Title: Who here has the biggest ice vault
Post by: disgruntledMTAEmployee on December 18, 2023, 05:35:22 PM
Not counting collectors stuff. I'm talking about gear that you plan to use.

As an example that I'm sure is considered mild:

on ice I have 10 decks all 8.5 of various brands, 8 sheets of grip (maybe i can make it work idk), 1 set of indy hardware, 2 pairs of royal trucks, and one pair of sb dunk replicas from dhgate

In transit I have a set of 53mm spitfire f4s, a set of swiss ceramics, and 4 pairs of sb dunk reps.

I wanna see how unhinged this can get.

I have one set of Bronson G3s in case my current ones blow up

Calling 10 decks mild is fucking wild

Trying to keep it mellow. I have two Huffers and a Genius shape for decks, three sheets of Pepper galaxy grip,  a set of Swiss 6, a pair of Ace classics 55s, two sets of F4 58mm Classics and a set of 56mm Radials. For shoes, I have two pairs of NB 212s, a pair of 440s and Half Cab 92s.That's my unused shit.

I also have some wheels and trucks in various forms of decay and four set ups currently in rotation (including a cruiser). Feels like a lot now that I've typed it out... but it will all get used.

I have enough trucks to start a foundry, enough wheels to supply satoris re-life program...decks I leave at the spot if I don't vibe.

5 or so decks on ice...mostly 8.125-8.25 (on an 8.5 kick right now), 6 or so sheets of grip.

3 x 8.5 Hockey decks.  Love the shape, falls right between a popsicle and the shaped boards I usually ride, graphics are great and they were all $50 AUD each, which is a dang steal in Australia.  About to fire up the next one.

I was collecting bloards during the pandemic era and mega sales era of the last couple years. Also I had more money saved up. Probably had 30+ decks at one point in time. Skated about 10 of those. Still have around 20 or so mostly 8.25, assorted companies. Have a couple sets of Swiss on ice, just gave a pair of Reds to one of my homies in need. 3 sets of F4’s (2 classics, 1 conical full). A new Independent spare parts kit still sealed, similar to a Shortys First Aid Kit. Awesome gift from my brother in law who knows nothing about skating. Only 1 sheet of grip, usually an excuse to go into my local and grab a sheet and say whats up. More pairs of shoes than I can count or want to even look at (probably in the 20-30 range). And unfortunately it’s majority vans and some blazers which I don’t really skate in anymore. Probably gonna end up trying to sell some on eBay, Facebook marketplace or give some away to the homies. Slowed down a lot on the hoard lately due to low funds and also wanting to slow down my consumption of materials. I definitely have an addictive shopping/spending habit.

2 pairs of royals? I don’t think any of the locals in my area have that type of stock combined. And what’s up with the reps? Not necessarily hating on it but the black and the white dunks have been available at many shops online recently. So unless you’re going for a hype beast colorway to stand out I don’t really see the point in buying the reps from overseas (assuming you’re not in China). Personally I’d recommend any cupsole NB# over Dunks. I tried going back to dunks recently and couldn’t do it. Don’t plan on skating any vulcs  again either.

You're definitely in the lead so far, unless Xen has like hundreds of sets of trucks/wheels.

Hoping that these swiss ceramics will keep me from having to buy any bearings for a while.

I've had those royals since they were re-released. currently debating on getting more on this skatewarehouse sale, even though they last forever...

i get the reps because they're $45 shipped, there's a lot more stock and color options than at skateshops, and i can wait a while for them to arrive. but like you have i tend to buy shoes especially if they're on sale and end up not skating a lot of them. so i might not even stick to these long term, especially since these being reps i don't expect QC to be 100% consistent. they skate decent but they need shoe goo pretty early and i use insoles that will last me a couple of pairs at least.

I get the impression NB makes good skate shoes but I can't stand the look of the N. the 808s look nice but can't see myself wearing them either.

mid this year I had enough parts to make 8 full setups (+ extra), and 30 different pairs of shoes on the rack (not all for skating)
Now I have 3 setups, one being a cruiser, and 20ish pairs of shoes.

