Thanks the invite months ago, Kuman! Stupid part of me is that I downloaded some hard to find stuff. Problem was, I couldn't keep up a good ratio, because hard to find stuff for yourself isn't really wanted by other people. Been seeding since I started the account.

I highly suggest cherishing your ratio there. Good stuff.
The best thing to do is only download stuff from there that you can't find anywhere else, then when christmas time rolls around, they set it up to where no matter how much you download it won't effect your ratio. Thats when I get everything that I've missed or forgotten about. Then you'll have like 20+ torrents seeding for a while with more people than usual downloading, and your ration will shoot right up.

Oink is weird with uploading, I'm not sure why. It will only upload certain times or certain amounts. Other sites I download from will upload all day long, but oink will only do it like once a week.

as far as getting your ratio up on oink ill ussually just download some bullshit that is brand new or when i know something is going to leak. i downloaded the new interpol and t.i and never even listened to them and they both seeded like crazy.

I used to have a ton of invites but lost them all cuz one dude I invited got banned. Then after that, my ratio started to go down down down....

I was just thinking that when I downloaded Rihanna. I was listening to that shit in my car thinking about how many other losers like me would fucking love to get on my ratio if I had Rihanna on my Oink list.

The thing about Oink is that everything is always seeded super well. So you'll always download stuff really fast but unless you're onto a torrent in it's beginning stages, it'll take quite a while to seed it up to 100%
There are really three routes to getting a killer ratio.
1) Have a large collection of in demand/rare music and upload it all (if you upload it in flac you're ratio is going to destory)
2) Jump on trendy/popular shit as soon as it gets on the site. For example, I got on the new Modest Mouse album as one of the first downloaders. I was then one of the first seeders and had seeded it 10 times over before it wore out.
3) Wait for New Years when they have free time. You can download as much as you want for a week and it won't affect your ratio. However, everything seeded/uploaded during that time will be positive towards your ratio.

I dunno how long some of you are/ were using on Oink(Goood bless em...)but I had like a 2:1(ul 10gbs dl 5gbs... their DB server crashed and when they got it back online ALL the accounts were deleted, ratios included. After that they stopped open registration and started that invite shit...I pleaded with them for like a month to let me back in, nope...get an invite, go to the IRC channel, etc. I ain't mad at them for going the invite route as that preserves the site in the long term. I'm just mad that I have them in my RSS list and I can still see whats released but I can't log in :'( :'( :'(
In any case, I upped a lot rare, vintage, promo deep house music(from the late 80's to the early 90's and that shit took forever to encode)

i don't even know if that would help, because then you only get a really really small portion and your ratio wouldn't be doing any climbing. in my case, i got lucky because it turned out i became the only person seeding this Gene album i had on there, and my ratio went from like 0.5 to 1.5 over night. i guess it wouldn't hurt to check out like whats on the billboard tops right now or something if you didn't mind cluttering your computer up.

There are a couple things about Oink that really really piss me off.
I love the site. When I joined it last year it totally rejuvenated my interest in music.
However, I really think an uploader should be able to categorize a torrent by at least two genres.
For example, I have a bunch of cd's by various Japanese punk and indie bands. Now I can put that into
either punk or Asian...but not both. It makes no sense. They have an area in the forums where you
can recommend changes/improvements. Unfortunately the dude who is the mod is so far stuck up his
own ass with power that he refuses to even talk about anthing.
Also, does anyone else remember audiogalaxy? The cool thing about that program was that it allowed you
to always check out new music. You search for a group you know and want to download and then it recommends
a couple other bands that you might like.
Oink's policies actually go against discovering new music.

This is the reason why when the stats server went down he didn't give a fukk about who uploaded/ downloaded, he just disable(s)/deletes accounts wholesale because the spunk nazi doesn't know fukk all about imaging...Anyway, this shit isn't rocket science and I still don't have an invite.
Sad thing is the old shit I upped is probably still being d/l'ed :'( yet I can't get back in...

I kindly recieved an invite by kuman. I still can't invite people. I don't know how I'll get my ratio up because the torrents that I was seeding were on the computer in Japan so now I have nothing to seed, and I've already downloaded 200 or 300mb. I don't really have anything to upload here either. Anyone have any tips to get my ratio up?

Be sure to make sure that you are "clever". Check the FAQs on the site. You don't have anything you could possibly upload? Dude, Japan release stuff usually fares pretty well; don't you have anything like that? If so hook it up as regular rip and if possible as flac as well. That might help.
