else in skateboarding has worn glasses for a video part?

Pretty sure early Neen (pre-salmon days. Like Chicago days) wore spectacles. His skating was appealing back then.

Jessie Newhaus (I know I butchered that name). He skated for Fun skateboards in the early 90's.

Side note. I grew up wearing glasses (still do, contacts often though). I thought for a long time I could never be a good skateboarder because all of the pros didn't wear glasses. Whenever I'd see someone in a mag or video wearing glasses it made me so happy. It gave me hope. And guess what, I still suck.

I have the same issue. If its remotely sunny I need sunglasses or I can't even see for real. Bright blue eyes blow.

Likewise. Prescription sunglasses are a lifesaver, best decision I ever made.

I haven't seen an interview from him without shades even when he's inside.

Neuhaus. You didn't butcher it, you just subbed the W for the U
All you did was add an extra U if you think about it

Isn't there a Japanese skater who wears glasses? I think I saw him in a recent edit.

You thinking of Shinpei Ueno (Evisen pro)? Dude always has shades or some type of Bono joints on. No hate, love the whole Evisen team.

Muska said that he had terrible vision but skating with glasses made him scared because everything was clear.

I use contacts as well.

What you mean by "for a video part"? So he wore the glasses only for that part and then got rid of it? To promote his bad vision or get extra points for being handicapped?

I've started skateboarding without glasses and ended up having to wear them around 3/4 years ago. It's a huge change of prospective actually seeing what's going on clearly and being able to asset distances. It has surely slowed down my skating, plus there's the fear factor of smacking them + your face/eyes. (in case you're wondering, no I cannot wear contacts)

My eyes are really bad and I can't imagine skating without clear vision.

I can picture Muska tailsliding a big hubba then asking how many stairs that was.
