Title: Cigarette Smokers
Post by: ok boomer on November 03, 2022, 06:35:30 AM
Any other smokers up in harr? I've smoked on and off forever, but it's one of my favorite things. My wife hates everything about it, but it's my jam. I smoked Marlboro reds for most of my "career", but I'm now on those blue American Spirits, which my millennial co-worker told me were "hipster cigs". Dunno any jive about that, but I like them. Marlboros started making me super dizzy so I switched to these mofos a few years back. I really enjoy the 5 minutes outside, alone, just gettin' my smoke on and peeping the world. And especially people watching while smoking is fun. My wife asked me what the best feeling in the world is and I told her "Skating in the fall - taking a break and smoking a cigarette while just chillin during a skate sesh". I realized later that this is not what she meant, but I was being honest. I have never vaped and I never will. Cigs 4 life (and deathhh)

I quit smoking long, long ago.  But when I did I smoked Parliament Lights.  I liked the recessed filter, and all the gas stations where I lived always sold them in buy 1 get 1, or even buy 2 get 3 packs.  this was back in the early aughts though when a pack was like $3.  Now I shudder at the thought of paying for that shit.

I'm on and off too. I can stretch a chunk of time between packs now. I last bought one two months ago. The craving pops up every now and then. I went two years without smoking before, then I got stressed and ran for a pack. Man oh man did that taste good. Well not the first one, that one made me cough up a lung but the second one, now that one was great.

When it gets cold out they just go so well with coffee. I can't help it. I'll go with American Spirits now as well. I used to like Camels but I swear they aren't the same anymore.

I wish I could quit you (https://1.bp.blogspot.com/_hMZm4_BV6dM/Sjkx9XqsQDI/AAAAAAAADxU/FiVHViBIl2w/s400/marlboro-27.jpg)

I've had success abstaining in the past replacing with vaping, and even quit all together for a year. I do enjoy it especially with a cup of coffee but I know I would be saving so much money and feeling a lot better if I could stop again.

Quit smoking a little over 2 years ago, smoked consistently from 16-31. didn't realize how bad it smelled until i quit.

Every once in a while if i'm out at a bar i'll bum one from a homie for old times sake.

Was at a pack and a half - two packs a day at the end and quit in January 2016 - thank god nothing stressful has happened since.

Once I reach old age I'm going back to the blue or yellow spirits and making up for lost time.

Anyway, I am thinking about taking it up.

Any recommendations on where and how to begin?

Been smoking a pack of Camel Blues a day since back when they were still called Camel Lights.

Probably gonna quit soon, too fucking expensive.

Exact same boat, same brand. You used to be able to import cartons of them from eastern Europe for like $25 but that's obviously a little difficult these days. They also didn't use the fire safety paper so they tasted like the old ones.

I'm ideally down to 3 a day - one with my morning joint/coffee, one at about 9am when I get my second coffee, and then one when I get home. I definitely sometimes cheat and smoke 2 in one sitting or find an excuse to have one and not count it.

Its getting to the point where I'm developing a smokers cough and wheezing if I push for too long and shit so I think it's time to stop but man I do still love it sometimes. I kinda think there's always going to be certain times I just have to have one... after good sex or a good meaty meal it almost seems rude not to light up and show how satisfied you are.

I go through phases but I’ve only been fully addicted one time when I was in Palestine.

Usually I’ll go through heavy spliff phases that are basically cigs with a hint of weed. Sometimes I’ll blaze through mole bowls like no other if I’m lazy.

Been off the bacco for a couple months, but I’m sure I’ll be back sooner or later

I've been on homie support with my mate who quit they day after his 45th bday last week. I forgot how fucking addictive they are. I stopped when I'm 25 and gag if it gets too smokie around me...plus here in France it's still a national past time to suck cancer sticks.
I won't even date a chick that smokes, it's like kissing an ash tray. Fuck that noise.

Cost of a pack of 25 cigs in Australia these days is around 50 clams. Them shits is taxed to high heaven. Between that and a guaranteed early grave, best to give them a miss. Smoking does look cool though, so, weigh up your options, kids.

