i met danny renaud at a sushi demo, he seemed pretty damn nice and talkative. and chris cole always used to be at the x-games park in philly, and was never a dick to anyone there. i'm sure they all have their mood swings though.

i know that when my friend and i were at west la 12 (he was trying nollie back heel) we had all these fucking lurkers, like, everywhere. there was a ton of kids there, a couple moms, and some other crew that decided to film him without permission... shit just gets annoying you got kids standing in the shot or whatever. i totally felt like being a dick to some of them.

I've met PJ, P-Rod, and Lenoce, and I mean MET met them, not some lame crap like saying hi to them while they're at a demo or something. Not fucking "hey dude ur like the best skater omg" awkward moment. No skater I've met has been an ass.
If you come up to them like some weirdo fanboy, then yes, they're going to "vibe" you. If you approach them like they're just another guy at the spot, then they actually treat you like a decent person.

pj was a really bad viber. he was at the coliseum in the middle of a giant snow storm and some kid who was talking to his friends said " damn i wish we could skate" and pj started bitching at him with such lines as "why dont you go do something about it" i lost respect for him after that

I was late too a Zoo York demo at southside one time, got there around 4:30 or something and it was already over. I remember seeing a bunch of disappionted looking kids and everyone was complaining that the only person who really skated was Jarred B. Well out in the parking lot Kenny and Clyde were walking around like arrogant dicks with a mega phone and no shirt blinging the scars and just saying really arrogant shit through the mega phone everytime some kid would approach them and ask a question. I am not sure if that is asshole or just stupid but to me acting like an arrogant ass when you don't even skate hard enough to show up the locals is a bit off.

Ok...hows this. I was at a Zoo demo last year in the Chicago burbs, and I watched Kenny walk up the the concession stand and ask for a drink. As the kid turned to get him his beverage of choice, Mr. Hughes followed up with his selection by saying, "...and hurry the fuck up about it". You might read the context of this and assume Kenny was kidding, but I was standing 5ft from him, and I assure you he wasn't. Weirdo fanboy? Fuck that, I could give a shit about being friends with a pro....I got enough fucking friends.

Rick Oyola- one of the nicest skaters ever, i was skating at city hall and he was the only other person there, talked to me and was real cool and then we skated thru traffic to this basement bank to steps and we met kelly ryan there (i think it was him not sure?) and he shot photos for a little bit, i was sooo fucking pissed a had to be at work at 8 pm and had to leave to catch the train like 20mins after we got there
Steve- mad cool and down to earth, smoked more than a couple ls with him and he just seemed like a quiet guy, i also used to chill with hill, sun and rasul (dude in the reason intro to stevies part) who are steves peoples and the og dgk, and he def shows them mad love and never forgot about them. yea i didn't say i never left love. i met ricky at love in 97 and i skated with him a lot for like 2 years but as i said, at the end of my stay i was closer with wenning and ian reid and them. ian reid wasn't in philly much but i mentioned him cuz hes someone you should know. he started showing up quite a bit in 2000 tho and thats when i became close with him. if you don't know the 2 other locals you obviously didn't know that many people in philly. they were always at love and city hall during that time.

i used to skate at the little venice circle park for like three years straight. it's pretty shitty but a cool place to meet up with your friends, figure out what you are going to do that day, scan for hot girls etc. basic warm up/ end of the day spot.
aaron snyder rolls up with his filmer and they both start acting like fags. after cutting off some local, aaron gets pissed and makes the unfortunate mistake of saying "all people who chill at venice are fags". certain people didn't like that. i never saw him at the spot again.
that was a couple years ago, i dont know what his status is now but i'm pretty sure him and his faggot filmer were banned for the time being.
on the other side of the spectrum, brian wenning came out to LA with a habitat am (steve durante?) for a week and stayed with a mutual friend who lived close. he skated at venice, courthouse, sand gaps and john adams the whole time with us and was cool as hell. one of the nicest, most down to earth people i've ever met.
it's funny how someone like brian wenning, a living legend, can be nice as hell while some second rate dude like snyder can act like a hard ass primadonna bitch.

