Just saw this browsing Instagram. Other than founding DC and racing rally cars I can't say I know much about him. I do remember he and Dyrdek tried to give a $1 million dollar check to Philly for Love Park and they turned it down. For that the dude earns my respect.

So weird to be a fan of motorsports while also knowing and respecting what Kenny B did in his time with DC. More then anything else, he helped make American rally into a greater thing then it could have ever been with his Gymkhana videos and his programs with Subaru and Ford. He added a skateboarding style to the motorsports world that will probably never be replicated at this stage.
Rallying's a small fraternity, and I don't think it is a stretch to say this is the hardest day for rallying since Colin McRae died.

gangsta boo, now ken block, 2023 is cancelled
-
Damn, that’s horrible, always seemed like a great, optimistic guy living life to the fullest.

RIP

RIP part of the golden era of skating- whether you knew it or not.

Gnarly. It is impossible to deny the impact DC had on skateboarding. Also, it is crazy to think how fast we can go from having it all to being dead.
Finally, DC offered Philly 1 million a year for 10 years and as far as I know not a cent of that was Dyrdek's money. It appears to be DC putting up the money, probably at the behest of Kalis and Williams.

Wow Jeremy Renner just got seriously fucked up in a similar way. Be safe out there on the snow, folks

Correct, I can't find the clip but I believe it was Block at Love with the big Check in his hands for a photo op.
-
Fuck, rip
-
Everything he touched, he made it monumentally better....Rally, Snowboarding, skateboarding..... no one elevated a brand like what he did to DC. Shoe money or board royalties? Which check would you rather take? He's the reason why....
-
Terrible news... life is short folks... enjoy it to the fullest extent
RIP Ken. Gone way too soon

RIP. At least he died while having fun.
Not really into cars or gymkhana but that one video filmed in SF where Phelps waved the flag at the end was cool.

Definitely agree. The footage they got all around the city was super dope. I am sure it is what Ty Evans wishes he could shoot.
-
Absolutely gutted, his part in DC MtN Lab 1.5 with the scoob at Snow park NZ is still etched in my memory.
RIP.
-
I was impressed by his gymkhana stuff and and thankful for creating DC, but he could have toned it down with his monster merch, image etc. RIP
-
Heavy news the legend Ken Block passed away from a snow mobile accident. Scary his latest insta story his snow related last adventure. Major DC player, think his post auto career more crazier . He released his driving parts like skate clips.
KB 43 4 Life

Yeah just heard about it and couldn't believe it
After I saw your post I went and checked his IG stories... truly scary this man was posting stuff 19 hours ago and now he's gone
Didn't know much about him besides the Gymkhana but he was a guest in a Ridiculousness show and he seemed like a really good guy
RIP
-
legend. rip.
-
What the fuck? I was just watching him on This vs That. Dude had life by the balls. Dub, Droors, DC. Think of all the guys he put on. Absolute machine. It's a trip how much safety equipment is standard now in car racing, and then on a snowmobile you're just out there. Be careful out there people.
-
Always heard good things about this guy. Shocking news. Positive vibes to his family. RIP Ken Block 43
-
I was going to go see him race rally this year in MN.
RIP to a legend
-
2023 already brings too many dead people :(
RIP
-
Such a shame.
But at least he lived life to the fullest.
-
RIP
I watched a few of the Gymkhana stuff with my Dad, so impressive how he could move a car like that.
I remember seeing him in my 2nd skate video On Video Summer 2000 in the Danny Way section.
-
Awful news
RIP
Droors will always be one of the illist brands in skating, will wear something Droors this week

RIP.
Seems like an all around great guy. Passed way to young, but it does seem like he lived life to the fullest and accomplished so much, which is a silver lining I guess.
-
Rip Ken
-
As much as a car stunt jockey as he was he didn't seem to foolhardy, on a few of his different shows he talked about how that Hoonicorn car was dangerous and scared him after they put the turbos on it, and that he had been fine with it the way it was before.
He's gotta be one of the only people in history that founded a company completely as a business person and then later became a premier athlete on the company. I think there's an interview where he said he wasn't as much on the business side cuz he was more valuable as an athlete to DC now.
-
He brought shoe money to skateboarding…..
-
I was in shock when I heard the news. RIP to a great one.
-
his funeral is going to be bananas.
with that said RIP
-
He somehow had the FACE of what someone who runs DC would probably look like. The facial hair and everything. He nailed it. Rest in Peace, man.
-
Horrible RIP

I never watched any of his driving stuff but holy crap... what a skilled driver

As cornball as DC has been at times, nobody can deny the impact that Ken had on skateboarding culture and within the industry. RIP Ken, I hope they have DC Courts in the afterlife.

Respect, worth the watch to realize what he was really getting into last year. Wild.

"i don't carry a gun, i drive. for 5 minutes, i'm yours. either side of that and you're on your own."
that was impressive and also that he got SF to shut down to facilitate it. spose the Covid sanctions helped.
This was filmed years before the pandy.

I can't overstate how much I don't care about intricacies of cars past the basics (i just want my car to be comfortable and big enough for my fairly tall self), nor about racing (bit of F1 here and there), but this was seriously impressive.
Plus, he's chillin-chillin in that cockpit. I'm feeling queasy doing 80mph on an almost empty freeway in a straight line, while this dude is chuckling to himself, drifting in front of a tram, going 120mph.
Anyway, he had huge (and positive) influence on skate culture through Droors/DC and seemed like a pretty cool dude for someone doing such jockish activity as those gymkhanas. Rest easy.

From 8 ball shirts and 40 ounces to king of the mountain. RIP.

There is a part where he is driving up a windy street which is on Vermont St. They have an annual Bring Your Own Big Wheel event there. That thing is tight and just to think Ken Block drifted those things takes some sort of skill that I definitely don't have.

I was in the right place at the right time and worked for Circus Distribution in their salad days. Droors, Dub, and DC all in one building. It was very cool. Ken was great, super focused and driven. To see what they built in real time was motivating. What a life he lived.
-
Steve Van Doren, Phil Knight, or Don Brown would NEVER shell out $1M to a city to legalize skating.
Whether it was charity or publicity, Ken Block & DC Shoes fought for the skaters. RIP

RIP, Block's impact on skating is pretty major and I hope that sometime soon there is a documentary or an article or something that really gives the historical perspective it deserves
that said, i'm kinda baffled about the whole turn toward motorsports. maybe i need to listen to the bomb hole interview posted above or something. my first reaction when i heard this news was like "of course the dude who sends turbocharged motorized thousand-pound objects hurtling through the air died in a snowmobile accident"
