Euro premieres start September 1st in London
-
Can’t wait for the next video, “I Think We’ll Be Doing Very Well As A Whole In The Near Future, But I Can Neither Confirm Nor Deny That”
Seriously though, should be good.
-
Didn’t Pontus go through a bout of depression midway through the editing process?! That’s some Fully Flared type shit! Can’t wait.
-
Love me a Polar vid.

Really excited to go to the London premiere just hoping for more info like prices and times
-
Yes please.
-
Yes. The last one is one of my favourites. Hopefully my local has a screening.
-
Hopefully some Dane Brady clips. I love driving by him and commentating on his career out the car window. I'm sure he does too.
-
Pontus claims this is his last video.
Should be wild
-
can't wait to see some hjalte and ville footy
-
My body is ready

I think he's still going through if it you look at his Instagram stories. Dude spent years building a house in Portugal, gets broken up with, moves to Paris, goes back to becoming a raging horny alcoholic posting bizarre stories. There was one where he was asking for a 'female' graphic designer, a story were he was simulating a sex act with a coffee press and would post weird selfies of him as if he was on Tinder with his age and what his interests are. It's as public of a breakdown as you can have.
-
Can't wait!!

This
And always love any boserio footage
++ ! The dude's skating just looks the best, scares you through the screen

With this house I was confused to - he really invest a lot of time, money and passion in this project - after it was completed he broke up and left Porto. This shows some heavy difficulties.
Maybe related to a brake up with his girl friend, he was already there in some Ménage-à-trois kind of relationship.
Pontus was in the past open with dealing with his Bipolar disorder.
This can cause an increase in sexuality. Libido can increases enormously, especially in the periods just before mania sets in.
I am not a psychologist but I had a friend and her behavior in-between her manic and depressive phases was
really crazy. She only get in contact with me in her manic phases- and she was nice, lovely and fun to have her around.
But another friend she ask also for help in her depressive phases, and what she have done in-between was out of the box. She really was hurting her self with her sexual activities.
I am open and funloving myself, never judge people on there sexuality - so not easy to get shocked - but I was fully understanding her depressive phase not leaving the house for 2 weeks after her ragging sexual offerings to everyone for everything.
Hopefully Pontus got the treatments and help he need and is in good company.
-
Poster for the video has a very Nicholas Ray vibe to it - another demented perfectionist who experimented with the video format in a similar way in his later years, now I can't help but draw the parallel. Wishing nothing but the best to Pontus and looking forward to this (actually all the more excited I didn't realize it was dropping so soon).
-
i cant wait to still call this the polar video

Yeah nice pull, even the title font looks a bit like Ray’s “Bigger Than Life”

It’s lowkey annoying that he never posted the finished version of that Portugal house.

I’m not a psychologist either, but I’ve learned from my own experience that psychologists throw around the “bi-polar” disorder diagnosis lazily and way too often. Pontus had a really gnarly concussion back in the day, it was really fucking gnarly and maybe his wires got crossed. That’s pretty much what happened to me and cognitive therapy was the only thing that really helped. A bullshit, lazy bi-polar diagnosis and bi polar meds only made things ten times worse. But maybe that’s not the case with him and I’m just speculating. Either way, hope that dude gets the help he needs.
-
Don’t think this is the place to discuss another person’s mental health without their participation. Even though Polar gets its name from there. Haven’t been this excited for a video in years! Heard some rumors about Roman Gonzales really going in for this one.
-
! Heard some rumors about Roman Gonzales really going in for this one.
Hope this is true, he has a very unique trick selection and I always want to see more more of him. There’s quite a few first “real” parts in that lineup that I’m looking forward to, Ville Wester and Jamie Platt haven’t really had proper parts before as far as I know so I’m hyped to see what they’ve been working on.
I’ve no doubt this will be an amazing video. Pontus is incredible at what he does. Hope he’s doing better mental health wise if what’s been speculated is true. But as someone already said it’s unfair to make assumptions as an outsider.

Only if they gave out such over priced and ill fitting pantaloons for free at games as they do the Finger.
Full disclosure, I skate in 24 dollar Walmart dickies, and spend the other 100 on food.

