I don't feel like getting hassled at skate perception for asking this question, so maybe you slap heads know:
What's the handheld light that people use while filming with a VX1000? I have a friend who is trying to avoid buying a generator so we'd like to give that thing a try...

upgrade to that 2100 and you wont need extra lighting.

That one is garbage, you need at least a 50 watt light, your best bet is a bescor for that.
Getting a generator and some work lights will make the footage look way better, the light on the camera will give you horrible flat and uneven lighting, resulting is shitty looking footage.
-
You need something at least more than 50W. Not that 20W Sony Light. Go for the Bescor 50/100 and buy a 75W bulb for it.

there's a tutorial on making a LED array on-camera light on perception.
a friend made one, and it's suprisingly good, and only cost him something like 30 bucks to build.
and no matter what, if you want your footage to be worth a shit, you're gonna have to sack up and get a lighting setup.

upgrade to the 2100 and your footage will look like complete shit.. unless you are maybe one of 3 people who have pulled off using it. but yeah, those lights are sick. they even have a cute little battery pouch.

The LED ones are much to weak for the VX1000. Get at least 75W.

You have no idea what your are talking about.
Vx2100's have a 1 lux rating which basically means it is 10 times better in low light then a Vx1000. You will still need a light though.
For a Vx1000, the best choice is a Bescor 50/100. Then go to Home Depot or something and buy a 75 watt bulb. That will be perfect.
