Just a few days ago i saw kelly wearing an LRG shirt and thinking: "that still exists?"
Apparently it's back.
I dig it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yKnCWvjku4

LRG was always such a strange brand, imo. Never understood why they were in skating to begin with...especially with people like Billy Marks on their team during the last iteration.
-
"leg was around before there was the term street wear" xD
-
It never left, me and my boys stay getting Lifted and Researching topics as a Group.
-
Awesome, Gonna hit the Burlington Coat factory after work
-
i still wear the clothes from like 2005 ;D I remember the owner of a company i worked at said to me "Is that your pride shirt" because my hoodie had like a bit of a rainbow on it
-
https://youtu.be/QmqbJZxX0oE
Put the og team back on and I'll maybe be interested. Funny how this is more in fashion now than at time of release
-
We're leaving the 90s trend and entering the 2000s trend
-
Awesome! LRG was hot shit in hometown, even among non skaters, around 2010
-
I welcome this.
-
yeah i fux w this...lrg was sick, before all the edm/ bro step guys started rockin the shit outta it.
team/ video was sick asf too.
-
used to live down the street from the warehouse, and they always had absolutely insane warehouse sales. like, handful of t shirts for $5 good.
-
LRG is like tapout for guys that can switch back tail.
-
i remember from 2004-2007 i strictly wore LRG. i had over 30 shirts, 10 hoodies/jackets and 5-6 pants. I still have some of the things and am stoked.
I felt they always had a good team with dudes like Karl Chico Adelmo JP Jadeed then later adding Rodrigo TX was really cool.
Wonder who will be on the new team
-
I've always wondered… why the fuck does "1947" play such a big role in the branding? Karl's shirt in the video says "original research group since 1947" and I always thought it was strange to be so cryptic on an otherwise straightforward apparel brand.
I mean, aside from the giraffe stuff (dafuq?)
-
I loved LRG in 7th and 9th grade. Goodluck fellas
-
My favorite LRG piece ever was a crewneck sweatshirt with a kangaroo pocket in front like the ones you find on hoodies.
Then my bitch of an ex took it.
Never have a found another crewneck with that feature. I miss that sweatshirt way more than I miss her.

LRG clothes didnt suck. Better than gear of it's time and some today. I had tons of LRG gear, in that 2004-2009 (which for me was late high early college) At the time it was also cool to wear clothing brand that was associated with Kanye west, talib kweli, dave chappelle, and Karl watson. It gave me black kid validation.
of course when the skate program left I lost interest. Would totally rock LRG again.

haha!
LRG would be sold at your local skateshop, zumiez, Mervyn's California, and Ross. Very weird brand. I remember going to the "Give Me My Money, Chico" premier at FTC in SF, brand died right afterwards if I recall. Not expecting huge things here, but never oppose Chico being taken care of in some way.

That last video 1947 done by Kyle Camarillo was so good.

@ORGANIKARL
can LRG either get tasty a new crewneck or track down the original from his ex?

The dudes working at vape stores that are still into dubstep and sell bogus E are gunna be stoked.

i used to work at a vape store/ smoke shop and my corowrker wore exclusively green shirts or brown and had massive dreads
occasionally he would wear all black but hahahaha so accurate

Maybe it's generational, but twisting out of slides the hard way should be called a Watson, not a Suciu.

To be fair, L-R-G originally was only at skate shops and streetwear shops for a while. When they got into Macys, I think that is where things started to go downhill. I remember getting L-R-G shirts at 510 Skate and shirts were so weighted at the time. It felt like you bought some premium shit. Then when they started selling at Macys, you noticed the quality went down which I assume meant they got their stuff made overseas. It happens to so many companies. I still like them more than Volcom.
I wish Jack Curtin can get back on but he's got a clothing sponsor. Even Carlos or Miles would be dope to get back on but I think they all ride for their shoe clothing companies.

Need LRG to collab with sml
Kelly Hart is the king of zombie sponsorships. Wonder what dead brand he’ll revive next
Remember when it seemed like Droors was coming back?

