That Wes Kremer video got me thinking I should get some more analog stuff back into my life. What's a good skateboarding-related publication to get? Is Thrasher any good these days?
-
Thrasher is hit or miss, and most of the content are ads. But single issues are cheap at $6 each and a 12 month subscription is also cheap starting at $28.95 depending where you are (free t-shirt option as well).
Closer is a lot more interesting to me, and has a better content to ad ratio. It's also printed and put together as a magazine book (I don't know the right term for it) so its physical quality is great. But single issues cost more at $20 each, it's one issue per season, and a subscription is $80 yearly in the US, $125 international.

+1 on closer. Jamie’s doing it right, I’ve yet to not like an issue
-
I've been thinking the same thing. I want to put magazines in the toilet so I read them instead of going on my phone.
-
Thanks for the Closer recs. Looks like a high quality publication that's worth its price.

Not sure where you are but in USA, Thrasher and Closer. If you're ever in U.K, pick up a copy of Free Skate Mag. Shout out to the dudes at Slam City Skates in London, who hooked me up with a stash for me and my homies.

Kawa out of Japan is the most beautiful photo mag I’ve ever seen. Highly recommended.
And if you are into transition and DIY culture, Confusion zine is another favorite

Golden Hour has some good issues, especially the Uncle Freddy one https://shop.goldenhour.online/

+1 for Free. Shout out to Fred at ABS for hooking me up.

Probably this: https://skatejawn.com/

Free skate, vague mag, grey.

Weird to see complaints about ads - they feature tricks. I used to hate it back when they’re were 2-3 mags around and they’d use the same ads, but some of the best skating in magazines are the ads
-
Free Skate Mag 100%

Dunno how to get them other than shops giving them to me, but Skate Jawn and Vague are my bathroom reading of choice. SJ has good articles and interviews but Vagues cover is printed on stock that's the ideal thickness for rolling joint butts, so I might give them the edge.

It's not print media per se but I feel like Simple Magic's weekly column deserves more shine even in or own

Give him a read, subscription or comment if you enjoy it just the same, please

A belated thank you for this recommendation. I've truly enjoyed this magazine and you are right about the quality. Worth the investment imo.
