good, right?
-
haha damn it would suck to try to make it in skating today
-
Nick Mathews is the man.
After watching the Interview of the scramblers he is what I imagine the average slap poster to be like
-
DLX needs to get Praman and Matthews names on some boards ASAP
-
Nick matthews is 100% going to be the next big thing in core skateboarding
-
Nick Matthews is obviously the truth. He carries himself like such a tough motherfucker when he skates, I think I’d be scared of him if I ran into him in public.
That being said, I know the AM scramble vids are supposed to be advertisements for these skaters but this edit is one of the most lazy corporate messes I’ve seen in a minute. Some of the song choices and random bystander clips were pretty embarrassing lol
-
Liked dylan outside of so cal
The spots in this were the real standout.
-
why is that girl even in the video ?
-
nick, patrick, max and dylan all stood out. its amazing how not being in so cal skateparks makes dylan's footage and skating so much more enjoyable, hes got a great sw 360 flip.
nick matthews really IS the truth, love his trick selection
-
Vitoria stepped it up!
Noah did not.
-
Vitoria stepped it up!
Noah did not.
fifty to tail was legit
-
why is that girl even in the video ?
She's in the video because she rips and has a good take on skateboarding. Why are you posting?
-
Nick Matthews is the fucking best, all his tricks were a stand-out.
Really liked Dylan Jaeb stuff too, which was kinda surprising, I think these clips and the interview completely changed how I view him and his skating.
-
when Dylan Jaeb's clips started popping up on IG, i think his natural abilities were pretty exciting to everyone and we were all kinda wondering whether it would translate to the streets, and initially, it kinda felt like it didn't really (his Primitive part was sorta underwhelming compared to what i think he's capable of), but his stuff in this was really impressive. as others mentioned, getting out of socal does wonders for making his skating feel more interesting. his big frontside flip and sw tre, kf back tail the wooden hubba/rail, some of his ledge lines, etc. all really sick.
Nick Matthews and Patrick Praman are two of the most exciting skaters out there right now for me and they really delivered here. Max went off too and Rob Pace's ability to grind literally any rail you put in front of him is kinda mind-blowing. Liked Brian Reid and Vitoria's clips a lot too! Even enjoyed Kieran's bowl stuff, kid is a natural on transition. Noah was the only person I felt like didn't really get that many notable clips
-
whole video was rad. these dudes went hard
-
Nick Matthews is one of those special talents that just has it all. Definitely stood out in the video as being in a league of his own.
-
I wonder if it was super annoying to hang out with all the 18 year olds for the few guys that are in their late 20s
-
Roll on grind kid is awful. What a waste of a car seat. imagine having to tour with him, wasting hours watching him drop in on a crusty hubba nobody else wants to skate because it’s not even a spot.
Nick, Patrick and Dylan clearly the standouts. The two Aussie guys were gnarly too.
-
some good skating & great spots. they all rip, i just feel like these have just gotten mellower & mellower since the beginning.
-

Idk about mellower. Just a different style crew that skates different shit besides just kinkers in some random burb. This was pretty fucked and there skating city shit. A lot of those spots are no fucking joke and robs Ollie into gov center triple banks is legendary.
-
Nick, Dylan and Patrick are so good.

I thought it was mellower at first but I think they just hit some different locations than usual. Still a lot of heavy shit in this. Could’ve done without Victoria’s stuff, very very basic trick selection. Nick Matthews, Praman, and Dylan were my faves.