Cut out Kelly and this would have way more potential

I hope this means the quality goes up. I used to like the LRG shorts as they fit me well
but when they killed the skate team, within a year or two the quality did a nosedive imho

Isn’t Suciu more known for twisting in? And though Karl has a mean bs half-cab fs nosegrind to fs 180 out, his twists *out* feel more distinctive. Perhaps this could serve as the basis for a generational truce
-
Fun fact. LRG was the first "skate jean" to have stretch in them. I thought they were goofy as fuck at first.

I thought Circa or something associated to Muska was the first ones to have that. Could be wrong.

just after the skateshop era but those hustle trees shirts were tight

Yeah, I always associated them more with street wear (like Marlo decked out in it in The Wire), and underground hip-hop. Their team always struck me as a bit weird having guys like Marks and Sandoval on it. Although, I'll always love that Jack Curtain part skating to Diamond District. That def fit LRG to a tee.

So... i mean what is good with all that 1947 shit?

I mean, aside from the giraffe stuff (dafuq?)
"Lifted Research Group (commonly known as LRG) ... Started in 1999 by Co-Creators Jonas Bevacqua and Robert Wright."
"Where did the acronym for this forward thinking brand originate? It’s actually a well thought out concept.
Lifted is a sense of vision, it’s seeing above everybody. Being above the crowd, that’s a big thing, the giraffe (logo) has always played a part of. The giraffe is the animal with the biggest heart and sees above all,” the Marketing Coordinator informed. “Research is the study and design of our culture, and Group is the collective of individuals who support and inspire the brand.”
Even the company’s logos have deeper meanings. From the roots symbolizes creation of where ideas first take hold, to the tree itself showing strength and capabilities. The cycle logo that is often used around the tree represents constant renewal, evolution, growth, and change. Lastly, 1947 and 47 were included as a tribute to Jonas’ mom, her age when she pushed Bevacqua to pursue his dreams."

Want the a LRG backpack that had a fold out tiny chair that detached from it. I remember still having a working Mula dialer bag for years, and then getting the chair bag to rock as well. Lot King status for a year or two. Pretty sure this was pre Phish hiatus, buy again maybe lrg didn't make the chair bag
*Maybe chair bag combo was 555Soul.

Yea Marlo wearing LRG was dope, wasn't marlo jamaican in the show?
I remember watching the LRG skate video at FTC in Japan in 09 and thinking the same about the team, strange mix of styles not associated with underground hip hop or reggae lifestyle

555 hoodie, LRG tee, green cargo pants, hemp cats

They jumped the shark when they made the full zip skull hoodie. That was when they crossed over in trying to be a Bape brand. That was also when Krew did a full zip which sold like hot cakes too.

Why would I wear a shirt that says LRG on it if it’s a XL?
-
LRG reminds me of like the gateway to pink polo Kanye and Gap Common. Maybe like Phrenology era The Roots

I had a friend that was gifted a Hustle Trees shirt by his parents for Christmas. They repossessed it after they got hip to what it meant.

I've always fucked with LRG, even bought some kits over covid. Some of their shit is great, some of it is ho hum; not much is straight up wack. Found a lot of great items on clearance at Ross. At worst, you're probably just gonna wear something generic from them. They had a cool mixtape CD in the early 2000s. I do still associate Jack Curtain with it.
Edit: kook me if u want, idgaf, i fucks with their tiger-style shit heavy.

Just baltimore. The actor is of haitian descent. In the show he went to the antilles to check on his off-shore account.

Speaking of Wire fits, the Greek’s crew were fucking dashing I would not be mad if I saw someone ripping in the getup Sergei wears when he punks Cheese.

plus 1947 was an amazing video

isn't he a grand collection guy? seems like a lot of the canadian homies are sponsored/partners in grand

Ishod would kill it in their LRG stitched jorts.
I'm being dead serious. Jorts, for some fucking reason, are coming back into fashion. And the ONLY skater that can pull off that look is Ishod.

Forgive my ignorance, but is there a point to/purpose for these hoodies that zip up and down the center? Like I think I saw one where it zips up over the face?! Benny the Butcher there's hoody looks like it zips down the back? Why?

Bape was the originator of the full zip hoodie (shark head), then when every rapper was rocking it, every brand then began making full zip hoodies.

Couple or years back the local had a sample sale and they had an LRG orange hoody with a wrap around print of a guy fly fishing. It was amazing. Unfortunately a medium. So my buddy got a great Christmas present.
