Love the trajectory his career has taken, he's the first pro that comes to mind when I think of someone "growing into their style". Him and Reynolds are holding down Baker, may just pick up one of their boards to ride (the B2 shape, ain't touching the OG Concave).

Baker should get a little heavier on the Spanly art with the decks. I usually just see brand logo series stuff in the wild. I like his designs. He's killing it on all fronts right now it seems. Good to see.

Saw spankyat a demo recently. Was already a fav and even more so after. Especially hearing from my ripper friend who got some more personal moments with Spanky.
My buddy and I had a pretty cool moment and it was so funny because we made so much fun of our fan out moment. It wasn’t even that big but man, I love this dude I don’t even know.
Also, dude has the best switch bigspin ever.
Anyways loved watching this (obviously)

Good video. Rarely see skate content with well done color grading. Cool to hear a bit about how Spanky developed his slappy style after knee injuries. Great to see him charging hard at this stage of his career.

Also, areas out East like Altadena, Highland Park, Mount Washington, El Serreno, etc. weren't super expensive 10 years ago as they were still rough. The prices skyrocketed in the past 5-7 years.

Yeah it’s wild now , my buddy’s like Ima get a condo for 800k in highland park . Like that’s stupid af at that point just move to Santa clarita and buy an actual house for half the price. But he also said in the same week money was too tight to go out for a beer so it’s like you were never getting that house as is lol.

I worked with a lady on a production (location scout) just before the pandemic hit; she mentioned her and her husband bought a house in Highland Park back in 2011 for $300Kish. They wanted a home and were willing to wait for the gentrification to hit. And it hit. She mentioned their house (at the time in 2019) was already valued at $800k+.

Being smart with his money early on and probably having a sizable downpayment coupled with having a consistent, long history with most of his sources of income (Baker, RVCA, Emerica) probably makes getting a loan relatively easy. He's also married and they may be a two income household. Gonna wait on the next spanly interview where he reveals his credit score to get a more accurate read on how he secured a mortgage in LA.

Jerry + Louie are like your college friends. Wild times getting smashed when you had zero cares in the world, could travel the world and party hard.
Jerry + Spanly are like your mature friends you make at work, when you have a mixed schedule and more life committments. You both still rip, tone down the skateboarding but will have an occasional craft beer (1 pint only) after the session. Discussion topics include 401k, investments and child rearing advice.

Its so cool he didn't become a self aggrandising born again Christian like most pro skaters with party habits do who got sober.
Been my favourite skater since "the kids aren't alright" article in maybe the skateboarder mag - him, bryan and terry, maybe Evan? Man skateboarding has some stories. Like the trajectory of these guys lives is crazy.
