If I could have named myself, I would have chosen the name "Boner McGee". I just think it flows.
Runner-up: Johnsonville Brats

Would Boner McGee be a tribute to Willie McGee? I loved when the Cards and Mets played. Ozzie Smith with the backflip to start the season. Their Robbins egg blue uniforms. I think I’d like to named Mookie. How can you not love a guy named Mookie?

No shit when I was a kid I was obsessed with mcguyver I had a mcguyver suit and I called my horse mcguyver my dog mcguyver and my cat mcguyver all at the same time
So it would have been mcguyver by a landslide but I like being called Matt, really

How about Matt Gyver, ever thought of that one or were always you too busy of a fan studying how to consistently misspell McGyver?

Mookie was the man! Love that era of MLB! And yes, it is to Willie McGee. I found an old 1988 stickerbook photo of him and put it on my egg board last year lol. I've got starting lineup figures of that guy. Also, when I was a kid, I played left field and batted right handed. When I found out that Willie was a switch hitting center fielder, I taught myself to hit left handed (to bat switch) and became the center fielder for 5 years. Not gonna lie, when he left the field for the last time, I had a tear! I have one of those blue jerseys too.
I stared at these cards a lot:

Side story: My dad took me to a lot of games as a kid, and Willie was my dude. I developed my own nickname for Willie - "the cat". Anyways, when they were saying the starting lineup, they said "Willie McGeeeeee" and I go "yes, the cat!" and my dad was all "the cat?" and I say "yeah he looks like a cat with that little mustache". And my dad laughed. But that was little me.
Obviously Mookie's greatest moment:

That time in baseball was special because it was during little league years and baseball card stores were also popping up everywhere. I was a pitcher in HS until I quit to skateboard full time but I love baseball and having a catch with your son is the best way to connect with him.
I didn’t realize that the Cards lost in 85’ and 87’. The series with the Royals must have been wild. George Brett is rad. I remember watching the ‘pine tar’ game live with my dad. The old man couldn’t believe they took his home run away.
I also get emotional over baseball. I can’t watch Ken Burns documentary or look at old highlights w/o getting chills. Like watching Hokus Pokus.
1980s baseball was like pro wrestling. Here’s a little snippet for those who weren’t watching at the time:

85 series was rough for me. I was SOOO into baseball at the time, I was crushed. 87 I was less crushed (due to skating probably lol). George Brett was a king! Huge fan. I love the history of baseball especially and any stuff from my childhood makes me want to cry when I watch it now? I guess its missing the innocence of that time. I just went to the Hall of Fame a month ago (2nd time). This time my son was into it (He was 4 last time and didn't get it). He's 7 and in his second year of legit baseball. I TRY not to get too hopeful about it, but he's a beast at hitting and throwing. I coach 1st base and outfield on the team (this is also the field I grew up playing at, so also cool). 3 times this season - he hit a ball so hard that the opposing players (6 and 7 year olds) just dived out of the way. Other teams coach even said to me "holy shit". He used to tap infield singles but the advice I gave him was "when that ball comes - hit it like you want to destroy it". And he started crushing.
I still have my baseball card collection from 1980-1992. I randomly buy a card of guys I like here and there, but buying the packs was soooo awesome. My b-day - I would get a BOX of packs. Was awesome. My prized cards as a kid were my Don Mattingly rookie cards.
Also, playing catch with my son is easily the best thing I've got going on besides skating.

There are two other dudes with my exact name in my class, I don’t need to describe how stupid it is sometimes. Wish I was named something like Kane or Sebastian, sound nice

I've wondered things like this. Certain names are a vibe. Jeff and Steve usually weird me out a bit. Jeff is like a "plant manager" type of vibe to me. Steve is like "civil engineer" vibe. Every Mike I know is pretty cool. 2 of my first skater friends were both Mike and both turned out pretty successful, yet still fun to hang with too.
Also have thought about this with Andrew Reynolds - had he gone by "Andy" instead. Andy Reynolds.
-
Ever since watching Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, I’ve always thought Cameron was a cool name. It screams privileged white boy, but it has a nice ring to it. Wouldn’t work at all with my last name though.

I've been told my name sounds like an active shooter, but I don't care, I like it a lot. Austin Allen Arnold. Fuck the haters.

Damn. That's a cool name. Sounds like an author name to me.

I don’t mind Louis as a name even if it’s a hand me down from my father, and his before him. And I suppose Struxworth seems acceptable enough, if not exceedingly Anglo, but if I could have named myself, maybe I’d have liked something rugged, bold, adventurous, and perhaps even dashing. Something like… Steed Treadwell.
Or if I had aspirations of high society & country clubs, I might have chosen Batch Harrington.
Or if I wanted to be a QVC host, maybe Pryce Costington would have been apt.
But if I set my life goals a little more modestly, say, maybe I just wanted to be a valet, then perhaps I could be happy with Carl Parker.
So many possibilities, each with a possible name.
As it is, I’ve had my name for so long, I’m not sure I’d care to change it now; I’m content just being Louis Struxworth III, but YOU, my friends, you can just call me Lou.
Lou Strux, your SLAP homey.

I went through the process of changing my name not that long ago, and the worst part about it was trying to finalise / decide. I was wavering like fuck on having an alliterative name but just thought fuck it at the last minute.
I’m Madison Juliet M, nice to meet you all.