Just heard I'm gonna see it next Saturday, so looking forward to it. I'm actually gonna set up a polar board this weekend.
-
Premiere in The Netherlands was sick, can definitely agree that Emile stepped up his game. Wish that I could've seen Nick Boserio and Shin skate but they were just chilling on the sideline. Most of the crew did actually. Nick did kook a local contest skater who was showing off with his best contest runs which was hilarious. Emile did a nosepick from the balcony into the big quarter which was absolutely nuts, clip is on Polar's instagram story right now.
-
Is there a Shin part?
-
where oski
-
Damn looks like they’re not gonna do an NYC premiere 😢
-
Saw it the other night. I gotta say, I felt pretty let down. A little too montage heavy for me. Everyone's best tricks weren't in their actual parts, which honestly just annoyed me. It got to the point where you thought somebodies part was going to start, but then it ventured off elsewhere. This happened with Nick Boserio in particular, 3 or 4 times.
Started off with a montage, that led into Shin's title card, but he only had a few tricks, and I don't think he really appears much after that.
Jamie Platt had a full part which I really enjoyed.
A random Los Angeles/California montage where I'm pretty sure every trick is a ABD.
This transitions into Oski's 'part' which is maybe half a dozen tricks.
A very short Dane Brady part that was maybe 10 tricks with 1 or 2 tricks from Nick Rio's.
A New York montage which transitions into Aaron's part which is 90 percent 50-50 variations. It was as predictable as the sun rising tomorrow morning. I can't believe he stooped as low as falling out of a 50-50 down the Rockaway Rail and doing a limp body varial.
Emiles section. Chaotic and fun. No one really skates like him. The switch ollie was the funniest thing I've seen done in a skateboard in years. Like Aiden Mackey he just reminds me of that time of skateboarding when you first start and everything is so exciting.
Another montage, I think this was the Portland one. Emiles and Aaron's best tricks were in this.
I think Nicks part was next. I would've loved to have seen more Australian footage from him. It seems like everything of his was filmed in 2019 bar one or two tricks. Also he skates to a song that is pretty much Ave's song in Dancing On Thin Ice but with female vocals. I want to say it's a Phillip Glass song because it was that similar. Exact same tone.
Roman's part, which transitioned into a Paris montage of sorts and then into Paul Grunds part which was good, edited differently to the rest of the video, which was a welcome change at that point.
At this point I was kind of waiting for it just to be over, Hjalte skates to a song that doesn't fit, and just distracts me from his skating, another montage, and then Villes part.
Was expecting more overall, a more tightly edited video, with more defined sections. Interested to see how I feel about the video upon a second or third viewing and if anything changes for me.

This tends to be the case with all Pontus videos.

He said that this is going to be the last full length video he does. Either that means no more full lengths for polar, or he hands the reins to someone else?

Emiles footage was genuinely impressive, and I think that is part to do with him not being the most 'gifted' skater. I don't think he does anything easily and he's not a natural talent, but I appreciate the work he puts in, and it shows. Unique spots and unique trick selection.
Re: Ben Lawrie, I wasn't left wanting. I don't think he fits into that video and this is coming from a fan.

I used to work right next to a spot the Polar crew hit (I think it is we blew it), which was this steel sculpture that's sort of like a bank which goes into a steeper bank, so it has a kind of transition feel... kind a hard to describe it. Either way - the way Emile attacked that was so fucking entertaining and awesome! I never seen anyone charge a spot the way he did - it was almost like watching Lord of the Rings, when Gandalf brings the Rohirrim back to Helm's Deep! The spot was intimidating, but I believe it got scared of Emile.
TL;DR Emile is amazing to watch!