I used to mostly smoke Djarum or American Spirit as well. When I was younger I really liked camels. Went for Marlboro red for like a year. When I was freshman in college I smoked Bugler cause it was all I could really afford. My buddy gave me some Samson for a while which was kinda like Bali shag but German and better. I finally had the juul phase and then quit nicotine altogether about 4 years ago. I still smoke herb and I really have a thing lately for the cbd hemp cigarettes. They make ones that look like American spirit and some have biodegradable filters. Big Chief and Chief Stix, wild hemp is not bad too. A pack lasts me like a month or so cause they are supposedly non addictive.  I really should quit though completely. My fiance hates it and says it makes me drool. I really had like a problem, but I really enjoyed it a lot. Plus I was sober for a really long time and smoking was at the time kinda part of the recovery culture. Happily moderately off the wagon but man.. I really need to avoid tobacco if I can. I was hooked like nobody's business

Smoke cowboy killers after 2 or more drinks, used to be a pack a day from 18-25 years old. Cigs are great and awful, too. Anybody else love to smoke endless cigarettes while high on mushrooms? I Jones pretty bad when I'm trippin.

I ran Newports pretty consistently from 19-34, but would switch it up every so often.  I quit smoking regularly a couple years ago but will buy a pack if I'm going out partying or know i/m going to be around a bunch of ciggy people, just to not be that guy who bums one off everyone...
I'll have a few and then leave the rest of the pack with a homie or put them somewhere a houseless citizen would be hyped to find them. Shout out to Menthols tho!
Damn now I want one...

I started smoking when I was 12 (29 now). By 18 I was a pack and a half to 2 packs a day. I smoked reds mostly then american spirit black packs, now I use a electronic tube filler to roll my own. In the past year I switched to using a Juul more heavily and now only have 4-6 a day. Im hoping to make the switch full time soon.

I tried many of the major brands after I moved into a place with a roommate who smoked light blue full flavor American Spirits. She needed the density which I understand makes them burn slower.
For some reason, any variety from them just tastes too dry and harsh... Those periques are gnarly.

I wouldn't call myself a smoker despite occasionally trying a different brand every few months for a couple years. It was mostly just experimenting with a vice. I couldn't reach a level of satisfaction with the flavor, they'd all end up tasting similar. Once I could feel the cravings creep I'd just bail the pack and stop for a while. But this was during a period I was most social, drinking regularly so there was always an excuse to try a new brand.

I liked TIME (https://www.blueskysales.com/site/product-images/760_main-001.jpg?resizeid=2&resizeh=600&resizew=600) and THIS (https://static.wixstatic.com/media/afa195_f4a15971c39f4c5692850abf93d4e478~mv2.jpg/v1/fit/w_500,h_500,q_90/file.jpg). Marb 27's are tasty.
The roommate had a couple foreign brands she squirreled away too, and these were most enjoyable. She brought back some Gauloises from France and Mevius from japan which use a charcoal filter.

I recently bought a few packs of Mevius from https://www.ciggiesworld.ch/ to gift for a smoker friend. If anyone's interested in trying foreign stuff I highly recommend the site. The shipping is not much of a factor since I paid maybe $45 total for 5 packs. Takes a little know how to send them money but their instructions are clear and they're pleasant to deal with.

I didn't really smoke for about 10 years, bummed the odd cigg from friends when out playing/going to shows and drinking but constant housing stress, removals of lockdown and general socializing got be back on the horse this year. Not much, between 1-4 a day. It still feels excessive but I like drinking a tea and having a smoke at night plus my new housemate basically chainsmokes so it's hard to avoid :(

I’m a pack of Mar Golds a day. I’m trying to quit with my newborn coming but it’s been so hard to take that step. Smoking is such a stress reliever for me. Work in a really stressful job for a company whose name starts with an A. It’s how I keep my sanity.

Used to smoke from 18-23 or so. Mostly in social situations, drinking or at college. Not sure if I was ever “addicted” heavily as I’d never really feel physical cravings or anything. Maybe would have 1-4 a day or something. Would definitely go through a pack on a busy weekend though.

Since then, I’d just bum smokes from friends. Yeah I’m that guy, but thankfully only a couple people I know still do it. I do miss it often enough though. Every once in awhile I’ll catch a wif and be tempted to buy a back but I know it’s best not to. The wife doesn’t seem down whenever I bring it up, but I’d love to have a pack in the house just for the odd occasion. But knowing me it would turn into a mild habit of a pack a month or something.