The coolest pros Ive ever met were Neal Mims, Duffy, Kareem, MJ, and Chad Knight. Most pros are pretty cool, but those were some of the chillest and nicest dudes ive ever met in my life. Smolik was also pretty cool when he was blowing up. He dealt pretty wee with the hordes of kids following him around.

Couple weeks back I skated with Alien Workshop and Habitat guys in Lyon. Greg Hunt was filming and was super friendly too...they were so mellow and and even though they filmed at this other spot(rowley ledge) we were they weren't stressed or anything. Cool guys.
They were the guys who actually came talk to us and asked some shit. Dill looked pretty heinous and didn't skate or say anything but Janoski and the other heads were like normal skate rats..or actually even friendlier... Better remember me in the credits Greg Hunt buhahah!!

i remember i met all the zero guys when i was 14 after a casl contest. they were at this white ten stair ledge, the one adrien lopez back tails to fakie for his ender in misled youth. all of the guys were really cool and friendly. jamie thomas and erik elington were across the street and matt mumford said to go talk to them. jamie thomas told me and my friend to go back over there and he would give us some autographs when they were done. we probably were annoying but he didn't have to be such an unfriendly dick to little kids. everytime i've seen him around he always seems to have some kind of attitude going on.when he rode for emerica my friend jb worked at sole tech and he was mopping something and jamie laughed and called him the sole tech janitor.

The funniest Gig i've been to was in Glasgow like, God a LONG time ago, House of Pain were playing (i hadn't gone to see them - seriously i hadn't) but Everlast was trying to fight the crowd, and giving it all this Catholic/Protistant shit (which you don't do in Glasgow, it would be like doing it in Ireland) and this guy got on stage and beat the shit out of him infront of everyone, the crowd was laughing like fuck - so funny
Everlast stopped the set and then tried to have a boxing match with the guy, who just fucking beat the shit out of him agian, then the bouncers grabbed the guy and Everlast started smacking him, then a bouncer smacked holding the guy, just started smacking Everlast, fucking riot on stage, totally fucked, then they got boooed of stage for being shit and starting a Protistant/Catholic riot - something that shouldn't be involved in hip-hop
Anyway, they didn't/were't back in Glasgow or Scotland for sometime after that, although Mugg's played in Aberdeen adn remember about Everlast getting battered, which i though was funny as fuck

i've met tons of skaters out skating but i've never been one to fan out... maybe lurk when i was younger but now a nod or a what's up suffices... one has to realize they just want to skate like everyone else, but they have that much more pressure when they're pro/am and have to film and get photos (i.e. koston at belmont a couple years back, he was trying that nollie 180 flip up the three and fakie tre down the nine, always made the nollie but the fakie tre was harder to come by...he landed one sketchy and some kids starting clapping and saying "yeah!" then he kinda glances over looks down and says "do you know how fucking annoying that is!"...mind you this is about 1-2 hours of trying that line, he didn't make it that day, in the yeah right! slide show pics, the one where jereme rogers is tweaking a switch ollie on flat is from that day)

not necessarily, but if im skating a spot with another skateboarder in close proximity, i generally say "whats up". If that person can't muster up enough humility to respond back, then they can get fucked, whether he be a pro, an am, or just some kook off the street. Maybe its because I can remember a time where I literally had to fight to ride my skateboard, or maybe its just my southern upbringing, but I take it personal when another skater goes out of his way to be a dick. That's weird. I've never met anyone as aware of their impact as Donny. People meet pros and they want to form an opinion. They stare at them and try to figure out what every look and action "means." Donny's a good dude and an amazing skater.

Well some kids now a days just don't have respect for the people around them no matter what level of skater they are, we are all just skaters right. It is a place for all skaters and if some kid is just not paying attention in the area other people are trying tricks or what not the chance of one of the peolpe getting hurt is greater. Chances are the bigger dude is not going to get it as bad as the kid. When I went to powell skate zone as a kid I learned the hard way be getting smoked and got the wind knocked out of me by Salman Agah and you know what that never happened to me after that, if you catch my drift. I will yell at a kid before I have to slam into him because he is in the way when i'm trying a trick.

instead of being all do or die about it, how about walking up to little man and talking to him like a human being? explaining to him how hes got to wait his turn, share the spot, skate in the direction everyone else is skating, not to sit on an obstacle, etc. instead of yelling at him and bumming him out, they're just kids afterall and they're there trying to have fun just like me and you.

for the record, I want every slap pal to know if they already didn't that, cliff is NOT a dick, I met him many years ago at an A-Team/Blind Demo, and I just remember being this probably annoying 12 year old kid, but I distinctly remember that James Craig and Ronnie Creager were super cool to me that day, Ronnie even recorded a mini interview with me on his camera he was messing around with, it's little things like that that can make u that much more super hyped on a skater.

