Wait so are you saying that globe is the backer of Bryan Herman’s new shoe company?

I thought the the same and that the op's post was missing context/content. But I think they're just pointing out Herman's Hours parallel Globes marketing. Which I definitely agree with. Globe already has this upscale skater owned skate shoe market tapped and by all accounts from this lookbook Hours is looking like a try hard knockoff of this. Not saying that's what Herman's intent is but it's hard not to compare/ignore, especially when this has been Globes schtick for some time now.

With all this talk of globe, I have to ask - do shops near you guys (if you have a local shop) carry globe?
I feel like the last time I remember seeing/noticing a globe shoe in person was like the Chet Thomas shoes. I mean maybe people at Tampa pro have been wearing them but heck if I could tell with all the shoes out now.

If you guys say they're solid that's cool, I just never see them.

I feel like I’ve seen Globes in shops here and there throughout the years (more so in the very early 2000’s timeframe when Globe was in the DC/Circa/DVS/Es camp of puffy shoes for techy skaters) but I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen someone skating Globes in real life.  None of the local shops around me carry Globes.  Does Pacsun have Globes? Is Pacsun still a store? I remember holding a Chet Thomas IV rerelease in a store sometime in the past few years.

That’s gotta be one of the worst looking shoes/colorways I’ve ever seen.

I have no idea what this has to do with Globe, but this Horus shoe company (actually a way better name, and as an added bonus Horus is the son of Osiris) is completely fucking pointless. No one needs or wants any of these designs.

Start me a skate shoe brand that looks like 90s Avia aerobic shoes and then we'll talk.

I only see globe sold in big ass sport stores here in northern europe, few years ago I went out of curiosity and got appleyards pro model for 15€. Basic vulc, quality seemed on par with other vulcs I have as chillers. No clue how they would hold up skating as I don’t skate in vulcs.

They did, and Ellington is still doing it, I’m guessing this is germ trying to make skate shoes that are in the same wavelength as Ellington’s company, which I’m all for those loafers that Ellington makes are like 400 bucks, these a reasonable 65-70 I’m widdit, and I’ll support herm

Actually pretty genuinely interested in this company, herm is sick and the shoes look like they would skate pretty good, the loafer model I keep seeing looks good, and there is a court inspired silhouette with a dipped toe (Ellington vibes) that looks like it would skate alright, couple other slip on models that looks similar to the Supra Cuban which I thought was Supra’s best shoe personally

Why hating on skater owned??? Surely there should be some applauding given the state that corp companies are leaving some skateboarders in currently no?? it’s a breath of fresh air also that there’s some new independent footwear brands are popping up driven by professionals that have been in the game some time.. Last Resort being another example. Kinda marmite for most, but it’s great something is happening and skateboarders are trying to retake some stakes back in the footwear industry.

Why the loafers all the time?
Apparently loafers are what skateboarders imagine rich people wear all day/every day.
Think of it as an aspirational design.

In this case I think it's Dylan's influence still five years on. Also I'm sure Herman is still at least invested in HRS and this seems to be a more affordable, skate oriented sister company (hence the name similarly and fact this loafer looks like a more skate friendly version of HRS Del Rey)

Yea I really wanted the mule version of the del ray that Ellington’s company made, but 395 for that hoe, I know it’s handmade in Italy or whatever the fuck, but I can’t afford to spend a quarter months rent on literally half a shoe cause I thought they were cool, but who knows maybe I’ll win the lottery one day I can get some to fulfill my “the Lebowski” fit. That I wear to the grocery store and walking my dog

So, Ellington and Herman wanted to start a shoe company that makes loafers called Hours, but E wanted them to be $400 and H wanted them to be $60 so they had to start two completely separate companies? And E has a pro shoe with Li Ning at the same time, which is pretty much half way in between those price points. He should have just had Li Ning make a loafer too, and called the "ours" to really make it all as confusing as possible.

I think it was the other way around, I'm pretty sure it started with HRS and then Herman left and did Hours

Regardless of price, the Li Ning shoes are skate shoes and the HRS are not, they're lifestyle shoes and boots. Also, I'm sure Ellington would rather own his own company rather and be sponsored by another rather than just be sponsored by one company. Li-Ning does sportswear shit, I don't see them giving him a boutique shoe line.

Penny loafers are for rooks & plebes; you wanna get with the hustle, stuff your loafers with 1 oz gold Krugerrand.

I think their dope and stoked to check them out in person.

The Cuba was one of Supra’s first shoes and they made that shoe until they folded. It’s seemed to have proven to be a well received shoe. Surprised no one else has made a silhouette like it. Especially Vans.

HUF had one like it when they first started doing shoes, but I don’t think it was around long

Surely these shoes won't last a bit, they look so thin. Either way they're probably gonna sell enough because they're not hideous and it's Bryan Herman selling them.
