For those of us unfortunate to have to drive, it involves frequently looking at these little totemistic images that people put on their vehicles. Maybe I’m just a weirdo but I sometimes think of how bizarre some of them are, notably:
-“YETI” stickers. This person feels the one piece of information the greater society needs to know about them is that they really like slightly over-priced, insulated drinking cups. Why?
- Anything related to the beach, “Salt Life”, OBX or the like. This person has the very unique character trait of liking to go on vacation and the world must know.
-Stick figure family. On one hand, it is endearing and meaningful that the most important thing in this person’s life is the love for their family, but it can also read as some sort of fertility resume.
-Apple stickers. This person owns a nearly ubiquitous piece of consumer electronics. They need you to know that they know all about apps and shit, just in case you thought maybe they didn’t.
-13.1 and 26.2 stickers. Might as well say “Fuck you, fatty”

There’s a dad at my kids school who drives a giant lifted truck with a giant blue lives flag and two blue lives stickers on each side of his back window. The other day he was wearing a blue lives tank top and hat.

Lately for me it’s been the colorful mountain ranges. It’s a new trend meant for a water bottle but people are putting em on their cars and they’re too small. It’s so oddly disproportionate.

Stickers on cars has been a hard no for me for years. Just an advertisement for how much of an idiot you are 99% of the time. Saw two pro gun ones recently that stood out. The first said something like "If you believe that guns kill people, then pencils misspell words and cheeseburgers make people fat". Pure idiot garbage.
The second had an icon of a handgun and said "nothing in this car is worth losing your life over" to which I really wanted to write a note saying "You're 2011 ford escape isn't worth taking someones life over, you fucking loser." and leave it on their windshield.
Still remember one from years ago on some rusted out truck that said "Built with tools, not chopsticks." American cars are fucking overpriced garbage and have been for years.

That was part of the reason for making this topic to begin with. I think it’s weird too…. and a solid 98% are either boring or lame in some way, but I like trying to use them to glean information about the driver in front of me at a red light… I’m not really doing anything else and, you know, the unexamined life is not worth living and all that shit.
The more I think about the Yeti ones, the more baffled I am. I don’t know if it’s just around me, but I feel like they enjoy such a disproportional representation on the back of cars for what it is… it’s like having the sticker of your favorite vacuum cleaner or can opener on your car.

My old tech folk gentrified neighborhood is littered with this still. Subarus and 4Runners as far as the eye can see. Plus the local car wash is on the smallest lot but regularly has a wait time and the Starbucks drive through holds up traffic for three hours each morning. So I guess stickers are chill but dirt is unchill?
And I had sworn someone in this thread mentioned “mountains please,” but now I’m not seeing it. I don’t hate mountains or hiking but why the fuck are you advertising it?? You’re not alone or unique!