Nah I think it’s definitely gotten a little mellower. It’s definitely because of how the skaters changed over the years but I think it’s cause the first one was that year of all rail chompers and Sinclair was running it so he took them to like all those super gnarly rural Carolina rail spots .
I don’t think vitorias footage was bad but the last few years they always add a girl for the diversity but they can barely skate the spots the rest of the guys do so they have like zero footage. They should just do two am scrambles. I’d be down to see all girls so they could focus on spots more suited them.
-
NICK
2 random chicago clips thrown in there, ready to buy that pro board when you are DLX
-
I wonder if Kieran Woolley was super bored most of the time being on a 99% street skating trip. Obviously he rips, but kind of a weird choice to throw in the mix as he's pretty limited getting clips for most of the trip.
-
DLX needs to turn pat and Nick pro today. Honestly surprised they didn’t just turn Patrick pro last week with the video knowing this was coming out. I know they have like 6 ams who’ve been on longer but real has always been weird like that .
-
Nick Mathews is the man.
After watching the Interview of the scramblers he is what I imagine the average slap poster to be like
I didn’t realize he was 27 already or that he was from Naperville
-
The chick is better than Nora, Lizzie, and most of the faces of women’s skating. Neither of them can do 50-50 tail slide etc. she is good she just didn’t shine in this.
I was underwhelmed by the whole thing. I wish they’d go to more than one city. How many days were they filming. Felt rlly weird and uninteresting in general. Felt like zoomer-y.
I echo whoever said what must the older kids felt like w the late teens early 20’s kids
-
I wonder if it was super annoying to hang out with all the 18 year olds for the few guys that are in their late 20s
I thought exactly that. It would have to be torture especially as Nick seems like a classic normal bloke and there's like goofy frog type kids.
Also did people just not see Vitoria bash the shit out of her head? You don't think that might be why she didn't get many clips on a few days long trip maybe?
-
Honestly, don’t care if someone isn’t as productive on these types of trips. Getting hurt or overextending yourself when you’re not capable of doing so (mental health or whatever). Also, being 18 and getting able to do a trip like this. Id probably do fuck all.
There were two to three dudes who didn’t deserve to be on this trip cause they already pro level. More like four? Matthews, Reid, Praman and Pace. Honestly the other Woolleytoo
-
I bet rob is pro within the next couple months, santa cruz doesn’t really keep people waiting. Also wouldn’t be shocked if dylan puts out a part and goes pro pretty soon
-
Why is Nick still am?
-

Normally I’d agree but he’s been so specific in his career lchoices this far I feel like he might actually take the time and do it the old school way . Which is kinda sick. I mean this is really his first true showing of actual up to par street footage and he hasn’t even settled on a shoe sponsor yet, I assume it’s Nike but then he’ll pop back up in vans or cons for a few clips again.
-
Fun watch. Jaeb switch tre was tight. Brian Reid has grown man stee. Max is next level. Nick’s line was sick.
Looking forward to the “Does a ledge that has angle iron installed on it count as a fake spot” thread.
-

Don’t disrespect the wasungu

Strange that Nick and Praman are still considered ams considering they released full length parts within the last year.

If you’ve ever been to that spot you’d know how fucked it is. Grinds can’t go down with out the angle iron and in Boston that’s considered a legendary spot. Coakley front nose grind over well over a decade ago. You wouldn’t even 5050 it. Trust
-
The first am scramble is still my favorite. I wish they'd do a pro scramble with that lineup even though 90% of the footage would probably just be Foy killing rails.

yeah honestly coakley’s 2009 nose grind is up there with the back smith and flip front 50-50 on that. That spot is so sketch
-
Might be wrong but I don’t think I’ve seen that hubba since WHL.
Age gap must have been weird on the sessions. Wasn’t familiar with Max but he’s great. Nick is too good for this and everyone knows it. I think Dylan is capable of grinding those ledge tricks a little longer, his jumping is amazing.
I think it was better than previous years, Boston was a great choice.
-
Im actually convinced at this point it wasnt Vices fault for what happened to kotr

Make Nick Matthews pro for Krooked. AH is too much of a legacy brand and most videos they put out won’t do him Justice.
-
if I recall, Dave Bachinsky had a trick at the spot Dylan frontside flipped. I think it may have been a hard flip?

I’d buy a Nick Matthews board. AH needs some new blood like him and the new kids in their latest vid.