2024 im trying to get it to one permanent setup and a cruiser, only buying skate shoes when I need them. I was going nuts for a while.

I have my setup which is a habitat twin with 149 forged hollows 53 tabs and swiss
On ice I have 7 decks, 2 pairs of 5.8s, a pair of 5.6 vlights, some 144 standards, 5 sets of f4s, some 97a slimeballs, and a set of triclops wheels. And some other odds and ends.

Does "on ice" imply unused new gear or anything you've used for some time and will use again?
Title: Re: Who here has the biggest ice vault
Post by: borntoexpire on December 19, 2023, 05:13:53 AM
I'm sitting on an Alltimers, 4 Elements (Z*mies online sale), and one last Darkroom deck. All gripped already, but I have some extra rolls of the stuff. I keep a fully stocked Shortys kit with added odds and ends, and I keep different wheels in duros and sizes in my trunk at all times.

But my worst crime is hoarding 45-ish pairs of various Lynx, Lukoda, Kalis, and Clocker shoes.

I buy all my stuff for the year during sale season to save during the year so my hoard is pretty much at its peak.

About 10 decks (8.38 and 8.5)
4 pairs of shoes (blazer mids)
Extra set of Indy’s
Extra set 55mm f4 classic
Some new hardware

The last things on my list are a set of 56 radials and a set of Swiss if I can get it for cheap

Nothing "on ice" ... all is in rotation.  3 completes, 4-5 pair of shoes
Title: Re: Who here has the biggest ice vault
Post by: kook1234 on December 19, 2023, 06:04:58 AM
2 FA/hockey decks
1 set of Indys
1 set of spits
2 kingpins

I could use a fresh set of Swiss but I have enough old ones that are still good to get me by if I had to swap some out of my current setup (ive never had to do this with Swiss)

1 pair Tyshawn mids, 3 pairs Busenitz, 1 pair Busenitz vulc, 1 pair superstars non adv, 1 pair of kalis lites, 1 pair of 1010s

Ive had more but find it embarrassing having so many pairs of shoes.  on the other hand, buying 2 pairs of the same shoe at a time feels so good.  you get to wear/skate one and sleep easy at night knowing you have a fresh pair sitting there.  I like to keep my shoes on ice way past the point of that given color way not selling anymore.

My hardware reserve ratio is pretty mellow.   at the very least I try to maintain a Christmas complete on ice to be able to replace anything on my setup.  I also only skate 1 setup as opposed to a park setup, ditch setup, etc

I had way more this time last year. I’m down to about half of what I had board and shoe-wise. Currently I have…

7 boards
3 pairs of shoes
1 set of wheels
1 set of bearings

I had too much shit for a while but those Covid deals were too good to pass up.
Title: Re: Who here has the biggest ice vault
Post by: Gleefull508 on December 19, 2023, 07:16:48 AM
1 antihero
2 limosine
1 alltimers
2 pair 440 high
2 pair milic last resorts
1 pair lakai riley 3 low (they were 20$)
1 pair dunk low (wheats)
2 pair dunk high (green/white and pecan)

Not that crazy with the boards I just like to have a backup 8.25 and 8.38 incase mine breaks. Have a couple more than normal rn bc of sales. The shoes I have no excuse if shoes go on sale I cant help myself

No trucks, wheels, bearings, or hardware on ice as I’ve assembled some completes but I have 6 loveseats and 4 couches chilling. Those $80 mystery boxes from Crail are too good to pass up and I’m in a constant state of fear that either of those shapes will be discontinued so I stay stacking wood like a lumberjack.

For shoes I think I have four pairs of LRAB and one pair of half cabs.

I never buy anything at full price, just always buy in bulk.

Sad to say I think I’ll beat out all.

20 enjoi 8.5 on ice, mainly because stores were dropping the brand and they were more than half off.

I’m a hoarder when it comes to a shoe I like

21 pairs of Laced, 15 pair of slip cups, looking at another 3 on Amazon right now too. 6 pair of g6 figgy

4 pairs of radials, I stocked up when the Leo baker ones came out

Then there’s my spares box with has grip and trucks and all the other stuff.