Tony Silva- I went with my girl to the premier of foundations cataclismic abyss, it was the first showing and was pretty empty, instead of siting down like every other person attending he stands directly next we where we are sitting a begins to yell at anything in the video, which everyone else was doing but then he starts smoking his crappy cigarette in the theater, then my girl ask him to move away with the ciragerette, he mumbles something under his breath but does not move away from us. So then I turn to him and I am like look you little #$%%@* move away from me with that @#$% now. He then finally moved away. Besides that every other am or pro I have met has been pretty cool.

i was at asr during the game of skate thing and chris haslam was going super slow when he was trying his tricks, so i said to my friend "he needs to take another push" or something to that effect, and jamie thomas turns around and says "why dont you go out there and do it then." it was hillarious. we laughed for a bit. i probably sounded like and asshole but i was joking. he still treated me to those few beautiful words though.

i forgot one up there to, at the second King Of The Road, when there was a meeting in Carbondale, i was sitting under this tent with scott kane and darrell,. lutzka comes walking up after a couple beers. i guess he knew darrell kinda, but never had met scott and he said to him "what, you can switch heelflip front nose a handrail, but you cant backsmith in vert? fucking pussy" and scott just said "i'll fight you RIGHT now" and lutzka broke out immidiatly. it was hillarious to. douche chill.

Tony Silva- I went with my girl to the premier of foundations cataclismic abyss, it was the first showing and was pretty empty, instead of siting down like every other person attending he stands directly next we where we are sitting a begins to yell at anything in the video, which everyone else was doing but then he starts smoking his crappy cigarette in the theater, then my girl ask him to move away with the ciragerette, he mumbles something under his breath but does not move away from us. So then I turn to him and I am like look you little #$%%@* move away from me with that @#$% now. He then finally moved away. Besides that every other am or pro I have met has been pretty cool.
I can understand calling a Pro or an Am a dick if they mock you when you ask for an autograph or you try to talk to them and they just shut you down, but I don't see why you can call Tony Silva a dick because you were whining about him having a good time, you said that he was yelling during the video just like everyone else, well than you can't be upset with just Tony, you also changed your story to make your side sound more legit. If someone was giving me a hard time while I was trying to have fun than I wouldn't be that pleasant either, you most likely asked him in a rude manor so I'm sure that wouldn't help the situation, most people in this topic have stated why the Pros or Ams are dicks and have given legit reasons, but you are just a cry baby, its a Foundation video premier its not going to be like church, ofcourse people are going to be yelling and going crazy, and if Tony didn't put out his cigarette than you could have moved to another seat instead of starting a pointless arguement. So put yourself in someone else's shoes and you calling someone a dick over the internet over some stupid situation like your's than you just look like an idiot.
This is a good thread though, it makes you realise that Pros and Ams shouldn't have to be fake if they don't want to, there just like everyone else so treating them differently might make them react in a different way than they would if you were just down to earth with them.

I was at Tampa Pro a few years ago with a friend and we were sitting up on one of the quarters with all the dudes waiting for their runs. My buddy was sitting right next to Allissa Steamer who was standing, and it was super crowded. It was hot too and my friend reached down to adjust himself and at the same time accidentally rubbed her leg with his elbow. She looked down and said" What the fuck man, you just itched your nuts and rubbed my leg at the same time. That shit's not kosher, you've got to find a new place to sit." She just yelled at him like she owned the place.