thought the video was good. not as good as the last two polar videos, but i enjoyed it more than i expected to. great music supervision. really curious as to how pontus curated the footage for this. felt like a lot of stuff was really old, and there isn't enough footage of some people given the four year wait between videos. i also share the sentiment that having some people have parts versus some people with footage scattered throughout is kinda weird. dunno why he refuses to give oski a full part in any of these vids.
starts with a fast-paced malmo montage. shin's only footage is in here (unfortunately).
jamie has first part. didn't know what to expect but he's got good lanky style and all the london footage in here meshed well with polar's aesthetic. i'm a fan
kyle wilson has a guest trick, which is cool but also drives home how fucking white this company is
there was an LA montage at some point early on in the video. i don't really remember it.
i think there was a portland montage with some of oski's best clips at that DIY bridge thing that segues into dane brady's part? it's short and sweet, gnarlier than his other parts and feels like every trick counts.
transitions to an NYC montage and then aaron's part, which isn't as 50-50 heavy as i'd been led to believe. he does what he's good at but there are some surprises thrown in there, then it's back to portland with emile and nick boserio. emile's clips were a highlight of the video, for sure. his energy is contagious. love watching brass skate but couldn't help but notice how old all of his footage is
no nick rios part, just four clips, which is such a fucking bummer. (no ben lawrie either but i didn't expect that.) i try to judge videos on what they are and not what i wanted them to be, but i'm really disappointed on that front
now we're in paris for roman and paul's parts. roman's part is sort of business as usual (nothing bad, just mostly expected) but paul fucking kills it. hope this isn't it for his career now that he's the TM, seems like he's just starting to really blossom
hjalte! probably the most "normal" part of the video, editing-wise, and exactly what you'd hope to see from him. loved the little jarmers section towards the end
if you guys like ville, you're in for a treat. and if you don't... well, sorry, cuz i feel like he's on screen for half the video AND he has last part. his skating is really floppy and i probably won't rewatch this part often

now we're in paris for roman and paul's parts. roman's part is sort of business as usual (nothing bad, just mostly expected) but paul fucking kills it. hope this isn't it for his career now that he's the TM, seems like he's just starting to really blossom
hjalte! probably the most "normal" part of the video, editing-wise, and exactly what you'd hope to see from him. loved the little jarmers section towards the end
if you guys like ville, you're in for a treat. and if you don't... well, sorry, cuz i feel like he's on screen for half the video AND he has last part. his skating is really floppy and i probably won't rewatch this part often
the end, then pontus has a clip, then it's over
did Jerome Campbell quietly retire or something?
Or did I miss something?
I think after “I like it here inside” . Or was that someone else?
They let most the og pro team go in like 2015ish. (Clip for comparison) https://youtu.be/LV8dn3Uv48U
As far as being too white, they're from northern Europe what are ya gonna do. Shins Japanese and boserio is maybe half Indonesian or something. Still not great.

Ok I talked to Pontus about it last night after watching it. It's a follow up to we blew it at some point if you watch them back to back it will make more sense. There is many tributes to old videos in it. I actually enjoyed it. Nick is possessed...he's my SOTY. Was excellent to see it on a cinema screen with a full house of skaters.
Looking forward to watching back to back with we blew it at some point. Also Salba! Don't think anyone yet has mentioned he has a trick in it.
Pontus as your gonna read this at some point thanks again for everything.
Pontus out here making sequels to his previous skate videos.. Is that an NBD? I really really wanted another Shin part but understandable considering he just dropped a solo Adidas part.

when the fuck are us unlucky people able to see it
I think it´s really cool to do premiers for a big video in this day and age but at this point the hype around the new Polar one already starts to wear off before I have seen it. Might sound stupid but this is how I feel about it. At least give us a date when it will be online.

It reminds of the past when I'd be aware that something like Virtual Reality was out but don't have a chance to watch it because my local was completely sold out. I would just wait around with that in the back of my mind until one of my friends or I would get lucky and get a copy whenever to watch. Otherwise, it was mostly forgotten.

thought the video was good. not as good as the last two polar videos, but i enjoyed it more than i expected to. great music supervision. really curious as to how pontus curated the footage for this. felt like a lot of stuff was really old, and there isn't enough footage of some people given the four year wait between videos. i also share the sentiment that having some people have parts versus some people with footage scattered throughout is kinda weird. dunno why he refuses to give oski a full part in any of these vids.
starts with a fast-paced malmo montage. shin's only footage is in here (unfortunately).
jamie has first part. didn't know what to expect but he's got good lanky style and all the london footage in here meshed well with polar's aesthetic. i'm a fan
kyle wilson has a guest trick, which is cool but also drives home how fucking white this company is
there was an LA montage at some point early on in the video. i don't really remember it.
i think there was a portland montage with some of oski's best clips at that DIY bridge thing that segues into dane brady's part? it's short and sweet, gnarlier than his other parts and feels like every trick counts.

According to every demography study I can find Sweden keeps no statistics on race, but they do keep statistics on immigrant minorities and are pushing diversity that way. I'm not aware of any Iraqi or Somalian pros and those are their two largest ethnic groups, but considering that Polar has pros from Japan, Australia, the U.S., Sweden, Denmark, France, and the U.K. The majority of their riders are not from the brand's country of origin, which actually fits in with the national narrative around diversity.
There are probably larger differences in culture between those various countries than most parts of the United States and thus most brands.
So Polar is doing just fine and your hot take is really out of context.

