Title: Belts
Post by: Fhk on November 18, 2021, 04:45:09 PM
What's out there for belts (not shoelace's) that are comfortable while skating?

I was going to say a shoelace, but a velcro belt is a good option. Not much of a looker but very functional - no rust and fully adjustable

I'm a big fan on this one:
https://www.686.com/products/the-clicker (https://www.686.com/products/the-clicker)

It stretches nicely, so it doesn't get in the way, plus the closure is really cool and easy to latch on and off. Magnets!

Patagonia Friction Belt is my go-to. I can't imagine using a notched leather belt for skating anymore, something with infinite adjustability is so much better for skating. Also the webbed style of belt is often a lot more stylish. Been eyeing this one at REI (https://www.rei.com/rei-garage/product/184570/arcade-belts-guide-slim-belt), since my current belt is fraying a bit.

I’ve worn an Arcade belt every day since I brought a couple, I don’t even notice it’s there and it’s stretch as fuck.

i’d say a nicely worn in old belt. i got a tommy hilfiger tan leather belt from my local outlets in like 2016. it prob wasn’t genuine leather but after all of these years i don’t really care because its pretty stretched out now and i don’t even notice its there when i’m skating. functional and practical. just see if you can find an old belt laying around. they’re comfier than you think

I’ve heard nothing but good things about Arcade belts. Talked to a sales rep and he doesn’t even take them out of his pants because they’re machine washable. He just washes his pants with them in there. Not sure if that’s a plus for anyone…

I was wearing a leather Brixton belt for a long time, but recently switched back to the ol’ shoelace because the leather kept stretching.

I think I’ll get another leather one in the future from a workwear store.

Got one of these from emage skate shop when I was in Denver this summer . Only had one belt before that that was a thrifted leather one I’ve had ten years .

I like fabric leather combo on this one

Backing Arcade belts.  I have the full elastic one too, but the leather belt with a small elastic section works perfectly and looks a bit better with formal wear if you decide to use it for that:

I have two Arcade Ranger belts, ie. full elastic with plastic click-on buckle. They're excellent, comfortable and low profile buckle does not press anywhere. Only slight issue I have encountered is that they might loosen a bit over long time. So, needs adjustment like once a week or so. Probably depends how tight one wants to wear them.

I'm going to have to agree with everyone here. Arcade belts. I have one that's a stretchy woven material. There are no loop holes, the belt can hook in at any point given its woven nature, plus its stretchy so it has some give and isn't too restrictive.|

Here's an example

Thanks for all the advice, I'm going to try an Arcade belt because they seem to be very affordable. I just don't know which style to chose. Hopefully they are long enough because  I bounce back and forth from 34-36.

Indy made a belt, many years ago, that had a skate tool on it. Pretty sick.
Indy still sucks tho.
I was given a 5.11 tactical 1.5” trainer belt. Works really well, and is comfortable.
Both options are basically Rittenhouse wear so fuck em, but yeah.

The Grip6 has been my go-to belt for skating since I got my Dickie’s loose fit pants with the small belt loops.

Arcade belts are great, plus you can machine wash them and leave them in your pants after a sweaty sesh and since they don’t have metal if your traveling you can leave on as well

I’ve have an arcade belt, they are great used it for years, still have it but I sometimes have to readjust it a lot and it can get annoying so I switched to those canvas clamp belts, they stay as tight as I need it and they are cheap af.

Bought two belts from a local leather maker ten years ago still the two best belts I've ever bought for $20 and they have aged perfectly

I use one of these - as its stupidly light and was about $5, then you can get a nice one for not skating too.

still rocking a canvas web belt with the metal buckle, trimmed so the excess is not comically long. haven't face planted in a while, if you do you get the extra pain of that buckle digging in your gut.

Belts are like lighters, you never buy them yourself, always need them and are constantly misplacing the one you like best.

Go to a western store and buy a leather belt with some cool shit like an eagle engraved in it. I’ve been rocking the same one since like 2005

I just fluctuate my weight in real time to fit my pants exactly. Burritos and milkshakes to size up, chug some eyedrops to size down. It's simple if you think about it.