Yeah but i didn't care. I thought these kids were just jocking cause I was the flavor of the week. The next week they didn't care so fuck it! Plenty of soldiers have been tossed to the curb. Some handle it like men and get jobs and some end up like Gator.

i used to skate at the little venice circle park for like three years straight. it's pretty shitty but a cool place to meet up with your friends, figure out what you are going to do that day, scan for hot girls etc. basic warm up/ end of the day spot.
aaron snyder rolls up with his filmer and they both start acting like fags. after cutting off some local, aaron gets pissed and makes the unfortunate mistake of saying "all people who chill at venice are fags". certain people didn't like that. i never saw him at the spot again.
he he...holy shit, i remember that day. it sucked because i knew aaron and gayton (filmer) but was definitely going to choose venice over their shit. i remember gayton hit some kid sitting on the ledge in the face with his vx cause they said something after snyder got all bummed that he got cut off. charlie lamb from ny was with them and i just told them they should leave. snyder is usually a nice guy. but that day him and gayton kooked it big time. funny memory for sure. and duly ejected from dagger land.

i remember i met all the zero guys when i was 14 after a casl contest. they were at this white ten stair ledge, the one adrien lopez back tails to fakie for his ender in misled youth. all of the guys were really cool and friendly. jamie thomas and erik elington were across the street and matt mumford said to go talk to them. jamie thomas told me and my friend to go back over there and he would give us some autographs when they were done. we probably were annoying but he didn't have to be such an unfriendly dick to little kids. everytime i've seen him around he always seems to have some kind of attitude going on.when he rode for emerica my friend jb worked at sole tech and he was mopping something and jamie laughed and called him the sole tech janitor.
I remember the day in San Clemente that you're referring to and your story paints me to be lame, but we were in the middle of filming. And for the record, I would have never told you'd I'd give you an autograph if you didn't ask. I recall it being more like; hey, I'm down to sign whatever if you guys could hang out over there for a few minutes till we're done.
The Sole Tech janitor thing is made up as hell, I've mopped floors before and the last thing I would do is diss someone for it.
I try to be as nice as I can be considering the situation, maybe that's that not enough sometimes, but I give what I have to give.

I've met the majority of people I want to meet in the industry with the exception of guy mariano, and the only people i can say were dicks were ellisa steamer at city hall in philly, bitch was thinking i was poaching her wack ass line that she didnt even land, and billy marks was kind of a prick too cause i was being nothin but nice to him at a premiere a few years back, and dude was just a stoned cold prick, who was in my city, you gotta show nothin but respect to any local when you're in their town. Everyone else i've met has been super cool, Marc Johnson was pretty cool but he was pretty much a dick after he slammed on his wrist on a nollie backtail on a hubba plus he'd been on tour for a while at that point so i'll let him get away with that, also because hes one of the greatest skateboarders ive ever seen live. Honorable mentions to nicest dudes ever, are rob pluhowski, scott johnston, steve berra (stayed in the same hotel as him and juliette years back, dude was super chill to me), andrew reynolds, gino, rickk howard, and Mike Carroll were also the shit.

So we started skating, and eventually I think I was trying front salad fakie or something, and I hear the photog dude Sue say "Didn't that get done SWITCH???" to his smug little non-skating friends, and they all snickered. And this dude I was there with was trying kickflip front board or something, and he'd set off his flash randomly to fuck with him, he even ran up on him shooting a sequence, litterally from 15 feet away up into his face while he was on the ground, and he was laughin it up.
Fucking dick.
but as a consolation, haslam did the back board fs flip that ended up in a mag/his round 3 part, so I got to brag that I was there n' shit afterwards

Jerry hsu was real cool. Same with Jimmy carlin. Duffel was really nice aswell. Got us $5 wrist bands to get into the osiris premier for free. Then later gave all three of us Feed the need. All the dudes on girl where real nice. BA was sick as fuck so was Rickk. Braydon is really sick. Super happy to talk to people. Jereme was real nice too. Gave me a pair of dvs. Shuriken shannon was really nice as well. Real chill

me and my friends went to see the first X games in Newport back in like 94(the one with the Jamie Thomas back 50-50 in Welcome to Hell Intro). We were psyched that Ed Templeton started talking to us cuz we were 13 years old and starstruck but he was waaay too nice and super hyped ! He kept telling us about the World Wide Web which we had barely heard of and how Toy Machine was going to be all over it. He talked for like 40 minutes and after a while we were all thinking to ourselves we gotta get outta here !! awesome dude