My memory was everyone knew it was Tolkien the whole time so the joke is the audience is racist for thinking it was token. Anyway it's what I was referring to but I guess no one really watches south park anymore

For my rudimentary Internet research you´re both right, as you said it happened in a late season that I never saw it. I thought it was translation/dubbing change or something. Gotta see that episode. Also as english is not my first language I didn´t know the meaning of the expresion ¨token black¨
Anyway, for whatever reason Ibu will be a good addition, also he have a daugther so I think a Polar check won´t hurt.

It’s not but people saying THEY NEED TO HAVE A BLACK GUY, is tokenism. Maybe they just don’t have a black guy in the immediate crew. Forcing diversity is reverse racism and oddly enough is usually some white person pushing it.

Seems like you're taking it personally you didn't get invited to the premiere KEEN had in Los Angeles.
Most shops are having a premiere this Saturday in Los Angeles, either just DM them to confirm or wait until they post a flyer on their Instagram page. This imaginary shade is all in your head
Also absolutely love how Polar have rolled out this video. Touring the video, meeting fans, doing demos, etc. The effort is seen. I can't remember which shop it was, maybe somewhere on the east coast, a few years ago they made a Instagram post how much they appreciated a team coming through and showing their video, and having all the guys meet the kids, and what that resulted in (their shop selling out of that companies product) and the importance of it and how it shouldn't be lost.

not shade at their stockists if they don’t either. Took me two clicks to find a shop in Los Angeles County that is having a screening.

loved it. Nick is definitively a mad man. so crazy.
Ville's ender was fucked.
Props for having name cards at the beginning of each part - i really miss them these days. Dunno why so many brands decide to omit them.
Naked raygun was also a nice touch.
all in all: great video.
-
I love the way Nick pushes like a madman after every land. Having the Tetsuo the Iron Man soundtrack in there was dope as well
-
loved it
-
Do all Phillip Glass songs sound the same? The one they use here sounds like the one that AVE skates to in ‘…Thin Ice’ but with words.
-
Everyone was great. Nick, hjalte, Emile, and ville we're the standouts for sure. What pants does hjalte have on at 38:56? I assume Carhartt, but what fit/material?
-
fantastic, lot's of standout moments here. will be on repeat.
-
Cant believe he used U-Zig. Never thought I'd see that in a skate vid.

can’t wait to actually watch this. the “premier” i attended was so ass, they showed it on one 40 inch flat screen tv at the bar with no audio like it was a college football game

What makes you so sure of that?
Does Pontus know about the G&S vid? Certainly. Is this a way of evoking his nostalgia from when he was younger in skating? Maybe. Is it a direct reference? Perhaps. But most people definitely dont know about Footage, and I think you can evoke similar nostalgia by choosing more original music, so I’m torn about it. So many song ABD’s lately, I’m not a fan of the trend even if I like this new Pontus video.
-
Herringtons the best.
-
lil ugly mane song was a nice surprise
I was so stoked on that! I wasn't sure what to expect from this video after the mixed feedback on here, but this was so sick. Roman came through with one of my favorite parts. Him and Grund have some of the best pant games too.
-
Thought it was great. Boserio, Dane Brady, Aaron Herrington. 3 dudes really pushing grinding on things that shouldn’t be grindable.
Whoever said they had unimpressive stuff might not actually skateboard. Music was cool. Paul Grund brought it down the pipe too
-
A masterpiece.
Maximum rewatch value.
I was on the edge of my seat.
10 out of 10.
-
Gonna watch it at work tomorrow but sounds like guys crushed it
-
being the way this board can be im suprised no one brought up the issue of uglys song cause of antwon.
loved the vid.
Interesting pontus using the oski audio clip he did about emptying his bank account on lurpiv.
-
I can’t believe how good that was what the hell
-
wow that was absolutely incredible. top tier everything
-
That Nick Boserio part is the coolest part I’ve seen in a longtime. Dane Brady’s blind bump to blind bump was sick as fuck. Hjalte has the best pop shuv in skating. Strong contender for video of the year
-
Noseslide then boneless line was the filthiest grom shit. Is Emile like a new Lennie Kirk as far as fucking rawness

Ok where the fuck can I buy an Emile Laurent deck.

