This album and dedication 2 made me a huge rap fan. I think I first heard them around 2007, and I knew a lot of the classic stuff (Pac, Big, Snoop, Dre, WuTang, things all suburban white kids grew up listening to), but wasn't keen on newer stuff. A friend of mine played me D2 and I was kinda blown away how Wayne jumped on everyone elses beats and killed it harder than they did. I went from being obsessed with The Mars Volta and wacky prog rock to downloading tapes off dat piff and mixtape torrent on the daily.

Kinda grew out of rap around 2011, but I'll always have a soft spot that era of Wayne. He was so good.

The Dedication Mixtapes and even the S4TW mixtapes always hit. His lyricism and delivery on a lot of other people's tracks really made me feel like he killed other people's songs. Like when skaters '1up' someone on a spot. Would love to see a Wayne track from one of these tapes set to some skating.
