There are so many sand blasted ledges near my house that look so skateableand awesome. I'm trying to figure out what I can do besides putting shit loads of wax on them to make them slide/grind. Paint? any ideas?
-
Would putting angled iron on them work?
-
Try to call Mob to have one gigantic griptape
-
try using spray-on lacquer. let that shit dry for 15 minutes, then use a good, heavy coat of wax. repeat as necessary.

Although you say you want toother methods other than wax...
Gulf wax is really good wax. You get 4 big bars for like 5 dollars. Its soft and goes into the crevaces, you should get some.
you can also try to get a rock of a decent size and do the motions of waxing the ledge with the rock, you grind it down to a smoother surface and then waxing is a lot easier.

Anyone ever really try this? Does it work?
The idea sounds like it would work.
I have a serious sandblasted ledge by my house and this could def help.

I'm not saying its fool proof, but it certainly helps a dry ledge become skateable

What does sand-blasting the ledge do? I would think that would actually smooth it down... and if it's smooth, do what people have been doing the the last twenty years and wax it with a candle.

You have not encountered such a ledge?
Just a candle would be a waste of wax.
-
Apparently I haven't, but I've never seen a ledge that a little candle wax won't make grind-able.

wax is really the only thing. Nothing will stand up to the friction of a grind. Painting would just waist your time... why do you think it gets people mad when you skate their freshly painted curbs??? Cause it takes an hour to paint but a minute to destroy. I guess plenty of coats of paint could help but you'd also be drawing unwanted attention. Wax is harder to detect from a distance.

z-roller trucks.
-
breaking in a ledge 101.
grab an old deck.
grab an old pair of trucks.
go to your local stores canning section of the store, buy some wax.
wax ledge to hell.
put old deck with old trucks on ledge.
run.
land on board.
repeat 4-7 until ledge seems grindable.
come back next day and sesh. making a ledge takes time but once you get it good youll be glad you did.