Yeah he fucking killed it. Is he even pro? I don't recall ever seeing one of his decks and he's been on the team for awhile now.

-
Watching it now. The song Paul Grund skates to sounds like some shit a Dragonball Z character would scream to while charging their ki.
Edit: Just finished, very good vid all around. Easily Aaron Herrington’s best stuff.
-
Really stoked on the Naked Raygun song. Ville, Aaron and Platt were the stand outs
-
Paul Grund looks a lot younger with hair. For a sec I was like "who's this new kid"

In 2016 I was going through an injury and a personal rough patch. Every day I would watch I like it here inside my mind and that video holds such a special place to me as it is so creative and it made me realize how much skating was the best thing on earth.
Knowing that this is available to watch makes me happy. And it will make me happy for years to come
-
on my second viewing
the fact that every clip in this video was worthy of sporting caution hands yet there’s not one example of it makes me love this even more
every fucking clip was great, them quartersnack boys got their hands full this week

I also was going through a rough patch around that same time, and there was something so truly magical about that video. While that magic can never be recaptured, I think the spirit of that time continues to live on. Few companies, if any, can say that.
It will be very interesting to see where Polar go from here, with Pontus being more hands off, and this being his last video. I think the Polar of late is a very different beast, and I've personally had mixed feelings about where the brand is going, but I think this the dawning of a new era.

Jfc dude he literally references “g&s footage” in the music credits, so yes it’s a direct (credited) reference.
“So many abds lately”. It’s a song from a 30 year old vid. I think the statute of limitations are up on “abds”

Showing the Paul Grund half cab crook back 180 out on that French curve ledge twice was an odd choice (or possible mistake) and reminded me a of a homie video we made when I was younger and we accidentally used a line twice in my friends part. It was a good line tho.

Ellington feels from Wester - aesthetically and also skate style.
what can you say about Emile Laurent? Absolute nutter!
I liked this vid but Nick Boserio maybe trying too hard to be 'a maniac'?
Lots of hugging and inane grinning. Polar always has a weird,
seemingly forced comradery thing going on imo.
-
There's so much I loved about this video.
The way that personal parts felt more concerned with being local, than focused on the skater itself, is rather genius, if you ask me. So for instance when Hjalte and Ville have parts its about them knowing how to skate Copenhagen, and the other riders can visit them. The same thing goes with the tour clips - it felt like an actual team being on a holiday together.
Stuff like that makes it a much more interesting viewing experience, if you ask me!
-
I love the way Nick pushes like a madman after every land. Having the Tetsuo the Iron Man soundtrack in there was dope as well
When I saw his children I got this image that they just pushed right out of the delivery room after being born.

probably my only gripe. hate seeing my favorite skaters footy sprinkled throughout; basically forces me to watch the whole vid which i would rather not do. should be together for easy sorting/skimming.
that said this video has top notch skating and a great team. probably great for the kiddos to kill 45 whole minutes.

i could watch aaron ollie bump to bars all day - dude is peak style for me
street oski was a standout too.
Jamie's 360 flips are burly. His spots were creative and beautiful too.
Shin's giant backside ollie on that sculpture had a shocking amount of pop - kinda like his noseblunt from the previous polar vid.

To be honest, from some of the reviews on here from the premier, I had pretty low expectations but really enjoyed it. Not my favorite Polar video of all time (the original promo will always be my favorite (not including SOTS/ISOTM)) but really good all around, loved the tribute credits as well. Pontus always does a good job of curating videos with a cast of relatively underground and/or semi-local to Malmo skaters, which I've always really enjoyed and have been really impressed with their skillsets. Pontus will always be one of my favorites, SOTS and ISOTM had such a big impact on me growing up, especially the former, so to continually receive something new from him is a treat to say the least. I'm a fucking fanboi who wears surf pants and big boys, what can I say?

I thought the same, crazy how that dudes skating has just been a steady upward trend for the last 10 years. just keeps getting better, not levelling off at all

Really? It's just different variations of 50-50's, board slides, front shoves, and bump over bars & wallrides. The Thunder part, Chapter One, his last Polar were all similar. He's capable of so much more.
Definitely enjoyed it more on the second viewing. Also realised the cinema I had watched it in had botched the ratio aspect somewhat and it didn't quite fit to screen, and some footage seemed cut off.
Emiles footage was even better than I remember. I hope he stays 5 foot 4 forever.
Does Tao take over now from Pontus in handling all edits? I think he'd be the rightful heir.

