The Mummies

YES

Whether it's "garage" is debatable, but Swami Records (http://www.swamirecords.com/home.html) has good rock and roll up the wazoo. Check out the Hot Snakes if you don't listen to them already.

Another garage-y band I've been listening to a lot lately is The BellRays. You could say they're a garage punk/soul band.

Thanks for the Beehive and The Barracudas download. Check out The Widows f/ San Diego, as well. Some of my old buddies.

Listen to this guy! Especially something like Nuggets is great way to find great songs for cheap... for the new(er) stuff Reatards might actually be my favorite band...
More awesome stuff:
Jay Reatard and all of his other bands/projects too
TEENGENERATE (already mentioned, it so good)
and other RIP OFF RECORDS stuff (Loli & The Chones, Registrators, The Rip Offs, Supercharger, The Zodiac Killers)
The Devil Dogs is an essential 90's Garage revival-band
and New Bomb Turks too.
Black Lips does the hippygaragething and is awesome
Roky Erickson and his bands going all the from the 60's to the 21st century (check out The Psychedelic Sounds Of The 13th Floor Elevators by 13th Floor Elevators)
Boston Chinks (great band)
Carbonas (same)
Mark Sultan (also known as BBQ) and King Khan too (check out The King Khan And BBQ Show for their collaboration)
M.O.T.O. (great garage rock'n'roll)
The Mummies (legendary liveband)
The Wongs (holy shit!)

Well, I quess I forgot like 1000 bands, but whatever. Some of those should get you started both on the 60's Garage AND the 90's revival AND the recent garagepunk/rock stuff. Some genre lines could have been crossed, but who the heck cares about those anyway.

I'm bringing this thread Back From The Grave
to say Mick Collins fucking rules.
I've been listening to The Gories all day, I forgot how great they were.
Dirt Bombs are pretty good, too, yep.

pretty much all the stuff coming out on goner and in the red is worth listening to.

and all the stuff that Crypt and to a less extent Estrus used to release.

if you like Black Lips, download some Woggles.
not nearly as drunk, but the songs are sort of similar.
homie Manfred used to sell me records when I lived in Athens.
now he has a show on Sirius, well deserved, he put in work.

I would also like to add that surf music sucks and that people who try to talk to me about Los Straightjackets while I'm blasting Gories or Obllivians should be fucking killed.

I am so hyped about Oblivians and pretty much everything Oblivians have done before and after Oblivians (Compulsive Gamblers, Tearjerkers, Reigning Sound...). Right now I am playing Mary Weiss from Shangri-Las backed with Reigning Sound, perfect night music!

Going to see Mark Sultan next saturday (6th), can't fking wait!