when he pushes he doesnt speed up. it looks like he doesnt want to get to the next trick, and i hate it. hes cool besides that though
-
nick Mathews, josh Mathew, Andrew Wilson , josh Wilson, all the same people
-
Matthews one of the absolute best right now but AH still feels weird. Really doesn't strike me as the kind guy that likes to hang out with coked out bullies but I dunno. Don't get me wrong - I'll never not watch an Anti Hero video. But its pretty much established they are total cunts at this stage, right?
Also hilarious how brain damaged some of you freaks are by this "Culture War" bullshit. At this stage you can't even see any woman on a skateboard without throwing some bizarre manic shitfit. I thought the 50 to tail in particular was sick. You didn't? Ok, thats cool. Can't please everyone. Didn't she even brain herself on that tall out-ledge and have to go home? Didn't even get the full trip to film.
At the end of the day what point are you even making? It'd be better for you if she wasn't there? True weirdo shit.
-
I took count of how many clips everyone got.
I'm of the quality over quantity mentality however I thought it would be interesting to look at how everyones output compared to one another.
Lines and single tricks both count as one clip. Second angles, b-roll or slams don't count.
I counted Patrick's sw heel into the pillar. Anything after Max's ender doesn't count.
Kieran 17
Nick 12
Patrick 12
Dylan 12
Rob 11
Brian 9
Max 6
Vitoria 6
Noah 5

Love to see people skate Boston. I was really hoping for a bunch of clips at the JFK fountain but I'm guessing that the water hadn't been drained yet. My favorites were Patrick Praman, Nick Matthews, Rob Pace (who I wasn't familiar with), Brian Reid, and Kieran Wooley.

LOL okay, this video rules but I have a real dum story.
Patrick Praman is from a nearby town, and he's always been good as fuck. Cool dude too.
Let's take it back to summer 2012. Homies and I are headed to the local - we used to get very stoned before skating back then, and this day was no exception. We loop on the way and pull up. Lots of cars in the parking lot - we're like what? Of course we had no idea there was a Goofy vs Regular competition going on that day. But we figured fuck it lets stick around.
So we're chillin in the parking lot, sneaking around some smokes, sneaking in runs during warmups etc, and eventually I'm like "I'm gonna enter and just fucking suck super hard" and everyone's like hahah fuck yeah. So I decide on the pseudonym Timtom and enter. Dude at the check in desk gave me the once over and just shrugged like "fuck it". Pretty lame - wouldn't do it again, but we were the locals and had to spoof it.
As it turns out, they're doing 1 on 1 qualifying heats. Kids came from all the neighboring towns to try and get a shot. Homies and I are getting pretty pumped, like this could only go awfully and we're psyched. Announcer calls the number for my heat. I get out on the park and pick my starting point. Announcer is like "alright everyone we have this heat with..... Timtom..." and all the homies yell TIMTOMMMMM, and then I look to my right and my competitor is Patrick. Patrick is announced and they start the music. I felt real stupid at that point but I had to go through with the act. Patrick looks at me like you fuckin cunt hahaha, but it was all in good fun. I made sure to stay out his way cause he was really going for it.
Anyway he smoked me, and I didn't advance but that's no surprise. Timtom was a flop - my tricks included a couple bonelesses, a bunch of bertlemans, some laybacks and a handful of synchronized swimming type kickturns. Patrick was doing back noseblunts, big switch heelflips and shit. I don't recall if he won that day, but he definitely won in life. And that rules.
It was great. The stupid memories that make you smile at night. What a lovely summer day.

His win over Timtom gave him the confidence to pursue skateboarding full time, he owns you that much.
@Ms. Tamzarian this is an excellent story. Do you remember what trick Patrick chose to give Timtom a letter E?

lol could it be any more obvious nick doesn't even belong in this video. dude should have had a board yesterday.

It was pretty wild seeing him do pretty much the hardest trick on every spot bar rail spots. Like on the short out-ledge where he did the fs 180 switch nosegrind, and then a couple clips later did the same thing but switch bs 180 regular nosegrind. Dude is fucked - no reason for someone like that to be am.

Burberry Erry and Spanky go for it with the G's from the Illegal Civ clique in this gnarly compilation by Davonte Jolly.
The local crackheads from Santa Cruz flow through flawless ledge lines at China Banks. Look out for a buck-wild appearance from Jason Lee.
Elijah weighs in on skating in leggings, his friendship with T-Puds, posing nude for Nyjah's PR team and his humble beginnings in Italy. Fire it up.
Our homies Cyrus and Cher Strauberry go full throttle, stringing together hard hitting NBDs at El Toro.
Jim Greco put in the work on the rails behind SawCon, making this Indy part one of his best yet. Awwww yeah!

LOL, heyyy yeah I should hit him up for some credit! I was the foil to his protagonist leap! heheh
& Tux, I wish I could say I remembered the trick but I will never forget his gaze before delivery... in fact I think I found a photo from the archives....