You all make me feel so good about myself hahaha

4 new decks
A mostly full roll of Shorty's Blackmagic
2 backup used boards to bring to the session in case I break what I'm on or I see a kid who needs a new board.
1 pair of shoes
no wheels that haven't been used already, no unused bearings just a few loose for backups, no extra hardware

I understand having decks and shoes on ice. But Bones swiss? those should last at least a year, if not 2-3. Are you getting them on super sale? Trucks too, at least for me, but then again I don't skate as much as I used to. Can someone help me understand? Is it sale prices too good to pass up? A bit of gear madness? a combination of both?

Still in packaging:
4 Decks
1 Set of wheels
6 Pairs of shoes
1 Set of trucks
3 Sets of cheap bearings

Used, still very useable, but on ice or on a setup I don't currently use:
1 Deck
5 Sets of wheels
5 Sets of trucks

+ 1 cruiser board but I actually use it

Hopefully gonna sell most of the used stuff next year or hook some kids up

Totally madness. I have these 5 extra sets of trucks because I needed to try them out because they are totally gonna be what makes me better at skating and I'm missing out. Now I'm over it and riding the same trucks I rode before buying any of those.

Couple sheets of grip.

One pair of One Stars, one pair of Rowans.

Everything else is being used.

Never felt the need to stock on a specific deck shape because I enjoy the differences in one board to the next. There's parameters I stick to, mainly WB and width, but the rest is ultimately inconsequential.

Shoes are maybe the most sensible gear to hoard, since non-legacy models get discontinued so often. Wish I would have bought stacks of Reynolds 3's back in the day....

I have 3 decks that I bought because darkroom was closing. Normally, I don’t have any in reserve.

I had a ton a while back but started trying to get lipslides better last summer so I'm actually with no backup decks rn.

Just set up 2 weeks ago tho so I should be good for the limited skating I do in the winter.

Wheels, on the other hand, I have 2 sets of F4s (55 radial, 54 conical full) and I want to try radial fulls, strictly cuz I think they look cool.... why does my madness only affect my wheels?

im bad at replacing broken kingpins and when I do manage to replace them the trucks never feel the same.  also, im going to swap them regardless when I grind through to the axel and im really close to doing so

Crazy sale on Swiss over Black Friday. got some Swiss6 for under $40. I probably buy one set of good bearings a year but have multiple set ups so they typically last me a few years.

4 boards (pretty proud of how low this number is for me), 4 sheets of grip
2 sets of venture cast hollows
7 or 8 sets of assorted formula fours (almost all of which I got for free one way or another in my defense)

Like 15-16 pairs of unskated shoes (mix of mostly Jordan 1s, Dunks and NB cupsoles mostly 1010s) not including the 3 pairs I'm almost done with  :-X :-X :-X

Also bought this Blind Morgan Smith complete from FB marketplace for $30 mainly for the brand new indys.  Came with 52 bones stfs stained by rusted bones bearings lol

Here's a question for those with a full time job and a family. How fast are you going through decks on average?
No family yet, but got a full time job and side career that’s also full time. I skate 2-3 a week spring-fall. A deck can last me for three months. I swap them out sooner though.

I guarantee I've got you all beat in terms of NFG/ old Loophole wheels on ice ;) at least 10, maybe 12
Might even be bigger than my watch collection lol
As for the rest:
2x Chico Stix decks
1X pair of Indy 159s
1X pair of NB 440s
1X pair of spanky KSLs

I rotate between two boards in my quiver so I can usually get a year out of them both

Full time working asshole but my kid is an adult and my wife knows I have to skate/ surf as much as possible in my free time, if she wants a sane companion. My job is often pretty flexible so I squeeze in lunch break sessions when the weather cooperates. And then usually a longer session or two on the weekend. Probably go through 4 to 6 decks a year. For most of my skate life I'd ride boards until they were either in two pieces or pretty much unusable but over the last few years, I like to pass them on to people who can get some solid use out of them. So I'm not riding boards until they are complete toast anymore. Same with wheels and even shoes. But trucks I ride to axle before passing on. Lots of curbs and pool coping means I go through more trucks now in middle age than I did when I was in my 'prime.'