Overall I'm torn. There was good skating in it but the editing really made it feel less cohesive. I think Pontus overthought it. Nick's music did not match his part and a few of his best tricks were not even in his part. Same with Emile- just didn't really feel like it was edited all that well. Ville's music sorrrrta fit but maybe not for his part. The montages could have stayed but maybe less spread out. The GX vid had a similar flow, but for whatever reason it kind of worked better because there was usually a theme to those sections.
Not bad, not great- some parts to rewatch. While some of it was filmed during Covid a bunch of parts felt like filler or b roll from certain dudes. I think Pontus got into his head too much and it affected the execution.
-
didnt read any of the comments on this thread, but i thought this video was kinda basic and didnt live up to the hype
we blew it at some point grabbed my attention at the start with a minute long line. it was like a narrative, it would tease dane brady as a mysterious cool guy. Every skater had something unique about them. The parts felt actually segmented and like a unique story.
this video just felt flat. the parts just flowed together and didnt feel different from eachother. The tricks didn't have a vibe to them, they werent special to what new york kids have been doing in the last few years or made me think or rewind (why tf were there so many slow motion replays?). It also didnt have a good variety of transition and street
kinda upset, waited so long to be let down

Loved the whole thing. Was super hyped on Emiles boardslide on that kinked double rail because he didn’t put his hands on the wall. I actually really liked how the editing was handled. Having tricks peppered into random parts gave it more of a team feel I thought.

Great video and definitely felt like a continuation of "I Like It Here Inside My Mind" but I have to say that I hated how people had parts but then had tricks sprinkled throughout the video. Would personally have had dedicated parts personally. Either way great video
Wish a lot of Villies sprinkled footage made it into his own part.
Great video, didn’t feel like 40 minutes when watching it
my feeling on this 'sprinkle' edit style has always been (similar to what you say) that it makes the video more dynamic and easy to sit through as a whole, but diminishes the individual impact of each clip and each part.
basically, it make the video cooler when you're actually watching it - but harder to recall and fawn over in your own mind later on.
i think in this case, the trade off worked out and pontus got it right. really liked it.

Cant believe he used U-Zig. Never thought I'd see that in a skate vid.
U-ziq also used in Lakai - Beware the Flare
a video that 3 people have ever seen
oh yeah a video that came out around the peak of lakai’s popularity featuring mike carroll, rick howard, pappalardo, rob welsh, mj and more is definitely something nobody has ever watched
Perhaps they were thinking of "the flare" that lakai full length from 2017??. My experience is also that literally everyone watched beware the flare all the time.
-
I've said it so many times, but we are in such an amazing era of skateboarding.
Don't know where to start with this one, but all I've got to say is in this era of no attention span, I sat through all 45 minutes without pausing. Enthralled.
Great skating, great music, great editing, great sound mixing. Good job everyone involved. I want to skate so bad right now.
Forgot to say great filming! There was a very utilitarian film style where they had two angles, one that really showed the spot and "why" the trick is impressive, followed by the other maybe more standard angle. This worked great, because many of these tricks wouldn't have translated to film well without those initial angles establishing things first.

didnt read any of the comments on this thread, but i thought this video was kinda basic and didnt live up to the hype
we blew it at some point grabbed my attention at the start with a minute long line. it was like a narrative, it would tease dane brady as a mysterious cool guy.
It also didnt have a good variety of transition and street
kinda upset, waited so long to be let down
gotta agree with this. ILIHIMM is a great, comprehensive portrait of the polar team; WBIASP is instantly evocative and pulls a lot of emotions out of the viewer without feeling cheap; this one is neither, just a pretty good skate video
It could also be it's less surprising each time around and becomes less impactful. I love polar but all three videos haven't done so much for me but I've watched strongest of the strange and in search of the miraculous a billion times so I already knew what I was getting into.
-
Another wonderful video from Pontus. Loved it from start to finish.
-
I liked it but didn’t love it. Wasn’t mad about using old skate song as a nod, they’ve done it before. Mixing the skaters up I think made sense because honestly putting all the footage in one part would have been underwhelming and over kill….they brought some of the newer guys forward which I liked even though I’m not actually bananas about them, and I finally felt not ripped off by the lack of Boserio footage. The post make push seems a bit much though… you gotta catch a bus? Wife in labour? Where you going? Just do a three flip like everyone else…
-
I finally felt not ripped off by the lack of Boserio footage.
That describes exactly how I felt about Roman's part. Always thought he was sick but could not think of anything recent he'd put out
-
Great video. Not my favorite that polar has put out but still a excellent watch. Shouts out to Aaron’s part, favorite of the video.