My pro encounters from the 90's... Never a "fan out" situation, usually just skating the same park/spot.
Nice guys:
Ray Barbee - nicest guy ever. Counselled at the same skatecamp a couple times, '98 and '01.
Shawn Mandoli - as above, '98. He had just gotten off Real and was still ripping.
Mike Crum - when he lived in Vancouver briefly... '95 or so... "yeah'd" my line at The Clubhouse. It's cool when pros give props to kids. Zero effort on the pro's part, makes the kid feel good.
Tas Pappas - bought a Mad Circle shirt off him at Slam City Jam '95 so he could buy lunch, talked to him on the way to the concession. Struck me as nice.
Chris Senn - skated the Powell skatezone with him in '94. He encouraged me to keep trying a trick that he had seen me trying earlier. Landed it in front of him, got the "yeah". Saw him at the first Slam City Jam a month or so later, he remembered me. Stuff like that means you aren't a dick in my book. Just talking and being cool to random kids. I entered SCJ in '98, and Chris was flying around the course like a madman. He bailed something and slid face-first into some kid (who had snuck past security)'s board. Cut his nose, bled pretty good. Didn't yell at the kid, who looked ready to crap his pants. Templeton was cool about it, too (Chris was on Toy Machine then. Ed applied t-shirt-to-the-nose first aid).
Jake Stewart - I saw him entertain a group of kids gathered around him.
Andy MacDonald - I'm sure he's a celebrity on these boards! Anaheim Vans park in '99. I was 3-flipping a hip, he was doing melons over it. I said I couldn't grab backside, he told me my trick was harder.
Ronnie Creager - Same day as above, I thought he was funny cause he had a two-man posse. Both dudes were rocking all Ronnie's sponsors' gear. Then the trio "yeah'd" my tailslide bigspin. Why do I clearly remember the trick? Pros make impressions, I guess.
Rick McCrank - I was semi-sponsored and going to Vancouver more often around the time that he was just about to blow up. Skated around him a few times. Very mellow, cool guy.
I was on the same small board company as Arron Johnson when he was 14. Didn't see him for a few years, then he came through the local park on a demo tour all grown up and absolutely ripping, around '02. I didn't recognise him until he came up to me and said what's up. He's humble even though he's skate-gifted.
Skated lots with Keegan Sauder when he was on Real and lived in my town. We never hit it off as homies, but he's definitely cool. Total natural.
Guy who's so weird he's cool: Lennie Kirk. What an enigma; I couldn't figure him out in the week I was around him. I heard he may be coming back...
There's some not-so-nice pros I've been around, too, but not enough to really know if they're dicks. Well, maybe Moses...

Karl Watson seems like he would be the coolest dude in the industry. He belongs in that "who do you think best represents skateboarding" thread.
Ted Barrows was cool, amazingly consistant with switch tricks that make you look twice and question whether it was really just switch or if you were just imagining things. He kept to himself but at one point everyone left and it was just me and him skating and he seemed to get stoked off of my crappy tricks inbetween doing switch backtails all over the place.

Agreed, now I can contribute more than one thing to the thread. The only "pro" who was a dick was Bob Fairbairn. You've prob never heard of him because he turned himself pro for his shop when he was gunna be in the newspaper, but he's a huge liar and encourages ridiculous price gouging at his skate shop and park, while he lives in a million-dollar house in a gated community. I could go on and on, but he's not even a legit pro, so I digress...
On the other hand, nice dudes include:
Jeron Wilson - talked to one of my friends about shoe colorways for a while, and nothing but good vibes.
Steve Berra - for some reason, nobody seemed to recognize him at the skate more premier I was at. So I talked to him for a while bout being hurt and skating. really cool guy.
Huf - seemed happier to shake my hand than I was to shake his.
Dan Pensyl - really down to earth and smiles for miles.
Steve Rodriguez - cant really come up with the right words, just a great guy
Andrew Reynolds - He appologized for barely bumping into me when he was getting mobbed by kids, it was hardly even his fault. Talked to him later and he appologized again, I didnt think he even remembered me.
Rip (from Super Champion Fun Zone) - Met him skating to KCDC on go skate day, and he hung out with us for a couple hours. Probably the coolest dude I have ever met on or off a board; he was actually sad when my friends and I had to leave.

