As a 6'4 person I want to say Tx does miracles on his tiny board, I wonder how his style would change if he rode 8.5+.

Biased because Im 6ft 4 but a tall guy with style will always out a skinny manlet, in my opinion. Idk something about it actually looking like a grown man, with an explosion of power rather than a delicate glide through the air.

American pro skaters skew very short, so yes, over 6' is tall to us.

It's easy to accidentally lie if you have to convert from metric. I'm a little bit under 6'6 now but used to be a touch over. If you convert from CMS it says I'm 6.5 (.5 foot=6 inches not 5) so it could get a little confusing if someone wasn't used to converting

I thought I was 6 foot 1 for a decade cuz my Dad was 6 feet and Im taller, but then I was measured by a Dexa scan at 6 foot 3 and my Dad was a liar and is 5 foot 11.

Im 63 and I hate my local for not having shoes in my size 13 1/2.
8.00 feels like a toothpick 8.5 is just right but if I like a tech deck 8.25 is my sweet spot.

I don't think any companies even make skate shoes in a 13.5. Nike vans DC make their 13s 31cms but other brands make them as 32.5 and 33.5cms so I guess you could try find the bigger make ones.

Fuk soz I feel like this is what happens with every post(at least a couple times my fault probably) so I won't do it again but I don't think Ed is 6'3. I met him when I was a teenager and was already way taller than him. Mike v however is definatly barely average height with shoes on but has a heavy case of short man syndrome

This thread is pretty funny, honestly. If the Tempster is that tall it really explains why he was my first favorite skater; dude has that tall guy lurch that can be so graceful when the skater knows the type of skating that suits them and leans into it. Jake Johnson is the most obvious recent example of that.

Seeing Andrew Reynolds at an Emerica demo a while back gave me hope as he was around the same height as me (~6'2") if not taller, i was struggling with falling super hard and having better style as I was a year or two into skating at the time and Reynolds gave me a ton of inspiration ever since as a tall guy.
Also i love watching Nik Stain, he seems to be another top heavy homie with great style

Has anyone mentioned Leandre Sanders? He has to be a least 6' 2"
I think hes shorter than six foot. Skinny dudes always look taller on video. Heath Kirchard, Provost and Jaws were all fairly short, well bellow 6 foot, when I saw them in person. 6+ skaters I like are sheffey, Figgy and John Fitzgerald. For transition: Jimmy Wilkins and Sam Becket.

It is super difficult to tell height on video. Most pro skaters are super short, though, so someone like Heath might pass for a taller person and be added to a list of taller skaters. I saw him when he was in town as the team manager of the Emerica team and apart from figgy, who is definitely a tall guy, everyone was much shorter than expected. I mean I knew Spanky was a short guy, obviously, but Provost and Jon Dixon were pretty short as well.
-
At 6'2, i would never consider myself as "tall". I feel like anything taller than 6'2/6'3 and you're getting into weird tall territory
-
^ 6'2 is on the line and technically tall but 6'3 is where tall really starts. Weird tall is fair and Im gonna say there is zero advantage to being taller than 6'2 unless you happen to also be really good at playing basketball or volleyball and it's something you want to pursue as a career then you have a slight advantage over shorter people. For literally everything else it's a massive hassle
-

As a 6'2" man myself, I'm perfectly happy with my height. It's enough to be considered tall by most shorter people, but not so tall that it comes with major disadvantages in everyday life. It definitely has it's drawbacks on the board, but there's also one major perk: regular decks aren't long enough to credit card. I see that as an absolute win.
To me tall is like porn is to the Supreme Court: I know it when I see it. BA is my favorite tall skater. Arto is my all-time fave, but he's not tall. Just taller than most skaters, who in general tend to skew shorter.

skates what looks like a 6 quarter pipe @1:20
head is never above coping when standing up on board
only point of reference i had to go off of but im getting 59 vibes
I have stood next Beckett. I am 6 foot tall and he was quite a bit taller than me. I have also stood next to Heath and Provost and they are definitely below 6 foot. About 5 foot 10 I would say. They are both fairly lean and long, which makes them look taller.
Koston might be just about 6 foot tall. Anyone ever seen him in person?

At 6'2, i would never consider myself as "tall". I feel like anything taller than 6'2/6'3 and you're getting into weird tall territory
I recently read an article about people getting leg lengthening surgery and there were all sorts of quotes like everybody treats you different/life is so easy when youre 6 foot tall! I dont get that.
Im 61 but I dont particularly feel like a tall guy when Im out on the street - theres a rather sizable chunk of the population thats taller where I live. Except at the skatepark, where I think shorter is the norm.
Ive seen quite a few pros in person and only a handful have been taller than 6. Off the top of my head Id list: Reese Forbes, Kenny Hughes, Tony Hawk, Reynolds, Ellington, Steve Nesser, Darren Navarette, Josh Borden, and then Im drawing a blank.
Koston is probably under but not by much. Same with Omar Hassan.

He was at Skateweek in Frankfurt last summer with the flip team. The guy rips and is indeed very tall. I would guess hes 6 foot 7. By the way Luan, Penny and Cory Juneau: all well below 6 foot.

The four that spring to mind are BA, Reese Forbes, Rob Welsh and Andrew Brophy. I wouldn't say guys like Arto and Reynolds are really, strikingly tall, but I'm from the land of giants so my standard may be skewed.
I'm 6'5" myself, and I used to obsess over my height when I started skating, because length and style just didn't go together in my mind. Before I reached the stage of acceptance I tried very hard to mimick Janoski's lanky, lazy style, in an attempt to camouflage it all. This included his signature 'hunched back' posture, during roll-up and roll-away, but after the inevitable bout of excruciating back pain I simply had to admit defeat.
With regard to the pros and cons of being tall, I've always found it's pretty balanced out. Yes, women quite often have a thing for taller men, and it's great to have full vision when you're in a crowd, but you're never entirely comfortable when sitting down (whether it's a car, sofa, office chair), and air travel is just absolute torture.
