If you had a shit day at work and you get to the park and it’s crowded just finish your beer and turn up communication breakdown by led zeppelin and just go as fast as you can, they will all step the fuck of

Noa James and other positive rap...

Really depends on the mood, and whether or not i'm tryna get in my bag. I usually go between classic metal/hard rock and house music. Indie electronic music also tickles me.
-
dont really skate to anything but if i have a speaker i'll play some moodymann or somethin
-
I like to listen to fast paced music doesn't matter the genre really. Try listening to Run the Jewels next time you're skating you will feel invincible!

Pretty much anything with a steady, driving beat'll do. These have been on heavy rotation lately:

No music, I like the sound of screeching wheels and grinds

I never skate with headphones in, I love the sound of skating and bullshitting with people I meet at the park or at a spot. Butt if I’m with the homies and we’re having a laid back sesh I’ll play some maxo kream, ugk, or geto boys (we’re obviously in Texas) but if I’m trying to get a trick and I could get broke of, I’ll put on some Boston strangler or the rival mob.

EDIT:there was a fried anime sequence here instead of this perfect song from lonnie liston smith
^if you are a happy go luck, skate by yourself down the street, find funky spots as you push type person, nothing is better than listening to this track on a summer day and meeting up with some homies after you're solo sesh.

if you aren't a happy go lucky solo skater but you actually only have hate and vitriol in your heart, push full speed down you're favorite hill and listen to this.

These are the songs that make me feel like its ok, and that i can just have fun on my skateboard before i have to get back to the real world, the songs that remind me of skateboarding. I also listen to a ton of Crosy Stills Nash and Young, MoodyMann, Grateful Dead, MF DOOM, Gucci, just like, any and all music i love.

Depends on how i feel. I used to listen to the Ducktales theme song a bunch while skating. If in feeling aggro, I'll put on some punk or metal, ie. Iron Reagan, IDLES, Midnight, Motorhead, Truckfighters, Dead Kennedys, MDC, Power Trip. But if I'm in a more mellow mood, I'll listen to indie rock and shit like arcade fire, white lies, unknown mortal orchestra, delta spirit, dr dog, doves, the radio dept

Classical music, DMX, Reggae before the session

Motorhead, Truckfighters
definitely these. dinosaur jr has been a go to for years for obvious reasons. black sabbath is a staple too. i only skate with headphones in when im skating to/from the spot or to work or something, too distracting for me to skate well with them in. speaker at the spot is a whole different story, hard to beat motorhead for amping up a good sesh
-
i never skate with headphones in, it throws me off. and usually dont blast music out loud.
but you cant go wrong with some Judas Priest.
tho my preference are Despise You and Harm Done. feel like agressive music pushes me more. but not everyone at the park agrees, so Judas Priest it is.

My 200th post….this seems like the perfect thread, because I just listened to something totally different for my session yesterday.
When I started skating a couple years ago I got a list of all the songs in THPS 1&2 and made a playlist, then added a handful of my own rock favorites and been skating to that.
But I’m really getting tired of it so yesterday I skated to Meghan Trainor songs (All about the Bass, Dear Future Husband, Your Lips are Moving) and then finished the session with MC Solaar “Relations Humaines”. A friend from Hungary gave me an MC Solaar CD….I should dig it up it was great to skate to. So was the Meghan Trainor, upbeat and happy, my session had a nice, bright feel to it in spite of being sloppy and hard to get a line.
In closing, I hope you have enjoyed my 200th SLAP post.
