What do Gonz, the Boss, LL, and Swablo have in common? Wearing clothes inside out. Is there meaning to this? Is this some joke we don't understand? What is this, and why? Am I reading too much into this? Probably.

When I worked at SPoT, if two homies showed up with the same shirt on, they’d play Rock Paper Scissors to see who had to flip theirs inside out.

Could be that they're wearing shirts of conflicting sponsors. Gonz probably can't be seen in a Stussy shirt, same with Swablo. Louie probably can't be seen in Supreme, given that he's on Volcom.
I would assume industry political bullshit. But that's just my guess, who the fuck knows?

Maybe the spilled some coffee on their shirts. Or dropped a piece of Beef Braciole. Some dirt on the shirt is fine but don't wanna look like a slob in footage.

Ive got an Anti Hero baseball shirt that ive done this with for years now.
Also - I think it kinda plays into a scummy / grunge type look as well.

Sometimes you just throw something on and go skate but the session turns out pretty good and someone wants to get a trick for Sponsor A but realises he's wearing Sponsor D's tee.
Would Sponsor A prefer a blank tee or Sponsor D's logo. 95% of the time a blank would look better.

T-shirts are really more comfortable if you wear them inside out, just try it.
Its also the same for other clothing items when you can do it.

When I was in 5th grade one of the older skater homies talked me into wearing my pants inside-out to school. He made me think it would be very cool thing to do and that I would be very cool for doing it. Turns out he was kinda right. By the end of the day 3 other dudes in the same grade turned their pants inside-out and wore them like that for the rest of the day.
TLDR: Inside-out clothes have been part of skateboard history for decades.

do this if you are doing something where your clothes can get dirty so after you can just flip back to normal and have a clean shirt afterwards.
great for cooking, working on cars, even skateboarding ;)

T-shirts are really more comfortable if you wear them inside out, just try it.
Its also the same for other clothing items when you can do it.
This is true for socks. If you flip your socks inside out, the seams don't press against your toes. Way more comfortable. Works especially good with thick wool work socks.
