Welp, just watched the new Louie part..... That didn't age well.
Louie for SOTY. That part was fucking perfect. When you talk about different skaters strengths/weaknesses Louie needs to be known as the dude with the most PERFECT fucking trick selection. Tech, but tasteful, and he goes big with simple tricks and great style. Like others have said, tfunk will have his time.
This year belongs to Louie.
They put way too many people on these lists. Give us the real list then maybe an honorable mention list.
Louie is in the top 3 for skater of the decade and has so much more appeal than Nyjah who has not skated this year.

Objectively, nyjah deserves it. If kyle walker got it in 2016 and jamie foy in 2017, then like it or not nyjah has to get it now.Phelps said it all comes down to repping the mag and I just can’t imagine Nyjah ever getting it given his persona. SOTY has changed over the years on how its awarded. I think BA just destroyed the Euro contest circuit in his SOTY year (Jump off a Building was in 98 and Modus was 2000), and did Rowley drop anything in 2000 (Obviously, all the footage likely went to Sorry). Now, they easily could have had interviews/cover's that year which likely mattered way more back then even if the tricks weren't shown on video yet. In the past decade, it's probably AVE with just the Vans part and tricks in Boys of Summer. I feel it was around 2013 or so when Ishod dropped like 3 parts, then Wes won the next year with like 3 parts, that having a ton of footage throughout the year became the norm. This is a tight race, maybe memory is failing me but felt like the last few years were only 2 skater races and we all knew who would actually get it (suciu and silva).
tyshawn had some insane skating in his parts but withnbim being a previous winner and having more cult support than widespread support for soty i think its not his year.
nyjah's parts would make him a shoo-in for soty if he wasnt nyjah. his style and 90% handrails and stairs skating might dock him points but if this was street league style judging hed win by a landslide. he is the uncool pick which thrasher under phelps wouldnt pick but who knows, nyjahs marketing reach is wide. also a lot of footage is a couple years old so who knows if that matters
Tfunk is the wildcard, most hellride and unhinged parts, embodies classic thrasher. less total minutes of footage but its all killer no filler. redoing the sw hillbomb and ender in the last part is mental. china banks ollie gives a lot of points but hard to put him over the other skaters output this year.
louie would be soty most other years with what hes done. hes who im rooting for but i think all deserve it. what i think hurts louies chances is lack of a big memorable trick. he does some nutty shit that i love and will remember but i gotta admit its a step behind a subway kickflip, nyjahs clipper tricks + ender, or tfunks china bank ollie.

Abso-fucking-lutely, and it's because his execution is so good that they look easy for him. When you see that vs tfunk whos flying around, hanging on by a thread, im sure a lot of people dont quite fully grasp what louie just pulled off so gracefully.
Trick selection needs to be brought up whenever talking about louie, and that last part was a demonstration of PERFECT trick selection on his part. It's very hard to be tech and tasteful while also going big and executing simple tricks BEAUTIFULLY.

I'd assume Thrasher paid (and has hopefully enabled that restriction) since the free version limits a poll to 2500 votes.
Perhaps that setting will prevent your vote from being added to the total tally if you are using a cookie bypass or "something else" to allow multiple votes from the same IP. Yes, someone could totally wreck this poll if they use the right methods, so it probably shouldn't be too trusted as the people's vote.
Anyways, this is probably one of the toughest SOTY decision years I've ever paid attention to, so props to whoever takes it. T-Funk's part makes me want to skate, Nyjah's abilities are mind blowing, Tyshawn's pop is next level, and Louie's finesse can't be touched.
Hopefully we get to see one of those videos where a bunch of pros, ams, filmers, photographers, and industry people are asked who they think should take it this year.

I looked into the polling service being used by Thrasher and made my own poll. For the free version of it, all the votes have an IP (Internet Protocol) address attached to them.

It would be rad that, if whomever wins, they all go on a soty trip together. Can’t imagine them all skating together, let alone for multiple days, but that would be some top-notch ‘tent.
People are underrating some of Louie's bangers. That front feeble pop-over above the spiked fence is straight up death-defying, as was the footage from his cover. But the one that really stands out was the front shuv front nosegrind down that hubba in his last part. He brought some heat for sure.

nonetheless Louie looks like he was born on a skateboard and Tyshawn undeniably does not have that same quality. i like Tyshawn's style and think it's interesting and fun to watch but it doesn't surprise me that someone who doesn't really know much about skateboarding would look at it and think it looks a bit unnatural
