2 mins in and I'm howling.

Dude is funny as hell can't wait to watch this after work. I hope kelly doesn't ruin it with his excessive laughter now that someone actually funny is on.

Dude called out kellys laugh in the first minute saying they need to bring back that button hahah

That's how you bounce back.
Good guests definatly elevate the show (fukn duh). Few times he brings up touchy subjects and everyone goes quiet. Wonder if this was filmed after the oblow incident(or how long after)
-
comedy!

This is what The Nine Club has been needing: a professional to come in and steer the conversation and keep things moving. Normand's episode is a tight 1 hr 40 min, compared to the bloated 3+ hours slogs. It was like having a guest host filling in.

I was gonna say, pretty bold of them to bring up and complain about people criticizing them so soon after that episode.
-
Praise Allah! Easily the best guest they've had on the show. It's funny how big of a fan he was of Jeron and didn't know Chris at all.
-
THIS - This is how you break a streak of a show that no one has wanted to watch in a while.

Ok, I can’t be the only one who has no idea who this is and had never heard of him before (even after googling).
Or am I alone on this one?? :(

He's a comedian, not "in" skateboarding per say, but very vocal about his past involvement and continued admiration. My father's gay.
-
can't believe they got kevin hart on the show
-
If you haven't heard of him, this is a must watch:

His podcast "tuesdays with stories" with Joe List (another top-tier comedian) is consistently really funny too. Comedy!

This guy is a normal guest on JRE and isn't really funny outside of saying quick shocking barbs. Kind of whack.

Dude is a bro ass bro

Are you basing that off Joe Rogan appearances or his actual material?

I’ve never heard of him before this either. Also, I’m not a fan of stand up comedy really but I’m still listening to the episode regardless. I agree with the person who posted above, I’m not even done with the show but he’s said some shitty things and the hosts didn’t really say much in response. Although, he brought up women in Skateboarding and all three hosts started talking about how there’s a lot of rippers out there and Kelly said some stat like 1/3 of the skateboarders in the world right now are women and he responded with something like “NO WAY!?.” He brought women skateboarders up in regards to back in the day they weren’t hot and wanted to know if now the women chasing after (male) skaters were hotter. That was pretty shitty in my opinion. He wasn’t thinking about women skaters, he was thinking about women wanting to “get with” male skaters as in like hooking up. The hosts did say something in response to that so that’s a positive.
-
Fuck ya nine club, this shit was dicey putting him on especially after Oblow so props to them for saying fuck it.

Why's Kelly wearing an lrg shirt? Guy loves repping brands that did him dirty

Heard this over the weekend. Karl Watson is TM for L-R-G and got Chico back on. Not sure if Kelly is on too but Karl could be sending product to the OG riders.

I feel like if I met Mark in person I would think we would become really good friends based on our shared interests, but what would actually happen is I would be unusually awkward and replay the horror show that was our social interaction for the rest of my life.
He is an incredible stand up. Easily one of the best out right now.

Why wasn’t there a thread for the Swift episode? That was in their top 10

Caught this dude's set in the West Village a few months ago. Hysterical. Will def be watching this.
Someone called him out at a show asking if he could kickflip, which he did on cam in snow boots after the show. Where ya at Jonah Hill?

Big comedy fan over here, there's a a lot of great comics out there right now, but Mr. Normand is definitely one of the finest.
If you like Normand, definitely check out: Jessica Kirson, Sam Morril, Joe List, Tim Dillon, and Chris DiStefano
-
Yeah never heard of this dude either, being from New Orleans Warren Day was definitely a legend. Had to ask a bunch of the dudes in his age range only one dude really remembers him supposedly he did skate but wasnt into it for very long.

He acknowledges this in the interview, says he skated from age 13 to 18, quit when he got to college

@Monopolyman lol i mean he is a huge within the comedy world, i don't think he is dying for the sort of miniscule bump the nine club will give him. and zero and baker might as well be one in the same lookin back on em in the early 2000s. hesh guys jumping down big shit
-
I definitely feel like this was in response to the oblow thing so they could say look we just let people talk and be edgy for views thing. Especially given this was filmed last week. It wasn’t a bad podcast but it was a bad skate podcast. But it was honestly more entertaining than anything any of these people have ever done in their entire career. Which is ducking hilarious.

I definatly agree with not a bad podcast but a bad skate podcast. But it's definatly what they needed to do. I don't think it could work on a regular basis tho have to keep to one famous person every six months or more."remember this thing?" " Oh yeah and what about that thing" "Omg Reynolds exists" type convo probably would get old for regular viewers.
Also don't know if it has anything to do with oblow. They probably booked him months ago he did the typical comedian thing and filmed a half dozen podcasts in a weekend

"skateboarding's just more pure"
"not that I'm against diversity or anything"
"you just gotta wonder, is he up there because he's good or because he's in a wheelchair or trans?"
"you watch the Oscars now, and you wonder, is this the best movie.... or is it just pro-whatever?"
"i was scared to say it, as the honky"
"you're just judging me based on a zinger, you don't even know me"
this dude sucks lol boomer ass takes
-
Cant help but feel like hes doing all of this for purely self promotional reasons. He mixed up Zero and Baker, it honestly doesnt seem like he’s paying much attention to skating
I mean... aren't all Nine Club guests trying to promote themselves/tell their stories?
I'm sure the Nine Club was stoked to have a big name like Mark Normand on, while this is just another podcast in a sea of podcasts for the guy. Compared to going on Joe Rogan regularly, the amount of self-promotion he can squeeze out of the Nine Club is miniscule.
-
This and the Jenkem piece really got me thinking that skaters need to stop having googly eyes everytime a person of note in another field has a relation with skating.

I think he was calling out woke culture.. which I agree with.

Kelly is a big comedy fan and he’s been talking about wanting to get this guy on since he found out he skated like a year ago. Seems like Mark does every podcast he can, don’t think it’s any deeper than that.
Props to Mark for shouting out our hometown hero Warren (rip) and OG Humidity
-
I abandoned the Nine Club a long time ago, but I have to watch this one. Can't believe they got Kevin Hart!

Kelly was on a Jim Jefferies podcast recently and it was pretty terrible.

WOW that was painful…

That's a tuf podcast to do and seem interesting. talking about skateboarding in any kind of detail to non skateboarders rarely works. I'll give them props for branching out and trying mainstream podcasts tho

Honestly thought that was gonna be way worse.

My sides are still in pain; they have been split and I am currently still in stitches.

Swift’s episode was definitely one of the best in a long time.
I can’t wait to get to this one. If you’re offended that a comedian said some dicey shit on a podcast (especially if you’re unfamiliar with mark normand’s work and comedy toward woke culture) then I have nothing to say to you other than “you fuckin baby.”
