back then the general consensus was that buying 53 millimeter wheels was like throwing away your cash.
People thought once your wheels shredded down to 52 it was time for a new pair
Before that time Hosio Rockets were all the rage
(http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:MHqmn02LhzVdWM:http://www.valsurf.com/images/PAHJABAGIBCLMOHD.jpg)
sizing in at 60 mm (later shrinking down to 56mm)
also T-Bones were very popular
(http://worthopedia.s3.amazonaws.com/images/thumbnails2/1/0309/29/1_ca1bb42ebb08f47141b9b8bd7b2c666e.jpg)
and these fuckers were a whopping 67mm big!!!
So back then 53 were small and considered "disposable"
along with thinner boards that came out a few years later.
Looking back it amazes me that I was able to get my skateboard off the ground at all
boards back then were H-E-A-V-Y!
-
oh i thought that you meant like in the early/mid 90s when people skated bearing covers
-
oh i thought that you meant like in the early/mid 90s when people skated bearing covers
skateboarding went from 60mm wheels being standard
to 53 milllimeter "Real Smalls"
to the 39mm bearing covers phase
in 2 short years
those were some crazy times

actually guy does one on that video on a curb i believe ... i thought someone might have done one before guy though.
-
I'd have to watch again to make sure, but I'm pretty sure Jeremy Klein did some noseblunts in Rubbish Heap... 1989. Also, Hensley might have been doing some right around then too...
-
Who did the first back tail on a ledge, on film?
-
gonz...oceanside 86....
-
gonz...oceanside 86....
Well, he didn't actually slide that one at oceanside...
Pretty sure gonz was the first to do ollies to back tail (his first on video is in the skate rock video from 1985 I believe) but I'm not sure who was the first to slide it on video.
I do know jason lee was the first one to make it look good, though...
-
duane peters....

Who did the first inward heel? I don't know the answer...

Gonz did it first. Probably before video days era.
Who did the first frontside 360 ollie?
-
What skater had a clothing company whos title alludes to the act of dissrespect in a fps after you kill the enemy ? :)
-
damn i missed out on some easy ones earlier.
first 360 ollie... rodney mullen, alan "ollie" gelfand?
-
Nope and nope. remember, I'm talking frontside 360. I figured somebody'd get this right away considering how crazy it was at the time (not that I was skating yet, people just tell me it was)
-
natas?
the first 360 ollie was technically cab...it was a 360 ollie from fakie....
-
Yeah Natas. And I meant frontside 360 ollie on street if I didn't say so.
-
i always wonder too about the stuff gonz did, because vision never came out with a video really...
-
Since apparently people aren't that avid of onvideo viewers, here's another one that can be found in an episode:
Who did the first nollie kickflip? I'm pretty sure it actually wasn't a freestyler.
-
^^Avi Luzia?
-
nope. You are thinking of the right guy I think, but you have his name confused...
-
Nollie flip- Ali Mills - in the video Useless Wooden Toys?
Who did the Nollie 180 sw crook on Clipper?
-
you got that one. I don't know the yours though.

Wasn't this Bjorn Johnston in one of the Digital videos?
-
That is correct.. on Bjorn..

In his big brother interview who bitched that Muska stole his front tail down the "Muska Ledge" on Venice beach? He claimed they skated it one day, said pro skateboarder front tailed it and went back and seen Muska shooting for an ad.

What's the Muska ledge? Is that the same as the venice hubba that Koston noseblunted on his skater of the year cover?

thats what i was wondering. and if yes, it doesn't make any sense because thats backside for muska.
-
I think they're talking about that 26-ish stair set on the beach. There's a little ride away then sand. Muska did tail to fakie then pranced into the sandy waves.
-
well the answer is Adam Mcnatt and I may have mixed up the ledges, leave it up to a Polack to fuck up his own question.
-

For some reason Adam McNatt popped into my head. He's the only dude I could imagine complaining about shit like that in an on-the-record interview. Was it actually a crook? And did he say it in a big brother interview while he was on his way to fading to obscurity? They start it with something along the lines of commenting on him saying "Big Brother is regular, but only smart people can detect it" in a transworld interview. I vaguely feel like I did read something like that there.
-
pretty certain there are two ledges in venice beach. they both look the same but the muska's is the bigger one. all the replays of the tailslide in Guilty made me sick, or maybe that was just the muskabeats.
-

motherfuckers acting like they forgot about brian lotti
-

it was adam mcnatt but he was refering to muska grinding that long as curved rail in venice. daniel haney 50-50'd it to backside 180 out a few years later in that foundation video.

first manual to 360 flip out?

Rudy Johnson on the stage at embarcadero I think is the first manual 3flip.
Gonz for the other one on that square pole thing in the parking garage
both video days. Those are the oldest of that I have seen.

close but im pretty sure that chris hall was the first to do the manual 360 flip atleast on film and in a video, if im remembering correctly that new deal video came out a few months before video days.
gonze did the alley oop 50-50 thing regular stance and it was rick ibaseta that did it switch first, atleast to my knowledge.
-
Did Powell 8 come out before those videos? Pat Brennan may have done manual to 360 flip.
