I’m from Long Island/Far Rockaway and the staple has always been egg sandwiches, my personal go-to is a hungry man with swiss, scrambled eggs with hash browns on a kaiser roll and hot sauce. I’m trying to expand my horizons and am super curious to know what you guys indulge in. My pops got me into turkey, ham and swiss, tomato, bacon and spinach with mayo in a wrap. Hook me up with some more ideas to spice up my morning commute.

Eggs Benedict is the supreme breakfast but if you're thinkin handheld, on-the-go food, try messing around with bagel, cream cheese, and lox/smoked salmon sandwiches. You can add eggs (soft scrambled or over hard, I prefer the latter especially for ease of eating on the commute), pickled or fresh red onion, capers if ya wanna go the extra mile.
Can't afford/wouldn't want to eat smoked salmon everyday, but I keep some handy so I can have a fancy breakfast once or twice a week.

I agree with the above posters that Eggs Benedict are the king among breakfast foods. I do it on special occasions and make my own hollandaise sauce. Try smoked salmon instead of ham. It is then called "Eggs Royale", truly food for kings (and queens) ;D
Also during the lockdown my wive started baking her own bread and she got really good at it so when I am in the home office I usually have homemade bread of some variety, along with butter, marmalade (homemade by the parents in law), cheese and sometimes a boiled egg, half a grapefruit or some corn flakes. When I go to the "real" office, I eat nothing because I am always late. ::)
I also learned to enjoy a fry up during holiday trips to Scotland. A full Scottish breakfast is nice and keeps you going until tea time at least (and btw I am not talking about the full Scottish breakfast variant consisting of two paracetamol and an Irn Bru) ;D

Biscuits and gravy along with hashbrowns are my jam along with grits and cheese and some wheat buttered toast sooooo good.

If I need something fast, Avocado Toast with red pepper flakes, lil salt, lil pep, and sriracha. Sometimes I make it into a mash with a little bit of Olive Oil. Wheat or Oat bread always. It's a million times better if you get fresh bread but that Arnold wheat bread will do in a pinch.

You guys are killing it, got some great ideas so far. Had an egg everything bagel with scallion cream cheese and bacon today on my drive to work, amazing combo. Also partial to lox and cream cheese so shoutout to whoever mentioned that but I’m not a huge fish guy. Keep it coming boys

Lately: Nothing. I think waiting for my knee to heal/little exercise combined with depression has made me eat less and it seems like breakfast has been the meal my body doesn't care for.
Usually: Eggs in some form. Scrambled, breakfast tacos, etc. Usually with hot sauce and some form of veggies and sometimes bacon. Quick and easy as mentioned a few times in this thread. Shout out lox w/ a bagel and scallion cream cheese too, if I'm really going for it.
For efficiency: Overnight oats. in 2019 I was teaching a photography class that started at 8:45am and I had around an hour commute give, so I was looking to make my morning routine more efficient. I'm sure the texture might deter people but overnight oats were this weird combination of delicious and filling without feeling guilty/too full. Looked up a recipe online, nothing fancy.

Daily- 1 pt milk substitute, 3pt h2o, 2 frozen banana, pnut butter powder, vegan protein, lately 3gram each mycelium powder (cordyceps, lions mane, reishi). Pretty legit and tasty
If its a dank brrkfast at home, 3 eggs scrambled w a splash of milk for the fluff, pepper sauce and a bagel toasted and topped with coconut oil, Bragg's Amino's, nutritional yeast, and black garlic miso mayo. Maybe some leftover beans
-
Usually it's cereal with flax flakes, added granola, raisins, banana and oat milk. Yogurt or oatmeal with a variation of the above and added peanut butter are also contenders. If I exercise before work, I'll usually eat a muffin with peanut butter on it once I get there cause 2nd breakfast beats dinner IMO. Maybe you're feeling decadent, but an old guilty pleasure used to be making a breakfast sandwich on a grilled Portuguese sweet muffin or roll with egg and pepper jack cheese. Go wild.

Sure, if I was eating metal face home fries..

I need a hot breakfast. Doesn’t have to be a huge meal but gotta be hot. A good pork roll and egg on a bagel is a big go-to.
My mom is Japanese and so a bowl of rice hits the spot in a major way. I could happily eat pho or any number of other noodle soups daily for breakfast.