James Kelch - first Slam City Jam, he sat outside the gated area, drunk with a beer in his hand. I asked him if he was skating the contest, he said "nah, just hangin' out." He was talking to all the kids around him. I guess if he wasn't at home at EMB he was cool...
Jim Thiebaud - same SCJ, I asked him if he had any boards to sell (decks were pretty expensive in Canada then). He said "no, but do you want some wheels?" We walked over to his van and he gave me a set of wheels. I asked him how to pronounce his last name.
Rune Glifberg and Remy Stratton - Vans Park, '99. I filmed them for awhile, they were cool about it, even though Weiss was filming for something... Digital?
Matt Beach - talked to him for awhile one time, he was super cool. Everyone already knew that though.

About 2 years back I showed up at a spot and to my disbelief a whole bunch of the lakai team were there (they were touring to get footy). Like Carroll, Koston, Cairo, Beibel, Olson, Mariano, Rick Howard...thats all i can remember really. Koston was STRESSING trying to film some ridiculous trick, throwing his board all over the place and screaming. Carroll gave one of my friends some wheels because the ones he was riding were so worn down...legend. Cairo was real cool and mellow too...him and carroll were just seshing the flatground at the quiet end of the spot. I think Mariano hated the spot because the ledge was too close to the wall.
Another lad is Chima. A while back he was in Perth to get footy and i drove him to some spots with this filmer i know. I thought he might be big headed but he was cool as shit. he even offered me petrol money (which i declined of course).
we took him to a huge double set and he 360'd it like it was nothing.

pretty much all of them i met were real rad. Cairo was the only one to be the only remotely dickish one. but i don't really blame him since it was at ASR and i'm sure he got people all up on him constantly.
best dude ever. Cardiel. met him shortly after he started walking around on his own. dude was extremely stoked to hear that we we were psyched to see him doing a lot better. talked to the local shop owner and myself for awhile even though he didn't have to. great dude.

When I met him, Tosh was pretty anti-social. He didn't talk to anyone at the signing, and responded to kids questions in grunts and non-verbal nods. Everyone else from the Emerica team was cool as fuck though. The DLX guys are chill, too.

Skated the UPS Barrier with some of the baker dudes in SF. Ellington and Herman was there. Ellington was super nice and fun to skate with. Everyone was cheering everybody one and very supportive.

Met the some of the Girl/Chocolate team when they came through two summers ago. Dudes were probably all tired because it was like 100 and straight humid, so that could have swayed their attitudes.
Devine-Cool as shit. got a picture with him, one of the nicest dudes ive ever met

Yeah i also met toy machine but at a demo in benicia skatepark. i met the whole team sans austin stephens and diego bucherri.
billy marks was soo fucking cool. i asked him about his fallen part and he said he's got a full part, unlike his suffer part, and he said it's pretty good. he also asked me if i had a lighter so he could burn the ends of his shoe laces. shot water guns at the kids after the demo (including me in the face). it was fun.
johnny layton was really chill and quiet.
i talked to ed templeton for a while. i asked him about his emerica part but he said that he doesn't have that much footage. he told me that he designs the toy machine graphics. i acted all surprised as if i didn't know just cuz it was cool hearing it come from him. matt bennett was nice but didn't say much.

trapasso was cool but was noticably high. i talked to him before i got super stoned, but after he was my friend went to get his autograph and he was a dick to him. he said "can't you see i'm trying to smoke this blunt" or something like that. i laughed so hard.
i also met that flow dude rob straser. i thought he was stephens but he was sick. super cool and seemed excited that someone wanted his autograph. he ripped it at the demo so i was glad i got it. then i saw him in heavy flow day and i was happy i met him.

