Not sure i agree with banning the shift though.

I’m thinking correa will end up on the cubbies. Godspeed, sir.

I can’t fucking wait. So stoked. Missing baseball so fucking much. All the moves make sense to me.

9 inning double headers and no man on second in extras? Banning the shift? Unless I read it wrong earlier these are the right moves. Universal DH is great too. Fuck a robot ump as well. I like managers and umpires arguing and fucking full baseball brawls. Let’s go Os!

miguel cabrera is lined up for hit number 3000 today as the tigers play against the yankees

can't wait to see that as it is a very impressive feat that might not be repeated for a long time

I think there’s a few guys who could snag 3k, but yeah with the strikeout rate what it is now 3k is gradually getting more rare.

I think Miggy’s triple crown is more impressive to me. Now that’s something we may never see again.

i don't know, most (veteran) players that could be considered for the 3000 hits run are pretty far and they are not getting younger either

https://www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/H_active.shtml

but yeah, you're absolutely right

a batting triple crown is so impressive, especially in our era

You’re right though! i just looked it up… i thought maybe the usual suspects would be closer Votto, Altuve, Trout etc. Miggy and Pujols only active players that will achieve it. Robinson Cano might have a shot, but seems unlikely. Maybe if he DHs..

Guess the Emphasis on home runs and such now. Defensive shifts. Makes me miss guys like Ichiro…

aaron boone wasn't feeling like it and my boy got walked

and yeah, ichiro was such a great player

got a fascination for japanese baseball players and as a cubs fan, we got seiya suzuki this year and he's been amazing so far!

hahaha always happy to see the yankees lose too

only player i root for on that team is anthony rizzo

i really don't hate players in general but seeing gerrit cole being absolute dogshit on the mound at the start of this season made me feel happy inside - nice way to live up to the expectations that come with this massive and ridiculous contract

he'll probably pick it up and become dominant again rather sooner than later though

The lone Astros fan (i know i know) so hearing Cole throw a hissy fit over a 4 minute delayed start is hilarious… big ass contract at the cost of being the ace for the pinstripes with all that pressure..

Plus the banning of sticky stuff. Framber Valdez is another guy who honestly hasn’t been the same since.

I help coach my kid’s little league team. We’re the Rockies. Our head coach is from Cleveland and wears a wahoo hat religiously. Not about that guardian life. I’m a lifelong giants fan tho and we’re going to the A’s game tomorrow for little league day. Kid is confused to say the least, but understands this is a giants house. I love baseball. I played up until high school and stopped for skateboarding and smoking weed, but now I’m more into it than both of those things as I’m turning 40. I just put together a pitch back in our back yard and I’m throwing more than my kid.

sorry for the tmz post but maybe bauer's not a scumbag after all - he must be confident that he was defamed to sue this woman like that

abuse against women is among the worst things a human being can do and it always makes my blood boil but i'll be the first one to eat my words if he's not found guilty - let's see how that pans out for him

also the cubs had their biggest shutout victory ever against the pirates last weekend, that was fun to watch

Raised by die hard Giants fans the family group chat was bashing Joc Pederson once we got him from the Dodgers, but he's been a saving grace as a batter more than enough times for that opinion to do a full 180!

Personally I was always glad to have him on, go Giants.

Love my dodgers. Went to this game last summer. (https://www.truebluela.com/2021/7/11/22572043/los-angeles-dodgers-records-runs-scored-home-runs-dodger-stadium-blowout) It was right when people were starting to go out, I think mask stuff or gathering were just being lifted. The crowd was so excited, and during the game, there were so many fucking homeruns/scoring/grand slams going on that you would miss something as you turned to talk to your friends about what had just happened last. It was like it was 1999 and Stone Cold came out with beer and serving up stunners for 9 innings straight, everyone in the crowd was going nuts and it was what a ton of people needed right then.

I went to dodgers vs giants a few weeks back and it was so fun. not a dodgers fan really(angels) but the atmosphere at game was just way better than an angels game, plus they smoked the giants. I hadn't been to a dodger's game since I was maybe 10 years old sitting in the pavillion wooden bench seats when they still served alcohol in that section and there was constantly fights lol. biggest hang up is dodgers stadium is a fuckin nightmare getting into/exiting even using the new free shuttle from union station

Giving up prospects always hurts, but having a shot at winning a World Series > trading your #1-25 prospects IMO… some may never even pan out. Ok Maybe your #1 would suck ha…

Still 1.5 or 2 years whatever it is rental of Soto you do it. Now he’s probably extra juiced to go to a winning team too…

Seattle gave up a ton for Castillo.. may not even make the playoffs. Again both clubs kudos for going all in.

you're right but they gave up some really good guys to the nationals, both teams have improved drastically here

Yeah i mean nats could be set in 5-10 years…

but they’ve also had Harper, Turner, Rendon, Scherzer, and now Soto. Im just saying Padres have a team for the now. Soto could be the missing piece who knows…

I look at like the Rockies or the d backs who seem to be in development hell. Detroit somewhat too…

Shit the Astros have Forrest Whitley who is/was supposed to be a lights out pitcher. Taken high in the draft years ago. Kid just can’t stay healthy.

i didn't look at it like that but that's true, rendon and harper are both injury prone and the latter wasn't with the team anymore when they won their world series in 2019

i mean even stephen strasburg was drafted first overall by the nats, used to be so good but he has been a shell of himself since he got his big contract mainly due to injury, just seems that they really aren't lucky

hopefully history doesn't repeat itself in dc and they can build a decent roster in the years to come

yeah, it's a literal lottery sometimes, you see players like mookie betts being taken in the fifth round that become absolute superstars

hell, wade boggs and albert pujols were selected in super late rounds so you never know what you're gonna get

most of the players they got in the trade really seem to be very good though, especially abrams and wood

Yeah for sure. That Jones kid drafted 1 or 2 is already hurt out for the season.