9 new decks, 20 slightly used ones, 2 pairs of new Spitfires, and 10 pairs of shoes.

For context, I skate twice a week and barely ollie. My gear could last for months. This is absurd.

Decks - 3-4 Habitat Twins, close to 100 collector ones
Trucks - 1 pair of Venture 5.8 TI brand new, 3 pairs of used Venture 5.2s for spare cast / forged baseplates, 1 pair of used Venture 5.6 TI, 1 pair of used Venture 5.8 TI (current setup)
Wheels - 3-5 sets of SML and F4s total
Bearings and hardware - I'll skate whatever I have lying around
Shoes - 10 pairs at least (4 x eS, 4 x NB, 2 x Nike SB), add another 4 pairs of chillers

21 pairs of laced? :0

20 decks
4 sets of wheels
3 sets of trucks (2 venture and 1 Ace)
couple sets of hardware
1 set of swiss
few sheets of Mob

30+ pairs of shoes
4 pairs of NB 440
6 pairs of NB 1010
10 pairs of Nike SB blazer mids
10 pairs of Nike SB dunks
6 or so pairs of Vans Crockett highs

4 current completes in some sort of rotation

About a dozen decks that have plenty of life in my trunk I need to leave at a park or spot

EDIT: Added a pic of the deck rack, the other hardgoods are in a bin under there. Don't have a pic of the shoe wall in my phone.

Trucks are the heart and soul of a skateboard. So having tons on ice seems wild to me. Nothing changes the feel of a setup more than a different brand of trucks.

trucks are the hardest thing for me to find on sale it seems... i am going to need a new set soon as well. planning on riding these to hangar failure. i have almost grinded through the top washer. i may end up grabbing an extra set of trucks next time to put on ice if i see a good price and for spitfires as well.

Really? I guess it depends on what you skate, because if you skate Indy, Venture or Thunder, it seems like the usual suspects (CCS, Skate Warehouse, etc.) have been blowing them out for ~$40/set since 2021.

I wasn’t stock pile keeper pre late 2019. Lockdown made me more so a stock piler, but now I’m running through my stuff on ice. I have a quasi (Justin Henry 1st pro model I had bought a couple of it because I loved the graphic), a snack and a club. All 8.5s. I don’t know if club is still around but if it isn’t and that’s your group of friends I’d be more than happy to part with it. You’d just need to pay shipping.

Shoes I got a 2 pairs of half cabs but I’m going to retire my current ones and start skating one of them soon.

correct.
at this point i’m such a broken record, but there seem to be 5 ish posters that i’m always going to like their setups. runs the gamut.  coexist with the 5.0s on an 8, dead with the 55s on 8.5, bp with 5.8s and a ps stix.

i tend to try so much different stuff, my setups would reek of add thru the screen.

Have around 24 pairs of Emerica KSL g6 on ice

This guy takes the crown for now.

Shoes never made sense for me since the glue and rubber degrades so quickly in the heat and humidity of the tropics. I feel slightly better about decks since I will get round to skating them eventually, but its the 1-off impulse buys that caused my stack of decks to creep up. Like bouts of madness that tells me I should give 8.125s / 8.75s / Brand XYZ trucks a shot, despite clearly knowing what size / shape / trucks I like.

Nowadays I just let the cart sit for a few days before I decide to pull the trigger.

I’ve got glaciers of ice.  Between the madness, OCD and not being able to say no to a good deal, I could open a small shop, and this isn’t even including clothing, smh..
Just off the top of my head, I would say at least a dozen decks ready to skate (not including any collection/wall decks). 7 sets of wheels, and at least six pairs of trucks. I can’t even guess how many shoes I’m sitting on..
The pandy had me shook, I thought there was gonna be a huge supply drought, that’s when I started stockpiling. Then the board price increase had me searching out and deals I could find on BBS wood.
I’ve got more than enough gear to coast into retirement, smh....