It looks pretty cool though. Anytime I watch a movie or see old photos where everyone’s smoking I get jealous I couldn’t live in the golden age where it was encouraged and everywhere.

What’s the deal with pouch tobacco, that you roll yourself. A friend was telling me awhile back it’s pretty clean and not filled with (as many?) chemicals.

i'm still smoking cigs from time to time, but electric cigs/vapes have been coming in hot lately because i can puff them at work and they actually taste pretty good. i can't deal with a lone cig unless i have a complementary beverage like beer or coffee. still need that nicotine to not be a nervous wreck.

Smoked from 16-25. Camel Turkish royals were my shit. Pack to pack and a half a day. Quit for vaping due to some lung issues. Then went to lozenges and gum for a solid year and a half. Started dabbling back into vaping and what do you know I’m regularly vaping again.

Nicotine really is a bitch sometimes. The one chemical I’ve yet to ever quit fully. I still have a few cigs a year though. Sometimes they just hit so good (especially with beers) it seems hard to give up entirely

I was a smoker back in the days whenever I drank 2-3 beers but never was fully into it. But sometimes I just had a craving for nicotine that's why I started using snus, which is really popular in Europe. I go through a can a day, get all the nicotine that I want and don't sacrifice my lungs to it.
Some days ago, I bummed a cigarette off a friend and after smoking I felt physically ill, even until the next day.

Been a smoker (15+ cigs a day kinda thing) for the last 4 years.
I had smoked on and off in high school than never again till I was 26.
I think it was mostly due to work stress and worked well with the meds I was on. That and having Lithuanian coworkers selling me boxes for £35.

Early in the summer I started to cut down to 10. Now I’m at like 5 cos bar when I’m working I just roll a J instead and doing that actually halved the amount of cigs I smoke cos I associate them with hash.
So only the breakfast / lunch / dinner cigs remain.

I’m still not at the level I’d like to be but I need to keep PMA and don’t be a dingus.

I will either come out clean or go nuts from chem imbalance while trying and back to 15 a day.

Nicotine is literally insane. Wish you guys luck.

EDIT: FWIW when I was buying cigs I was smoking way more than with baccy. I could buy a pack of Marlboro light go to a club for like 2.5 hours and that shit was dust. Stupid fucking bs.

Quit 2011 I think.  If you smoke, don't fuck around.  Make sure you have tobacco. And don't reward yourself with cigarettes.  Just smoke one every 45 minutes or so.  That way when you go to quit (what you should do eventually), you won't have built up weird complexes and rationalizations.  Quitting for me wasn't shit.  But I read the book by Alan Karr. The Nic industries wants you to think that quitting is nearly impossible but that's hardly true.  The only reason people smoke is cause of the mildly addictive nature of nicotine, smoking is not a pleasant use of your time.

The more times I tried to quit, the more when I started smoking again I smoked more than ever. Have been on a 40 cigs a day pall mall filterless or lucky strike kick past two years. Sometimes I roll my own but not often. When I drink I'll smoke 60 to 70 cigs a day.

Have been contracting switching over to chesterfields or Virginia slims though in an effort to give my physiognomy a break. Problem is then in no time I'll be doing fifty to eighty pall mall filterless a day. Whatever

Started around the age of 12. Got to a pack a day around 19-20. 21-27 I drank very heavily and did hard drugs and would go through1-2.5 packs a day. Calmed down on partying but still smoked a pack a day. Last year, at 38, I switched to Juul. If I know I'm going to be partying or my wife goes out of town and I feel like being a bad boi I'll buy a pack. Bought one Halloween weekend and it lasted me three days and I bummed a bunch out to friends doing similar habits.
Went from a pack a day for over 25 years to a pack a month at most.
Started on Old Golds. Winston reds and Newports through highschool. Switched to Winston lights when I moved out to Portland. Around 30 I was thinking about quitting so I started smoking PallMall blues because they were gross and for whatever reason I thought that would make me not want to smoke. After a while I couldn't stand smoke anything else.
Now for the occasional party pack I  get the dark green(menthol) Spirits.

Smoked cigarettes from 18-24. I was interned at a hospital for a week due to lung issues and that's when I had to stop. It was actually easy like I didn't even try to quit. I just didn't feel like smoking all of a sudden. In my head was like an habit instead of an addiction so maybe that helped.

