I lived by Yonge and Steeles for about a year. Sanction was really close by and York (alma mater), but not a lot of skate spots and not much to do. Closest park at that time was Cummer haha. The York campus had a few spots, though. Pretty sure it's undergone a fair amount of reconstruction so it's probably even more skateable.
Didn't spend lots of time in Burlington, Mississauga, Oakville, etc. but they seemed like nice places. Mississauga in particular seemed really good for skating; I worked as a TV/movie extra for a bit and saw some nice spots whenever we'd have a shoot in 'Sauga.
I think the insta account @wintercrimes is documenting spots in Toronto and in the GTA as well.
Edit: Also, I've seen pics of a really nice park somewhere in the GTA, it's fairly new, can't remember where exactly....

Only been to TO once. Def a little overwhelming as an east coaster. Basically just hung around Kensington. Got some bomb ass tacos at Seven Lives. Went to a bunch of thrift stores but didn’t buy anything. Went to a Chinese restaurant at like 11pm and the place was lit up bright as hell and was full of families with young kids, that was weird. Then went to a bar called Ronnie’s or something that was supposedly the cool spot, but it had no windows or air flow and smelled like my grandma’s basement. Pretty sure I had heat stroke at that point and nearly puked. Next day my gf and I were sitting outside the Eaton centre and some guy threatened to shoot me in my fucking face because he knows I have money but wouldn’t give him any.

This is a very accurate account of what the city is like. I like Ronnie’s for its simplicity, and Chinatown is great for late night eats. Eaton center tends to attract a wide range of characters, but likely due to the proximity to social outreach centers and drugs. It’s a good place to people watch that’s for sure.
