Title: Opteka/Kapkur .3 fisheye lenses back in stock/mega list (UPDATED)
Post by: suckmadeck on August 05, 2021, 06:56:04 AM
For the last couple of months people have been asking when Kapkur/Opteka fisheyes would be back in stock, unfortunately due to some language barriers I couldn't give a proper answer, only "they say they will be making more". That's all they would tell me over email anyway. Well I just checked on their Aliexpress store today and they have some in stock! 52mm + 58mm + 72mm (all the important ones) and 62mm + 67mm. Since Kapkur manufacture lenses for different companies such as Opteka e.t.c these lenses will pop up under different names and in different locations. So to make life a bit easier, I'm gonna leave as many directions to these lenses so people won't have to faff around looking for them.

[52mm (for VX1000's e.t.c)

58mm (for VX2000's e.t.c)

62mm (for Canon HD cameras e.t.c)

67mm (not sure what these fit but they sell em!)
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000764388945.html?spm=a2g0o.store_pc_home.productList_15033738.subject_4 (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000764388945.html?spm=a2g0o.store_pc_home.productList_15033738.subject_4)

72mm (for Panasonic DVX's, HPX/HMC's and the HVX's with a 82mm to 72mm step down ring)
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000764016072.html?spm=a2g0o.store_pc_home.productList_15033738.subject_2 (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000764016072.html?spm=a2g0o.store_pc_home.productList_15033738.subject_2)

They even sell a 72mm spacer ring if ya need it

[EDIT]

Just found a 37mm and a 43mm .3 fisheye as well for ya'll using smaller cameras

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002940422877.html (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002940422877.html) not sure about the company e.t.c so proceed with caution

[EDIT2]

Found out another store are selling the Kapkur lenses (52mm up) with a different label on them, also got some good reviews so leaving that link here also

[EDIT3]

Most of the links above are dead. But Kapkur are still selling the lens (and it's mk2 of a mk2, explained here: https://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=118832.0 (https://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=118832.0) ) under the Vlogmagic branding. Here is the link to the listing.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002788613938.html (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002788613938.html) Seem they have most sizes in stock which is nice! And in one place instead of spread out over multiple links.

Thanks for this.

Dumb question, but I'm going to ask it anyway. A 52mm vs 72mm Opteka fisheye - are they exactly the same size lens with the only difference obviously being the screw size?

Depends on the seller. I've had good experiences with em and so have other people, the usual complaint is that shit can take a while to ship

question, what is a c-mount lens' thread size? im having issues trying to figure this out.
if i could fit the 37mm mount to a c-mount or other threaded adapter i could run it on a gh4 by the looks of it. but the only info i can find is c mount might be 39mm? any info is great. Thanks

Yeah, 0.4x looks a bit strange. I think 0.3x is perfect.

More dumb questions from me. Are any of these fisheye lenses good? And which size would be the best for a cheap camcorder? I am thinking about getting the 58mm one but it is hard for me to decide. I currently have a 37mm fisheye, so I would expect a difference with a 58mm one. 72mm sounds a bit too crazy for my taste. I like the fisheye optic from the VX2000.

Honestly these lens are pretty much on par with normal Opteka ones, same glass and what not anyways.

I've not got one myself, but a friend has a VX2000 with one and the footage looks good with it.

How bad would the vig be on the fish if I used a 52mm on a camera thats filter size is 72mm? any ideas? Easy for me to get my hands on a 52mm but not a larger size.
