Title: FS Lipslide on ledges frustration
Post by: Daewons front truck on February 05, 2023, 06:59:28 PM
This trick is driving me completely bonkers, I can do Lipslides on rails but when I try to take it ledges it is no bueno. I don't understand, I go very fast with reasonably hard wheels (99a) and I either slide a couple a inches or I don't slide at all and get launched .I think FS Lipslides and FS feebles are the coolest looking tricks on ledges and while I can sometimes do a mediocre feeble I can't get these fucking Lipslides though even though this ledge is plenty waxed. Does anyone else have this issue or anyone have a technique that works for them?

Trick feels a bit different depending on the obstacle, on a rail will feel more like a balancing act whereas on a ledge there is resistance and friction around your back wheels, normally slowing you down but that's also space to distribute more of your weight over that you normally don't have (pushing down on the back leg on a rail lipslide, you'd just tip over to the other side, whereas here you can use the assist). Even if your ledge is waxed, you'll need or at least want speed. Maybe don't try to pretend you're doing the same thing you'd normally do on a rail and instead approach the trick more like a frontside disaster on transition if that makes sense, you kind of bash into it then endure.

Holy shit Silhouette, believe or not that advice about approaching it like a Front D paid off. I was having a sesh with my old homie and got two proper Lipslides on the ledge. You are a legend for that man. I also got my first nollie flip bs 50-50. I'm surprised I can even learn new tricks after missing years of skating due to surgeries and the fact that I'm in the wrong side of 30 lol. I had to re learn how to kickflip and everything.