The only tobacco that I smoke now is in my spliffs

They do look cool I give you guys that!! But I don't miss that morning cig that got me all woozy and ready to take a shit

i feel like a lot of us have tried this "i'll just smoke the most disgusting cigs and that will make me quit" strategy and subsequently got hooked on those disgusting cigs. i would be hooked on gitane and really no one wanted to smoke them. those must have been the harshest cigs i've ever had. the thing is also you want to stop and give them away, but when you smoke those harsh offbrands, you just end up with more cigs to yourself cause no one wants them. when i started, blue gauloises were the go to pack for most. those were pretty tough actually. i'm sure we smoked them just because those were the heaviest to our knowledge. nowadays whenever i become weak and get a pack i usually get marlboros reds or american spirits(they must be different here now because they smoke like normal cigs, not packed that tight so you can't take a drag anymore).

the worst shit you can smoke is some kind of full zware super dark rolling tobacco. that's like an instant shit after the first drag in the morning.

I've quit twice.  It was mainly about the money for me, but the first time I quit it was partially due to smoking the cheapest cigs I could find.  Wranglers and Santa Fe's were like a $1.25 at the time.  Truly disgusting cigs, that used cigar paper I think to try to cover how shitty the tobacco tasted.  Native's(some reservation brand) were a dollar more and way better if I could get them.  Anyways the first time I quit I was pounding bottom shelf whiskey and chainsmoking santa fe's and just got extremely sick.  The thought of smoking those things really put me off after that night.  I quit entirely shortly after.  If I had the money to keep buying good cigs regularly I probably would have kept at it.

As far as my favorite cigs and shit.  Old Gold Reds were my main cig.  Grizzly straight and Redman for chew.  I'm really glad I don't chew anymore.

I quit while in NZ for a while. When I got to NZ in 2008, they were 13.50 a pack. Now keep in mind, I just left the US where I was paying $2.35 a pack. I smoked them at $13.50 the first 4 years I was in NZ. I cut down to like 7 a day to make it last longer. They kept going up and up, I think I stopped at $16.50, by the time I left I believe they were 18.50 a pack, which was pissing me off. When I visited NZ in 2019, I think they were 35 a pack. Apparently, NZ is going to semi ban smoking... I believe by 2025 (WEF style) you can't buy cigarettes if you were born after 2004. Anyway, when I first moved back here in 2013, I was paying like $5.50 for american spirit light blues, now they are anywhere between 8.50 and 10.50 depending on where I go. My son finally busted me smoking (he's 8 and just seen this) and is on my case to quit.

Those blue spirits are great, been into them for a few months. I always have a pack but only smoke when drinking or out skating.

Gawdammit you’re gnarly, and I respek it.
In my prime I smoked 1 pack of Newports over a 2 week period once or twice a year.
Regular being Camel Lights (1/2 a pack a day for most of my career), Blues for you newbs…

I miss it but coming up on 3 years of none. Anytime I see a Lynch movie, clip or read about him I get a burning desire to smoke. However now that I’m a father & I generally work directly with kiddos, I can’t imagine carrying the scent of smoke. I did tell myself before I die, I will break sobriety & have a glass of wine & cigarette.

Since my dad's passing in 2015 I've quit smoking and it's been the best choice I've made.  I miss it last time I had an urge I smoked a camel wide and barfed and haven't smoked since.

To me it stinks and I can't breathe when I'm at shows or a neighbor is smoking. I miss it but it's a fleeting feeling.

I never smoked cigarettes as such but did not realise how addicted to nicotine I was through smoking spun weed.

I quit buying tobacco for my weed in 2020 after about 10 years.

I LOVE smoking though. If I did start smoking cigarettes, I would smoke so much. Smoking is a great meditation for me; focused breathing, having a moment to myself, not talking - I wish it were good for you.

I feel this so hard.
Well kinda. It’s been about 12 years since I dropped it.
Deal with the wife was that I’d quit when I want (she binge smoked, but bitched about my daily habit) or when she got pregnant. Then soomebody had to go and get themselves knocked up, so I quit (Yes, kid is mine). I missed/craved it for so long, then that went away; then I wanted to want to smoke.
Nowadays I enjoy a tinge of secondhand smoke, or might actually smoke one if I’m SUUUUPER wasted, but that’s been a minute.
Watching someone enjoying a solo cig takes me back and wish I could too.
Fuckin coffee and cigs for breakfast, mmmmmm….

