I know it's an old topic but it's appreciation, so I thought it would be okay to post in it. I just saw the new silas part that came out today. That made me think of Guru Khalsa who is my favorite from that period when Silas was big in the habitat videos.
I like the stuff Khalsa has been putting out from Texas in recent years also.

Very underrated skater in my opinion.

Definitely underrated and I've been kicking myself for not getting one of his birch decks when they came out. Such a sick graphic

Not that sick graphic haha. Pretty sure that run is control sadly. The one I want is the drummer one from the small PS Stix run they did during the pandemic.

Do any one know why he has such an ethnic name? He looks pretty white, is he half Indian perhaps?
I like the name btw.

He did "Nine years at a boarding school in North India where I lived in the jungle at the foothills of the Himalayas." So who knows

I think he was raised sufi?
I still have some of his incense from one of his early Birch runs - my wife won't let me burn it inside, but I thought it smelled nice. The Origin and Inhabitants parts will always be on repeat. His trick and spot selection aged nicely.
-
there was a skateboarder mag interview he had like 12 years ago explaining all that. from what i can remember half of his family is from india but i could be fucking that one up
-
Anybody know what recent developments are with Birch, Wake Robbins, flowy pants, all of that? The latest vid just had Guru and Mark Roberts, is there still a wider team?

I am posting this one as well since it's appreciation thread - even though there is a new post about on photos/ video
When people return to this thread on a later stage then it's here.
I would also like to mention it is amazing that he has two skate styles. Both really amazing. The way he skated in the his habitat period was powerful, big tech stuff with a bit of creativeness. Then the recent way he skates with the new clips just looks so good with low impact, creative, rugged spot selection and unique fines to it. He ages like fine wine and has reinvented him self.
I appreciate both eras of his skating very much.