I love the push away. T Funk does it too, love it. Going fast is the best part of skateboarding... Might as well celebrate a sick trick with excitement and energy and going fast.
-
nah its the same as pushing into a hillbomb, douchey and show offish
-
I already have a signature three giant tic tacs after making most of my tricks….but why not add to it right?
It might though lead to the inevitable question of…..if you can push that hard….why not INTO the trick?
-
nah its the same as pushing into a hillbomb, douchey and show offish
This take is shit but I respect that you even put it out there
-
ville is fucking incredible.
-
Was good. Kept my attention unlike most longer vids.
-
Great vid but so many clips deserved better filming.
You can't wave an HVX with a fisheye around like it's a VX with a deathlens and zooming makes it harder to see the actual tricks/spots.
Boserio is a madman.
that's the main thing I concluded too after 45 minutes, was that the fisheye is a little too active. some tricks are kind of a blur.
also thought some of the song choices were interesting and maybe didn't work well for me first time around, but that's how i felt about the limosine videos music and they sort of grew on me.
-
Loved the vid. Very curious about the 'Jamie Platt is now pro for Polar skate co' on the side of that bus, does anyone have any insight on that? I'm assuming it was just edited in but would be very hyped if not. Also one time Boserio focused my board.
-

I forgot to go back and check properly but I think there's a couple frames where it's not perfect/you can tell it's edited in

upon first viewing, imma go with this:
hjalte hjalte hjalte!
so sick. loved every clip of him.
others had good stuff to. but i will have to rewatch it a couple of times.
immediate stand-outs for me were hjalte, roman, and paul. super good video overall.

I'm sure they got a motion graphics person to go in an do it, I know the first Polar video someone was credited with the motion graphics in the video, probably the same person. Also theres a lot of motion tracking programs available now, someone with Pontus skill set could figure it out with a few tutorials, that stuff it's super hard it's just time consuming cuz you do it frame by frame, and there was probably 300 frames in that shot. The hardest part is to edit around the light pole thats in the way in part of the shot.
-
theres a tiny glitch on the sign, so yeah motion graphics is how they did it. Sorry for the smallest screen grab ever, you can only upload 127 kb

I really have to disagree with the people that don't like the sprinkling of the footage. I think it's rather genius for two reasons:
1) The way it was done, where it ties up to the geographical location of the skater, whose part is currently playing, is a great idea, in my mind.
2) More importantly - we live in an era, where YouTube logic really pushes the individual parts at the expense of the full length movie. Therefore I think that editing a movie with the intent of it being watched in its entirety is a rather bold move these days, and I think Pontus succeeded very well with it.
Also: Hi GAY :) missed you!

Anyone know if the opening/hjalte 2nd song has been used in a movie or something or is it just giving those vibes or I'm just going crazy?

Think I'm just going crazy. Could imagine it as the ending of an 80s movie or something but seems it was only released in 2013.
Could also picture it in an 80s scene kinda like 15:35 but not really https://youtu.be/Zs10Bd2zh8U

Has maybe been discussed already: what are those god awful legenadary-tier shoes Emile skates in his first clip, the double set ollie to frontside flip?
Is he in jail in Portland now? After this heavy coverage in the vid would be a good look for Pontus and Nike to bail him out and give him the career he deserves. His presence electrified the video.

Polar already bailed him out before the Euro premieres even started which is how he was able to attend some of those.