But I was just pointing out the talent the nats have had…Castillo to Seattle now that was an overpay. That’s gonna hurt. Especially if Castillo walks…

I wonder if Seattle offered that same package for Soto…

sorry got all excited to talk baseball for a bit

castillo to seattle will only work if they can make the playoffs this year, i guess - they really need it, twenty one years with no playoffs appearance is way too much

SD whooping up on NY last night was awesome, and even sweeter that they jumped all over phony-ass Scherzer.  Finish them off tonight, PLEASE.

Nope...but a Jays fan who could not believe Mayza gave up 4 runs on 3 pitches to start perhaps the biggest choke job ever (must have been taking notes from the Leafs). Up 8-1 at home and lose 9-10? My gawd was I pissed, and my son was dumbfounded. Our bullpen comes in throwing low 90s...Seattle's high 90s to 100. Huge difference at that level. Both Vladdy and Manoah need to talk less unless they can back it up in the playoffs. Scattered reply but hard to be clear and concise with that gongshow.

And...my Dad (ex baseball ump) is a Yankees fan so I'll get to hear it disected in great detail as it's Canadian Thanksgiving weekend and we're hosting. Fun times.

did your pops ump in the majors ? That’s sick..

Seeing that collision bummed me out… i was very sad when George left. He’s got that Griffey-itis crash into the wall, Dive, slide whatever it takes to catch the ball…

I thought he was gonna play it off the bounce.. maybe only a run would’ve scored. But when bichette came into frame, it felt like slow motion. Baseball can be a cruel mfer..

Yeah that collision was harsh.

At first I thought it was some kind of Major League-esque fuck up, but it was an extremely tough play… two dudes running full speed; some bad luck and a perfectly placed hit.  Hope Springer is ok.

Goddamnit San Diego don’t blow this.

I’m so fucking mad the Jays blew an 8-1 lead and ended up losing last night. Hell of a game though.

I’m particularly mad at Bo for going for a play he had no business trying and hurting Springer in the process, that’s exactly how I got my first concussion wheb I played Little League.

Any Seattle fans here?  Fucking amazing comeback.  That's gonna give them some forward momentum (they'll need it against Houston).

SD whooping up on NY last night was awesome, and even sweeter that they jumped all over phony-ass Scherzer.  Finish them off tonight, PLEASE.
[close]

Fun times.

Nope. He never went that high as an ump - some Canadian minor league and was Umpire in Chief for a large Ontario district for over 20 years. He would do training clinics with MLB Umpires every 3 years or so to keep his high level accreditation when we were younger. He knows and loves the game...but he's already called me today to tell me the "3 things that cost the Jays the game" as he couldn't wait until tomorrow when he's coming over, even though he'll tell me all over again.

Totally agree. Thought Springer would trap it and keep the ball in front of him and we'd still be up....but then again I also thought Bass would lock it down after that - so what the hell do I know.

Mets and Rays gone too. Didn't see any of this happening.

Well.. the Cards out with a lackluster performance from multiple guys (but mostly staring at you Paul Goldshit)... I'll probably watch the Guardians vs the Yankees, hope the Mariners slay the Astros. Would be nice to see Seattle vs either NY or CLE. On the NL side... would prefer the Phils vs the Padres.

@DaleSr The good thing is that in the Padres vs. Dodgers competition, either way, California wins. That said, I respectfully, RESPECTFULLY, have to support my Dodgers. Born in LA county so I can't front on my set. If LA didn't lose Seager, I think this post-season would be different. For whatever reason, when playing baseball as a kid, the team I was on was the Dodgers for multiple years.  During that period of time, my favorite player was Mike Piazza.  Why you might ask? His name looked like the word "pizza". I subconsciously appreciated his facial hair, similar to how Brian Anderson was into Bluto as a child. However, whereas Brian got into Bears as an adult, I just overeat pizza. I will have to look and see if I can pull up a childhood photo with my Dodgers regalia.

EDIT: Mookie is a REALLY great player.  It also so happens that the first Pug I got to name I chose the name Mookie, because of Mookie Blaylock (it was the mid 90s). So, there is a tangential Pug-factor at play (in my mind).

Not in the Judeo-Christian sense. Also, I am joking. As with most sports fans, I pick what supports my narrative for the teams in my immediate local. If my team doesn't win, I block it from my memory, like being touched by a preacher.

Yankees one loss away... please please please Cleveland.  Bring out Charlie Sheen to throw the first pitch and end this shit.

Happy to see Atlanta gone (although i truly thought they were gonna bowl over the NL).  We don't have to see that racist-ass chant the whole post-season.

Rough night for the Yanks last night, one strike away and they blew it. If the Yanks can't win this series, I hope the Guardians take out the Astros.

Also congrats to SD on a huge win over the Dodgers. I really didn't see that happening. They're my hope for taking it all if the Yanks are out.
