If most other people did the self cheer stuff, I'd probably be annoyed, but having seen him do that before to some extent, I thought it was pretty funny, and the skating was most def sick. Cool how he gave his board away.

It looked like he had so much fun landing those tricks. It more looked like just joking around, at the end he was a bit cocky tho but in the middle it just looked like showing some tricks to friends and not taking the whole comp seriously. Oh and french people are really emotional and they like to dramatize anything if you didn't know that.

I love how you use soccer for that analogy instead of any other sports with more jockness to it, Americans totally hate soccer and presume all euros love it.
Good to see him back on top again though. I think everyone on here can agree that his part in sorry was the absolute best skating anyone his age could do at that time, and has still not been topped to this day with like 4 kids almost as good but not really.

everyone there looked embarrised, no one was making any sounds except bastien haha, i like when he landed a trick and he goes to high 5 someone. like the other person should be high fiving bastien, but bastien giving himself self props goes for the high 5, but you can tell he loves himself. i was hoping for the beating of the chest again.

im half french and when i land a trick im hyped on, i sometimes throw my arms up and yell or something out of stokedness.

Notice how he wasn't cheering himself at the beginning, but then the more stuff he landed and the more the crowd got hyped the more he played up to it. I think he was working the crowd as he got more confident that he was skating well, personally. But whatever your opinion is on his own opinion of himself, he fucking killed it. Hello? Sponsors?

I hope he never changes. I've never seen anything wrong with his skating much less his self props. Since he lost his sponsors, it's obviously not some ploy to have a fake ass persona to sell boards or move product. Can't say the same for some other pros.

The hate here is so pointless. It's not the coolest thing in the world to self-cheer on a skateboard but the guy is just hyped, give him a break. And forget the cocaine rumors, he's not on it. I've been to a contest with this guy and he's hella nice. And at the competitions, he's just hungry. And I don't see nothing wrong with that - if you enter one, why not give it a try for real? There's often money on the table and if you want it, you better go for it.
And how much money he won that Paris weekend? I bet you'd be holding your arms straigh up in the air if you'd realize that the loot is coming your way. And how about those tricks? I know I'd shitting my pants from joy jumping down that shit if I could pull those manouvers.
