Title: Berkeley, CA
Post by: Candied cigarettes on December 06, 2021, 09:47:05 AM
I’m going to SF in February and my homie and I are planning on staying in Berkeley because he tells me it’s more mellow and the spots are more relatable. What are some good, easygoing spots in Berkeley? Specifically, any good curb spots would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Rockridge curbs and North Berkeley Bart both have good curbs.

I can hold my own on a ledge and love a good bank spot

Moved here a few months ago and Rockridge Bart station is a really cool mellow place to go skate around at. I know it’s not a lot of people’s favorite place that I’ve met up here but Joseph Emery park is fun one to mess around at as well.

Emeryville has a really nice, low ledge thats fun.
You'll probably like Bella Vista elementary in Oakland. Its a schoolyard with an assortment of ledges, little flatbars, a steep bank and a few bumps.

As far as spots go, Hollis in Emeryville, Sproul Plaza on the UC Berkeley Campus, Oakland Courthouse are all good ledge spots off the top of my head

I'm interested in moving to the area. Is it comparable to LA? I'd take the LA metro and always had access to good transition spots during the day and street spots at night.

It seems like there's more job opportunities for me in the Berkeley area.

Bart is pretty cool and reliable for the most part for me, usually pair it with my bike if it’s a good day out and I don’t want to drive.

Anyone know any good spots to skate in when it’s raining? Any garages I won’t get kicked out of immediately or something along those lines

There's a parking garage under sproul plaza on campus thats pretty warm and has good ground. Bit dirty but will do the job

Aye…
I’m out here in SF, would be happy to show you around if I’m free.
I get over to the East Bay on the regs as well.
Hit me up if you’re feeling it; I’ve got spots.

Bumping this because I’ll be in the Bay Area for almost a month starting next weekend. I don’t know anyone there besides my aunt, so I’m down to link up with folks out there.

Rockridge Bart station is a good place to meet people as well, I spend a lot of time there skating and hanging out after work and stuff. Everyone is usually pretty nice.

I'll second Courthouse and Rockridge, especially Rockridge. I love that spot and the vibes there are always great.

Another good one is Bella Vista park in Oakland. It's a little city approved DIY attached to an elementary school. Lots of mellow ledges, manny pads, and few ramps, and a halfpipe. It doesn't seem like it gets too busy and the people there are usually really friendly. It's pretty much the only spot that my friend who lives in Oakland skates.

Haven’t hit the courthouse yet, but I’ve been to Rockridge once since I’ve been out here so far, love that spot.

Bell vista is dope, I went there in February when I was actually staying in Berkeley.

Of course, your safety is absolutely first and foremost -- please do not approach anyone to retrieve it.

i used to skate there regularly from 2008-2013. went back a few years multiple times and its been overrun but the usual street folks.

i remember so many berkeley high students would skate there heavily. local bay area pro's like corey duffel, cairo foster, karl watson and Jim t would come by often. amazing memories
