Title: "Its Valentine's Day and I'm catatonic"

Just thought I'd throw out  a little Palace appreciation today.
Reminded me of the first time I heard them/him. Riding in a car in early 1995 with Barker Barrett and Matt Field, both of whom I had met within the previous month. Barker put on a mix tape of Palace stuff he had made. First track was "Riding."

It was one of those "What the hell am I listening to?" things that then grew on me real quick. I got way into Palace for a few years but then burned out after "I See A Darkness." But the first ever music interview I did for SLAP was with Will Oldham in late 1998, and it was one of the coolest interviews I ever got to do. He was great. Side 1 of the tape is the interview, side 2 is the live set he did at Amoeba in SF where I shot the photo of him for the article-- and strangely enough, whoever made the "Valentines Day" video above found the photo I shot that day and used it in their montage-- it's the one around 2:20.

Got into 'em when I heard "LOST BLUES" for the first time.

Into it. I heard Will Oldham is going to be in the round of internet shack videos. I think that's gonna be pretty awesome.
