Shamefully admitting I still watch the nine club. Not a diehard, episodes have tanked, but when someone like Tyler surrey pops up I tune in.
With that being said, who is the angel investor Ryan Koola? Dude is tossing hundreds of dollars every week to them. Gotta imagine it’s helped keep the show alive. It’s not unreal money, but week in and week out, dude drops $500+ on the fucking nine club?? I think it’s an inside job

they are not a big enough channel to be making good money off youtube views
their most popular video has 2.3 million views, so at the paying rate of 3-5 dollars per 1000 views, that is $10,000 at most, from their absolute best performing video.
that alone can hardly pay the hosts, rent in Cali for the apartment, and all the rest
so it makes sense they sell merch in addition to having sponsors, otherwise the whole thing would just be a waste of their time financially

Good point they also get paid by their sponsors and selling merch.

There aren't a ton of places doing hour+ interviews with pro skaters.
Nine Club gets shit on for not "asking hard-hitting questions" but if they grilled all their guests about random shit from their past or tried to get them to trash talk others in the industry...they'd get a lot more people refusing to go on the show.
The Bunt try to stir up drama with their rapid fire questions, but for every one person who gives a controversial answer you get 9 who just give softball answers, eg "Last person I want on the sesh? The Cops!" and "Worst brand? Uhhh...Z-Roller!", "Worst style? Skinny jeans!".
It makes sense because if you're a pro skater why the fuck would you want to arbitrarily burn bridges in your profession? Also you probably have friends who skate for the "lame companies" and don't want to make them feel bad, or you know you'll see that guy who has bad style around and probably don't want to deal with that kind of awkwardness.
I don't love the Nine Club by any means, having fucking Gary Vee on was the kookiest shit I've ever seen. But I don't think there's anything wrong with watching or even enjoying an episode from time to time.

Ryan Koola? I hardly know'her!

im still shadow banned from live chat. i have done nothing. I did make a rotten joke when they was playing video games that everyone kinda hard reacted to. that could be it. its problee for the best. in live chat i actually hunt for people i see engaging others and brainwash them into riding ventures and other usa products.
thunder pendent issued the hit maybe

I totally agree, and want to give them credit where credit is due. They have consistently, week over week pumped out decent quality content, not an easy task.
But with situations like mark oblow talking about gator, to them trying and failing to properly speak on world matters like Tyree Nichols murder, etc, they prove time and time again not only do they avoid, by they are incapable of talking on any topic of substance. They let me down time and time again in that area. That latest experience where Kelly keeps saying ‘I just don’t know how something like this could happen’ drove me crazy. Leave Laguna beach for once, look at less privileged parts of the world, wtf is wrong with you?
Case in point that shit drives me nuts. And is all financially backed by Ryan Moola

Ryan Koola No.1 Nice Club Stan, ($ donation) it's not so bad.

Who?

Would make an interesting guest for Stop & Chat, honestly. Could answer questions about how he manages to use his mom’s credit card to fund their podcast.
Would def be the 1st time they’ve had a teenage hand model as a guest.

I think they also realize they aren’t equipped to speak satisfactorily about that kind of thing, so they leave it alone. They know they’re just a bunch of old skaters putting on skating’s equivalent of The Tonight Show.
Would your life be enhanced by knowing Chris Roberts’ thoughts on police reform? Mine wouldn’t.

Pretty sure Ryan Koola used to be a filmer way back in the day. I’ve seen him credited in early/mid-nineties videos for b-list companies. Celentani’s Tactical Manual I think?
Fuck knows what he’s doing now to drop hundreds of dollars to the Nine Club each week but I’m pretty sure he’s writing it off his tax bill as a donation.

there was a nom de plume, alan smithee, that a bunch of directors all used to make shit films the studios fucked up. i wonder if ryan koola is a skate filmer nom de plume that a bunch of filmers (roger included) used to stash clips in b-level skate films while they worked for a-level companies and now they’re just funneling money into the show through a fictional character

Small indeed.
Sadly, the truth of his identity, serendipitous as it turns out to be, still falls flat next to the idea of a teenage hand model w/ his wealthy parent’s credit card, funding the Nice Club.
Alas…