I don’t think Emile was ever “on” Nike. He just skates in Nikes.
They definitely aren’t paying his bail

Oh yeah it's also funny they took their image from that movie for this team/company altho originally it was supposed to be mumfords. (but he bailed to do legacy, which funnily enough I think also had some iron eagle type imagery). Funny thing with kiss too is they have a different logo in Germany (I think other parts of Europe too) so even after their Jewish members not knowing better that should of been a pretty big sign to maybe just alter their logo a bit. Wellll it’s the name/font of the kiss cover band in Detroit rock City, so in their eyes it’s the Kiss “S”. Kiss is literally rocking the SS and they’ve got at least one Jew in their band who should know better
Unrelated watched newest EP of walking dead and there's a little recap of old stuff and guys clearly riding a moto with an ss logo. He's meant to be the main good guy and all.
Is it Darryl? I think he started off that way or maybe it was his brother. Still surprising to see
Yeah Daryl. You'd think they'd just cover it up with a little VFX or something. Can't remember where he got that exact bike from maybe it's his og maybe from the saviours. Loud fucking bike is one of the many things that doesn't really make sense in that show but now I'm really getting off topic lol
I’m not into zombie stuff at all. Has anyone ever explained why they don’t just trap them all in the Grand Canyon
I'm neutral to zombie stuff but have somehow watched it (prob missed a ton of eps here and there) and basically it's just because they need the show to work. There's zero consistency or even logic to most scenes. It's basically whatever they need to happen in a scene is what happens.
Hold a zombie at arm's reach easily and it doesn't do shit then two mins later a zombie literally rips a person in half. Uh oh a whole horde of zombies even tho we're literally in no danger and could just take our time and pick them all off one by one we better play leapfrog thru the entire deathpit. My guess with why no grand canyon is that it's set in Atlanta and Washington DC.

I just wanna chime in about the off topic zombie shit.
I never understood how the zombies would only rot to a certain point. A large portion of time has elapsed so they essentially should have disintegrated by now, or at least have been devoured entirely by flies. Their limbs are brittle enough to break, yet they can munch into flesh or grab ahold of living entities without compromising their “bodies”.

Gene Simmons (Chaim Witz) was born to a mother who survived several years of internment at Auschwitz before repatriating to Israeli. Sensitivity to these things uses to be much different; no one used to believe that seeing a single S drawn in the style of the SS would trigger some sort of Manchurian candidate antisemitism.

Daryl was definitely associated with Neo Nazis and racists early in the show as part of his backstory. Obviously he turned around and corrected his mindset but it’s kind of part of the lore that his bike has that SS. Not that I’m defending it, just don’t see why they’d cover it up. Sorry for continuing this Walking Dead conversation lmfao

a picture of a team full of legal dwarves turns into political correctness. the company is/was named mystery with a broken heart as the logo, they’re fucking stupid don’t look too hard into it

i have a suspicion that this is edited using content-aware scaling or something. i think there's too much whitespace up top. i hope it's totally real though

aren't shadows longer than their actual knees ?
imagine a team of Adrian Lopez sized guys

I guess stallion is a Shetland. Did he maybe have one of the shortest skate careers? Reminds me add Devine to the list.

Far as I remember this is not the real one but an ever so slightly exaggerated one made by a pal. But the legs in the original weren't much longer

I was thinking that too, I don't think anyone has mentioned it in this thread, but yeah no idea, he was even on the world tour.

Finally had the time to sit and watch it this weekend with my girl. We both loved it so much. Lil ugly mane got me so hyped when started playing. Everyone killed it. Soundtrack was amazing. Also great video to have sex while watching.

that was a really proper video. full parts. people's names on the screen. more of that.

Except if you watch the video, the format is a huge montage, name pops up, and it goes back to being a montage? couple exceptions (Ville, Hjalte, Jamie) but almost everyone's footage is spread throughout. Agreed on it being a good vid tho.

isnt it more like montage - name pops up - mostly that guys part - guest tricks - montage - name pops up - mostly the next guys part? and most of the montages are related to a particular city? and in most cases the city montage is loosely based around the city where the 'main' skater from that part is from? kind of a loose definition of 'proper parts' i guess but still more proper than most videos lately
ill watch it again eventually, ill admit i only wacthed once

To add to the Walking Dead’s flawed zombie logic…I never understood how natural disasters wasn’t a more used plot device.
Ideally hurricane induced winds and flooding in the Southeast would wipe out most of zombies in a couple years.

I guess they can just say it doesn't destroy the zombies brain so the floods and hurricanes just kill more humans, creating more zombies and move zombies around. Altho as seen a million times on the show you barely have to touch a zombies head (or even regular human head half the time) to destroy a skull.

i never watched walking dead but i just watched 'return of the living dead' over the weekend and it was sick

I've watched it all the way through twice. I think it's my favorite Polar video.
