Glad he’s still getting paid.
-
Good for him! He’s underrated and deserves a check.
Has any brand crumbled as fast as SM??
-
DGK in the Bay!
Stoked for him.
-
He's so good, love seeing clips of him kill bay area spots
-
I haven’t been this happy about a return since Allen Iverson became a Sixer again.

Yes!

Always appreciated his low-profile presence in the game.

I was excited to see where he would land after the SM demise. I figured he’d end up on Maxallure with Karl or something like that. Hard to me mad at this. Full circle

Glad he’s still getting paid.
Didn’t everyone leave because they weren’t getting paid? Lol

I was more or less saying glad he’s still able to land on another skate company cause a lot of companies have very little room to pay another vet like himself.
-
I sure hope there’s a good non payment clause in that contract, Jack seems super smart/responsible and I’m sure he knows not to touch that burner without two butter knives.

3D crashed and burned before it even had wings

Just listened to his Bunt episode a week ago and he said “I thought I’d be on DGK forever” and talked about how they took care of Marcus McBride forever.
Really stoked to see that actually pan out for him
-
Hoped he would be the lead of a new Aesthetics team, but this is great too

nice

They had such a sick team with BA, prime AO, Austyn, and Kadow. It’s too bad the company was just SM 2.0

I think they were saying people left DGK because pay issues

Ah. I see. Hopefully they fixed all of that but I am sure their salaries are no where near where it used to be in the hay day of DGK. Any money is good money at this point in their careers.

With the amount of people on DGK it makes you wonder what their pay structure is. Their website doesn’t list who is on, but their videos always have upwards of 10 to 15.

Back in its hay day when it was in macys it was confirmed 10k a month no royalties. I doubt it’s that much now.
Their team is huge. Now, a lot of teams are huge again. see how long this last.

Skate Mental has been around since 2007, I’d say that’s a solid run. That being said, I would have liked more videos from them over that long period of time

No doubt.
I was looking forward for that full length they advertised when they had Koston, Curren, Jake Anderson etc though. Team was loaded, everybody left, and the video never came out.

Popwar/Populus :), Rasa Libre any Mike V company prior to Street Plant... and on that note glad he's back on!

circle of life. this is perfect for him.

since we're on skatemental subject. what happened to that dude called Darkness?

Injury i believe. dude looked good on a skateboard.

I sort of wish Wade was back on too. I always felt him Primitive was sort of odd.
-
is anyone still on Skate Mental at this point? off the top of my head, Antonio, Koston, Plunkett, Jake and Curren, and now Jack have all left recently. Was that dude Giorgi on at some point? Adrian Del Campo?

Looks like they may be “of” skateboarding.

I actually love him on Primitive. It's gotta be a top-selling company and all of the riders are relevant.
DGK has always seemed a little cheezy to me tho. Lenny Rivas being a gangster didn't make his grip tape tags any cooler

Populis / Popwar lasted at least 3 years, maybe 5. At one point they had a stacked team for the time of Justin Strubing, Rob G, Kenny Reed, Chad Timtim, Raymond Molinar and Scott Kane (briefly before they tanked I think).
-
SkateMental didn’t really fall that fast. They’ve been around since around 07/08, right? 17ish years is a decent run. They were never the top brand, or even totally relevant but they had their moments.
It was more weird that Jack went to SM in the first place
-
Shane O'neill being on SM at one point still makes no sense to me

its the nike connection

More so referring to the fact SM had a stacked team 9 months ago and was filming for a full length. One card fell and the house crumbled. Would have been hyped for that full length personally.

that was a stacked team! and I did have some Populis "flat spot free" wheels one of the first ones at the time and they never did flatspot :D
-
I think this is an example where no leader sort of messed things up for Skate Mental. I remember in one of Jack's interviews, he said skating for Brad was chill and he required nothing from his riders....but then there was no team focus in going on trips to get footage as a team. I am sure there are a lot of skate teams like that out there where they just do their own thing but I am sure after a while, you just feel like you are riding for someone you don't care about. I was hoping to see Koston and Curtin skate together but oh well.

Sites been down for a bit. Staba wrote on insta that it would be back up soon with new product. How do I know this? I spend entirely too much time on the internet. Does he work for Oakley? I feel like I read that on here and saw him posting a bunch of Oakley related stuff the other day.

Imagine being a laid off Oakely designer. You're carrying your desk's belongings, which includes a signed picture with Lutzka. On the way out, you see Staba, looking like Andy Bernard. He's sitting at his pizza stained standing desk and gives you one of those fist-over-the-chest moves in solidarity. His job title is 'theorist' and his deliverables are going to be Brad-rad.
Life's good for skateboarding's ol' Nard Dog.