As mass of kids had accumulated under the ramp where the team was tossing product from.....Mike tried handing a new board to this little kid, but as the kid got a hold of the board, some punk tore it out of his hands....Mike jumped off of the ramp (beer in hand), snatched the board back, dumped beer all over the kid, and made sure that the younger kid got the board......He walked by me and said, "Did you see that kid? But there are a lot of pros/ams that don't talk/act friendly to people and give tough guy looks, not really feeling that but oh well. Props to the dudes who are down to earth and level with fools.

I rarely approach people but here's a few memories from the vault:
Natas Kaupus - Remains my biggest influence in skateboarding. I saw him at a demo in Jersey at Ollie Pops early 90's and I fanned out and started skating near him because I was so hyped and ended up plowing him down somehow. I'm guessing we both were skating with our heads down. I apoligized like 10 X. Natas was pretty cool, totally aloof though.
Mike Vallely - I know Mike from skating anywhere in Jersey late 80's but this particular memory was the day he ollied frontside grabbed over the fence on top of the Brooklyn Banks wall. This is back when he was on Black Label. I didn't know he was going to show up. Me and my friend were sitting on the wall just looking at the fence and the fuck just walks up, looks at it, and then starts going for it. That dude has major pop off tranny.
Chris Cole - Chris is a nice kid. This is back when he was making the fresh to hesh transformation. We were calling him and his various henchmen "Chris Kool & The Gang". He was trying to shoot pictures for his Big Brother interview and we brought him to the Asbury pool thinking he was all flip tricks and ledge only and amazingly he shocked us with a backside disaster on the face wall.
Chris Swanson - Funniest dude when you get to know him. I told him to get rid of his gnarly unibrow and he let me shave it off for him.
Steve Caballero - Serious guy. Likes Cheerios. I was alittle worked and I asked him about his neck, why it's bent, forgot what he said why.
Brian Wenning - Enigma child. This is pre- sponsorship pre- urban Wenning @ Eatontown skate nite. He always had these real small bearing cover wheels with flatspots and I thought he'd skate faster with newer wheels. I offered him a pair of barely used Spits but he was more than happy with his lumpy 40 mm duds.
Ethan Fowler - Met him at a Vans contest in Asbury during his black ankle sock goth phase. Stoked on his skating. I thought he'd have a real anti-social persona but I was wrong. Scott Bourne was alittle anti-social though. But I guess that's what happens when you're the lone straight edge guy at a bar like he was.
Josh Kalis - Never a fan. Bumped into him at Love when he ran his mouth to one of my friends for littering like he owned the place. I got alittle irritated at first but then we got talking about JFK and some conspiracy shit and I ended up getting some BGP's in one of his DC ads.
Ricky Oyola - This guy is usually aggro but I like it. The first time we met in 1990 at Love park, my first time there as a weekend warrior tourist fuck he just came up and asked me for a skate tool and I said I didn't have one so he got annoyed and said , "Don't come back next time without a tool"...

Absolute coolest pro I've ever met was Tim Brauch. Met Tim, Markovich, and Charlie Wilkins at an Estes Clothing demo about 10 years ago an they were all really nice and willing to shoot the shit with everyone. Geoff Rowley on the other hand, slept in the van and never got out the whole four or five hours the team was there.

Ill have to agree with the comment about Karl Watson, I was in sf about a week ago for my first time, And of course i wanted to skate third and army The second i rolled up to 3rd the first person to come up to me was Karl, he introduced himself right away and made me feel super welcome there, that fucking stoked me out,later some homies were seshin the 3 stair or whatever and Karl was just yellin the hole time I think i ollied it or rolled down it or something just messin and He was so stoked with a big smile and Just cheered i was soo stoked. Definetly my favorite person on the planet.
Another dope person i met was Adrian williams the same day, soo good super hyped on the tricks i was doing on the flat bar or whatevs chatted him up a bit. He was also doing back lip big flip on the ledge soooo good which made me want to try hard. All around i think if u go to SF you'll meet nice pro's/ams/people in general

Kerry Getz- didnt do nothing to me, but he was skating a demo at my local park and one of the shop guys put up some type of stupid rail for him to skate. he took it down and continued trying whatever he was trying. kind of had an attitude about him...maybe because my park was shit hahah