I smoked for 15 years. I rolled my own ones also, but my wife pissed me off to quit it. To be honest, it's a damn hard task for me. I switched now to Zyn. Is anyone here also on it? Some opinions?

I buy zyn online (https://thevaporshoppeusa.com/products/zyn-nicotine-pouch) from here. Someone told me it's the best to use. Any other recommendations?

I smoked in my 20's, then found chew (was a chef, never had to leave the kitchen!). I quit a few times with nicotine gum, and have now found myself steadily on the ON nicotine pouches. They're much smaller than zyn, and cheaper.

I've quit nicotine for a year or more numerous times, but a moment of weakness (one chew, one cigar, etc) always draws me back in.

I used to smoke out of boredom but pretty much stopped by 21. I bought a pack once, when I got the urge years ago and wasn't into it after 1. A few years ago in my early 30s hanging out with old friends and social smoking for a couple months, if that and nothing after. Then last year out of nowhere formed a habit in a single night. I blame it on watching too many interrogations of Russians and watching Sopranos for the first time (Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in). I quit for a month a couple times and again soon after would pick it up, and even seeing my cardio get worse on my apple watch. I never focused on the actual effects of nicotine before that to be honest, and it was the first time I ever was smoking out of stress, on my lunch, craving it all day. That shit is no joke. It's been just over a month but I've moved and I can't be smoking around the people I'm with and am not dealing with as much stress. I still think about it sometimes but the cravings are greatly reduced for me after a couple days and not bad at all. Even when I got horrible fucking sick with covid I was burning those mother fuckers. Fuck that bitch ass nicotine.

Here in Minnesota, I can't get it in Bloomington but Eden Prairie is just 4 minutes away and they supply menthol. I have a feeling they're going to try to ban it statewide eventually.

Smoked for about 10 years straight. Started on Black & Milds, and then progressed to Newport Red Shorts because they used to be super cheap. Eventually they ended up being more expensive than Marb Reds so I switched to Marb. Last cig I smoked which was about a month or so ago was a Lucky Strike red, which are very similar to Newport Reds.

Most of the homies back then smoked though. We’d all be bumming off each other based on who had the most full pack. Cigs I liked which I never bought myself were Yellow & Teal American Spirits & Camel Turkish Blend. If we were stuck out in the boonies at a party and I was all out one of the homies would grace me with an L&M or a Pall Mall. Not my preferred choice but when you’re drunk and want a cigarette you’ll smoke anything.

I’ve quit smoking and picked up a vape a few times. I prefer the cig, but it’s much easier to vape at work and at home.

Smoked Marlboro 27s/Camel Reds for 10 years and once I moved to a state where they are $12 a pack, switched to RYO or PYO cigarettes until I finally made the switch full-time to the vape (yes I'm aware I look like a total ass-clown, but have a small, discreet refillable unit just so I'm not walking around with this giant tank mod puffing big clouds like a choo-choo train). It's been probably 5 or 6 years since I had a legitimate pack cigarette but lately the Marlboro Man and Joe Camel have been tag-teaming my mind, telling me how delicious it would be to have an actual cigarette with a cup of black coffee or espresso (shots of heroin or cocaine are just out of the question these days). I feel like one of these days I'll break down and buy a pack for the nostalgia of it, plus cigarettes make you look cool as hell.

I haven’t smoked since the day my son was born. I held him and realized my shirt just smelled horrible. Quit on the spot.  But I really really miss rolling Js with my blue Spirit loose tobacco.  7 years later and I still feel some kinda way about it.

I recently quit smoking cigs at the beginning of the year and it's been one of the best things. I had to vape for awhile to ween myself off and now I've essentially quit vaping and starting using Zyn's. Toothpicks help with the oral fixation as well. Feeling pretty healthy lately and noticed that I've had more breath and an easier time breathing lately. Would recommend Zyn's to anyone who is trying to quit. Eventually I want to quit those as well but not rushing myself as everything takes time but happy to be making some progress

I feel this deeply, I use to smoke when I was 13 and it was on and off here and there it wasn't till 20's that it was a habit. The weird thing is when you get around people who smoke or anything that's awful for you and you break away from it there's a realization that why'd you start in the first place..... Same thing with drugs and drinking for me, I was just trying to be numb and cool without reading between the lines.
