Title: Jake Rupp - Satori wheels.
Post by: benboardbreaker on May 12, 2022, 12:56:59 PM
I always loved how Jake Rupp skated. His frontside noseslides are so stalled and beautiful. Satori has just made this clip of his old skating honoring him.

The guy was from rural Maryland right? Does he still skates? Any one knows?

That was incredible and mostly new to me.

I saw Jake at a contest at Landsdown, MD (I think he won). I backed out (contest was open to whomever) after seeing Jake warming up.

He’s got that style where the board looks connected to his feet at all times. Such a great skater. His style is timeless.

Cool story. I love anecdotes like this. Was this before he got in skate videos? btw. I loved the whole 90's rasta skate style with Rupp, Matt Rodriguez, Tony Cox, Quim C. etc. - perhaps one of my favorite fashion/styles in skateboarding

Summer of 96’-97’.

He was new to me and not in videos.

Rodney Jones was also a Landsdown local at the time.

B-more didn’t get the EE3 treatment.

Gary Smith was also pretty regional at the time.

There was also this dude Chris Bush that was the king of Landsdown but I think he had a kid at 17-18 so there goes skating.

This is great. Jake deserves all the shine. Unique blend of pop and control, and great trick selection. Didn't film as heavily as others from his era but had always had amazing photos throughout his career.

Yeah Jake still skates, he lives in rural MD still and works on a farm. Super kind, humble, sweet guy. He’s @sunbrewsourtea on ig, posts clips!

Agree.

This may be old man nostalgia talking, but that entire time period was a very special era.