Warping and shoes falling apart is a concern. It’s why I plan on swapping gear every month even though I don’t need to. Was gonna keep the same deck until March cause I barely skate in the winter. Same with shoes. But I may as well set something new up. It’ll be nearly 60 degrees here on Christmas.

If the Joslins get discontinued this will be me as well.

I have 2 pairs I swap out for colors to wear to work and weekend stuff, and 1 sitting in the box in closet. (One of these will be chosen for its glorious new life as griptape scraper)

But I don’t go through gear very quickly so a pair of shoes will last about 8 months or so.

That pic was badass haha! Please tell us more, how long do shoes last you? Do you ever feel like this is a little overboard? Do you just accumulate these pairs over time or is it a all at once purchase?
For ksl its month and a half, i dont chase them. Bought most with discount. But my knee pain went away when i started using g6, so im sticking to it. Yeah its abit overboard, but fuck that knee pain, rather shell out money.

Superior might be the shittiest griptape ever.

If buying shoes to skate, only to not to skate them is a crime then put me in jail. I think i have 4 on ice.

4? I probably have 15-20 at least

Admittedly, I've recently started wearing a few pairs casually to rotate them in before skating

I want to do this, but there's something about new deck/new shoes. I like taking them with me to the spot, and breaking them in during a session.

I’m starting to think Emerica started the rumors about going under and sacrificed a few lambs so all the doom preppers would buy up the remaining KSLs and Slip Cups for their ice vaults. Maybe it shored up enough liquidity that they can keep hanging on for a few more seasons.

Damn I didn’t realize the KSL was good enough to stock up on. My local has some I was looking at but the price is higher than I want to go with. The G6 is legit though. I’ve been skating a pair of Reynolds G6 on and off for about 4 years and they are about done. I’ve swapped out multiple other pairs of shitty vulc shoes in that time but always come back to the G6 because I’m old and my feet hurt.

Ooh. I like conspiracy theories.

Maybe that’s why they canned EmericaTM: because he was putting in too much effort to make Emerica look good.

And they didn’t like that.

Not. One. Bit.

That's why I wear them casually when not skating so it breaks them in. Skating them for the first time feels less of a struggle than if I went straight from the box. Especially because I only skate thick-ish cupsoles (Marana, KSL, Joslin, Silo SC, Reynolds G6, etc.)

That's basically how the new deck I often set up right before I start skating the casually worn pair from my stack gets paired. New shoes (new as in not skated) with a new-er board

Just took inventory.
9 pairs of shoes. Joslin x 8. Marana x 1.
2 sets of indy 149s. 1 standard. 1 standard hollow
8 sets of F4s. 53 classics, og classics, radials, lock-ins x 3. 56 conical full x 2.
15 decks. 4 popsicles. 4 eggs. 7 shaped.
Grip, bearings, hardware, risers, bushings, yes.
The worst part about this, I dislocated my elbow 4 months ago and haven’t been able to skate since.
And don’t get me started on my stockpile of lightly used gear.

It sucks having a ton of gear and not being able to use it. Part of me think it’s a bad idea to hoard stuff cause you never know when an injury will take you out 🥲

I’m probably neck-and-neck with your count (except my shoes are Vans not Etnies) and I keep thinking I’ll skate more, but being a new dad with a fulltime job has really slowed down all my skating.

I spend more time talking about skating now than actually skating.

My shoe vault increased substantially during the BF / Xmas sales, I now have 7 pairs of NB and 3 pairs of eS. I've decided to stop fooling myself thinking I can skate Nike SB / Adidas / Lakai and give / sell them to homies.

Sad I didn't try the 1010 earlier - I wanted to stick to eS but they're just not as good.

I bought twelve of these for $10 each. Have skated a few and gave away a couple. Probably won’t have to buy wheels for a couple more years.

Hell yeah…That’s so fire… I just got a pair of these but not sure if I wanna end up skating them.:.

definitely, skateboarding is definitely a sub-culture
