spoke with him in tampa and he said he's definitely sparked, but he was battling a knee injury when i saw him, so no more tricks for a bit i guess. he seemed hella stoked to be back skating though, so i wouldn't be surprised to see at least a decent part from him. either way, everything he does looks golden, so im not worried.

This has got to be the dumbest thing I've ever read on slap, and there are idiotic things posted on a minutely basis.
Say what you want about lack of footage or overrated, but if you're gonna use the term "poor man's," use it correctly: i.e. David Reyes is a poorman's Sean Malto (not my opinion/TSM said it). That works because they skate similarly and do similar tricks on similar obstacles and even look relatively similar. Gino and Guy don't skate even close to similar exempt for being held in the same high regard by many people. The term poor man's indicates having to settle for less than what you really want, and the fact that Guy's the only one putting out footage, we have to settle for Guy Mariano footage. Because any footage of Guy now is good simply by default, the term "poorman's" does not even apply because Guy Mariano would not be a poorman's anything. For people who care about Gino having footage now, it's because they want to see skateboarding done with Gino's style. The other remainder is apparently an imbecile thinking it's necessary to call someone in their mid thirties as washed up. He's in his mid-thirties you fucktard; he's not going to be innovating with a nollie inward heel nosegrind shove. But he can make even a varial flip look good while holding a tennis racket.

Richard Mulder was telling me last week that Gino's been mostly skating by himself or with unsponsored friends. He's doing what he wants and what he feels comfortable with, and he has earned that right. In my opinion, we have been blessed that he's been a part of skateboarding and I personally welcome any footage from him, no matter how much or how little.

his manual tricks, also shit like the way his board flips on frontside heel flips. All boned out.. fakie hardlip on the steep bank.
All that ... that shit can be pretty mandatory for this new generation.. but Gino had a certain lean that will always separate him
from the average kid doing it down a 15.

To Ponyboy: In that Transworld interview Gino basically said he'd been in jail for the whole of 2008. He'd also been on lockdown before that as well. In the Epicly Laterd series he said that he was psyched to skate, but couldn't leave the state etc etc. So the guy has had plenty of barriers to overcome over the last few years, so as he says in that HBO thing 'I'm 36, give me a break'.
If you're not into him, then why do you care? But for me, I'm fucking psyched that he's into it again. Can't wait for the vid.

Josh pretty much nailed the Gino hype straight on. ? I remember watching Snuff over and over with my friends just trying to figure out all the mind melting shit that he was doing. ? i hope Ty is sort of a dick to him and makes him film and guilts him out all the time if he doesn't. it sounds terrible, but that same thing really lit a fire under mariano. at first i am sure it sucked bc he wasnt into it, but now Guy is really hyped again. it would be rad to see a similar situation for gino.