Corned beef hash is the best, especially from a real breakfast diner. But I’m not too proud to eat the hormel canned stuff that looks like dog food either.
I make a mean breakfast burrito too w/ sausage, scrambled eggs, diced potatoes tossed in oil and baked, peppers, cheese, wrapped in a large tortilla and baked till crispy.
-
Mainly oatmeal, usually with seasonal fruit, but always with cinnamon and hemp seeds (and yeah, usually some chia in there). Don’t tend to use fruit as much in the winter so maybe some baked sweet potatoes or homemade amazake (sweet fermented rice drink/ yoghurt).
Occasionally we’ll have toast if we’ve baked some bread, usually with avocado and/ or vegemite, nothing too tech!
Used to do big English (vegan) breakfasts when I was traveling for work because I could buy baked beans etc. overseas but unfortunately not traveling much these days and baked beans in Japan are as hard to find as falafel...
-
huevos rancheros, Spanish tortillas, egg benedict, classic french omelet with chives. savory french toast with mushroom bechamel. Croque madame!
-
marks homemade egg benedict
slice of potato end bread
egg salad
ketchup
bologna slice

Fried eggs over easy with some thick cut bacon and black coffee. Im a simple man, I like simple things. Also not opposed to a glass of cranberry or orange juice.
-
I fuck with vector pretty hard too....that's a whole other thread tho...
-
Green Smoothie: chocolate whey protein powder, 1/2 an avocado, handfuls of chopped kale, almond butter, greek yogurt, spirulina, stevia, flax milk. Blend that shit in a Nutri Ninja(loud as fuck). This is how I learned bs ts

My local bagel spot sells a scrambagel, which is toasted bagel sandwich with scrambled eggs, green onion, butter, and cheese. When I buy it there, I typically add sprouts. I've also been making this sandwich at home and I'll add more veggies like kale or onions to make it even more hearty and douse it in hot sauce. Definitely one of my favorite breakfast items ever.
Another go to breakfast combo that I make at home a lot are sunny side up eggs with hash browns and toast with butter and jam. Super quick and easy while being very filling. My partner makes oatmeal a lot and will spruce it up with some mixture of peanut butter, cinnamon, granola, and fruit. We've been using a lot of date syrup lately and it also goes really well in oatmeal.
One of my favorite breakfast combos of all time, and one that I can't get where I live now, is youtiao (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youtiao). It's essentially long strips of fried dough that can be sweet or lightly salted. It's a very traditional Chinese breakfast food and you can buy them from food carts all over Beijing. They're typically served with fresh soymilk, and boy is that an amazing combo.

fuck breakfast but if i eat it its usually oatmeal with almond butter, banana, chia seeds etc.
im not even hungry till like noon

I shifted my eating window to start later in the day (trying to incorporate intermittent fasting to some extent to improve metabolism and lose weight)
But cereal was my go to for ages and then i started to cut almost all dairy out of my diet, so now:
- Eggs and Spinach and Black Pepper with Ketchup or Hot Sauce. Sometimes on an English muffin, sometimes without
- Fruit Medley: Strawberry, Blueberry, and an Apple (with or without peanut butter)
- Cinnamon toast and a banana (eat the banana while I'm making the toast)
-
Can't believe how much shit people eat in the morning. Heavy ass foods too. Cheese in the morning can't be good for you.
-
I like to kickstart my day with a delicious Hungry Man frozen breakfast.

i cant eat in the morning or else i'll throw up
usually i'll have like a smoothie or some rice at like 11:30-noonish.

I was recently turned on to what I was told is a pretty traditional southeastern Asian breakfast, and I've been loving it because it's quick and easy and really delicious. 2 fried eggs, put some Maggi seasoning on them along with some chili oil (I am addicted to the Lao Gan Ma brand chili crisp), and a baguette or slice of bread to mop up the yolks etc. Takes like 5 minutes to make and has become a weekday staple.

It’s a terrible habit but so fuckin hard to break man. Usually after my hungry man I don’t have to eat again until like 2pm and it always ends up being something super light like a bagel or salad, maybe an acai bowl. I’m also addicted to Halal food lately, kofta, chicken, lamb and rice combo with salad and massive amounts of white sauce got me slumped on my couch after 5 minutes.
-
I keep it simple - black coffee, banana, 1 cup Special K w/ shredded almonds accompanied by 1 cup milk. Might substitute either the banana or the cereal with a peanut butter and honey sandwich on whole wheat.
-
green smoothie or green juice, acai bowls, avo toast, tofu scramble with vegan bacon/vegan sausage (beyond meat) makes the best faux sausages ever

Can't help it if I wake up starving! I eat breakfast at 7am every day, often a homemade bagel egg and cheese, a piece of fruit, and a yogurt. I'm like 155lbs soaking wet. I know this metabolism isn't gonna last forever, but if I'm being honest... 7am and maybe 2 or 3pm are the only times I regularly feel hunger pangs. Dinner is just like a cultural thing for me.

lao gan man is the shit! it means old step mom in mandarin lol.
my tastebuds make everything taste like shit in the morning - i sip water while i cook 2 eggs that are a little juicy in the middle, load it up with siracha and eat with half a bagel

This absolutely sounds like my ideal breakfast (and I've spotted a few cool other ones in other posts too), but in the morning I often feel like fasting and I usually function too slowly to cook (although that's something I really like to do). So my breakfast reality really sounds more like two French presses of black coffee on an empty stomach and three or four joints before going skating, probably not ideal at all. When I come back is usually when I start feeling hungry and that's when I'll fix myself some shit.