Strange that Nick and Praman are still considered ams considering they released full length parts within the last year.
He’s been am for Krooked, Chocolate, Quasi, and AH, but hopefully this finally gets his name on a board. He’s been better than most pros for years now.
You mean flow? He wasn't am for any of those companies, and I'm still not sure he is officially on AH either or just in the 'mix'.
He says he's on AH in the other video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUoD-BHqFR0
"Hell yeah. So again, not to gossip, but you were riding Antihero boards on the trip. Is it safe to assume you’re a prospect?
Yeah. I mean, I’m actually on the Antihero trip right now.
How will we know if you’re on the team or not?
I don’t know. I guess we’ll see how this trip goes."

Im confused by this. Antihero hasn’t posted anything of Nick on their Instagram. Actually I don’t think they even follow him.
Also he wasn’t featured in the latest ad, but finn and Gus both were. Seems like they are both on, and nick is “flow”
Haha yeah wtf. Anti hero is blowing it if they don't seal the deal real soon. The hype for this guy is only growing.
Grimple Stix posts him constantly as does DLX.

I enjoyed it, I don't think it's as heavy as other Am scrambles, but I'm also a sucker for footage in older cities that may not be ideal for skating compared to newer cities with better weather, smoother concrete etc. Curious to see how other Am scramble crews would have handled Boston in comparison. Like, you aren't going to find the same rail chomping spots as going through Florida or the Southwest.
It def made me appreciate Dylan Jaeb more, I knew he was very talented, but seeing outside perfect SoCal spots or a skatepark gave me new appreciation for him as a ripper. I already knew Nick Matthews is being criminally slept on by the industry for whatever reasons (not marketable? doesn't vibe with teams?). No idea why, but he's been at a level for years where he should be pro, and not in flow purgatory. Would def be a weird fit for AH, seems like he would fit in perfect skating wise on Krooked with guys like Worrest and Cromer.

I wish i could hold lengthy crooks like Noah

Fun watch. Jaeb switch tre was tight. Brian Reid has grown man stee. Max is next level. Nick’s line was sick.
Looking forward to the “Does a ledge that has angle iron installed on it count as a fake spot” thread.
If you’ve ever been to that spot you’d know how fucked it is. Grinds can’t go down with out the angle iron and in Boston that’s considered a legendary spot. Coakley front nose grind over well over a decade ago. You wouldn’t even 5050 it. Trust
yeah honestly coakley’s 2009 nose grind is up there with the back smith and flip front 50-50 on that. That spot is so sketch
The shot of Nick rolling up and you see his board shaking on the brick was intense
Glad HUF and Venture havent slepped on dude, hopefully enough eyes are on him now
EDIT
I share this sentiment as well. She was a dope fit IMO

Im sure everyone on the trip was well paid and had good travel + accomodations. they all seem like very professional individuals and didnt seem to mind the age gap - seemed like for the most part they were pretty focused compared to most thrasher trips we saw in the past where it was nonstop beer + bongs. they obviously tossed a few lifestylers in there but did not look hellride at all to me. But yeah i think you also gotta realize this is just a 1 time thing so if they arent besties with everyone during the trip its not a huge deal either. i really like to see a trip like this with people from all different teams it was really cool to see them all attack that bump to bar together.
Looks like a lot of them took some tough slams you have to cut them a little more slack. it is extremely difficult and a lot of pressure to come thorugh with that heavy of clips in such a short time span. one other thing to consider, some of the clips may be saved for other projects too.

Just for the over the block backlipslide he belongs to
AH - Julien was my first thought.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. This was the most memorable one for me since the first one. Also does anyone have a link to the first Am Scramble? I can’t find it anywhere but I’m also pretty tech illiterate.
Nvm found it - everyone looks so young lol. Forgot Jarne was on this one. Ew.

They have a pretty long line up, but they should just give Nick Mathews a board on Real….if he was from Belgium or something I’d prolly just shrug my shoulders and say…..sure…but nah, we can’t have this. I liked Dylan Jaeb a lot and if I was Trent Mcclung I’d be worried….only so much space for boring super good nice white guys on the team… how many times did we ask for Mike Mo not be an annoying frat boy….well we got it, and it’s not really an improvement….
